Great info guys!
I use reflection in my SSS skin shaders and quite often use SSS on hair or reflection on dynamic hair (like the fur hat in my avatar) This kicks my render times way up but makes them look better. Using optimized render settings as well but still long render times.
Already have a pro external sound device for music and a lot of other stuff (a rack full of gear, vintage synths and guitars)

I built my last computer (the one in my signature) for about $600. Looks like I should be getting one of those refurb dual xeon things to speed up my slow assed renders (some taking as long as 3 or 4 hours) Anything elese we should know about these "server" machines? Will they be ok running the rest of my software (Photoshop, Reason, and some games?)

Hi
Dont forget to setup inverse square in the light panel
I have no idea where that would be or what number I would use.

I had a similar problem with a body suit that had poke-through. I thought I'd be clever and use the morph brush to paint away the poke-through and then save a new CR2. Either the poke-throughs were still there or new ones appeared.

Puppet warp in Photoshop? Probably would not look too nice but would do the trick. What is the reason you need a skin map on the body suit?

typical maps that I use are 4000x4000 on V4 and min shade rate of .2. Would this be sufficient for what he's doing?

When I use the Fresnel reflect in EZSkin I go back and turn the reflect amount down to .5 on all materials afterward because it makes the skin look too wet. Not sure if there is a control for this in EZSkin or not. I can't check right now cause I go a render in the oven.

It's the other settings you are using that are bogging down your render time. I'm half way through the final render pass on a similar sized render and it has only been 10 min. Take a look at my render settings on previous post.
I'm not a fan of procedural bump maps...esp up close. But that is a personal thing I guess. When I get a new character morph/texture package I always make sure to give the bump map some love in Photoshop to fix stuff. Usually they just make a black & white jpg and forget that the dark eyebrows make a dip in the bump instead of a hill. Other times the vendor will just invert the whole map to make the eyebrows and moles correct but then you end up with the cracks in the lips pop up like veins.
Looks like you got the shade part down! I would say that there still is a disparity between your texture map and the shader mask. If you want, send me the texture map that you want to use and I'll make a mask for you.

try setting your min shading rate to .20 and give us a test render.. Are you using a bump map or procedural bump?

Thread: anybody using Facegen with Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The Poser Face Room is based on a Long Ago version of FaceGen. I wish they would update it...
An update would rock! I was hoping for that when they rolled out PP2014 but instead got the fitting room.

I use it in DS on Genesis figure. The morphs it make will appear in Poser if you have DSON configured properly. AFAIK, there is no V4 exporter.
Yeah, It was my understanding that Daz uses the Facegen SDK and it is integrated with DAZ3D. Supposedly the standalone version of Facegen will export to any mesh/UV type. That is what I was after....Don't want to have to learn DAZ3D and then have to buy content When I have years of V4 stuff.
