SABBY, YOU MAKE ME LAUGH!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
I NEEDED THAT!
JUST FOR THAT I'M GOING TO GO TO PRIME AND BUY ONE OF YOUR CHARACTERS!
PS I WOULD LIKE TO SEE EVERBODY WHO DOESN'T LIKE THE NEW THUMBNAIL SIZES TO TYPE THEIR ISSUES IN THE MAXIMUM FONT SIZE.
(Oh, to be a catalyst and a troublemaker. Sorry Stacy, Tina, for being a Stinker, but I couldn't resist adding some humor to this!).
Thread: FEEDBACK THREAD ONLY | Forum: Community Center
I posted my difficulties with the unruly thumbnail size images and vendor oversize images in the bug thread because it was so bad I didn't think it could be actually intended. The font color choices are pretty bad, too. I agree with the posters here.
The best way to describe the current layout is if you went to a movie theatre and had to manipulate someone's smartphone blown up to screen size with a mouse from the front row.
I'm starting to feel bad for Renderosity, which has become one of my favorite sites. At the same time it's kind funny watching a train crash, though, if I'm only an observer. I recognize that you have to move forward or die and smart phone purchases are another potential venue not to be missed. Apparently this may become a lesson how not to implement such a platform. Or maybe Desktop is really dead and my contributions are meaningless.
Under this format I probably won't be doing much shopping here (too painful), though I'll consider taking a chance and re-upping PRIME if there's a big enough sale in July.
PS I have faith if it is really bad Rendo will recognize and fix it. I feel they're listeners.

Yes! The memory size up front was very helpful!!
Thread: New Marketplace Bugs/Issues ONLY | Forum: Community Center
Hi.
Running XP, and now Firefox 30 (due to an unwelcome auto-upgrade from 28, despite me telling mozilla not to) the Crux is that I now have nosebleed size thumbnails that are hard to maneuver on a desktop. Marketplace and Pime, for instance, only show two "thumbnails" side-by-side on a 22" monitor. I used to get something like 12 or 16 in the same space.
I spent a lot of time writing a couple of comments and problems, mostly before Stacy pointed to two threads. I took screen captures and uploaded them, which considering the time involved I am not likely to do again.
Here's where they originated ("What happened to Prime?) and the thread is self-contained at this point:
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2882345
I consider the unruly size, long mouse scrolls, and difficulty seeing a vendor's product all at once a major bug issue, but I am concerned you may be intentionally designing your site this way to accomodate smartphones. If the nosebleed sizes are not going to be reduced, I expect to do less shopping here on my desktop becuase it is simply not friendly. This is not a threat; it's a limitation.
I made my points and showed my difficulties as clearly and succinctly as possible in the thread. If I could merge them here I would. Since I can't, I'm logging the link here and would like to know if these issues are being addressed of if they are part of the new architecture.
Thank you.

I think Renderosity tends to be shortsighted in some intances.
I am particulalry thinking about Hairstyles and Hair coloration products.
There can sometimes be quite a lag before I buy a hairstyle. Then there might be another lag before I actually use it. Then when I go to use it I find that there used to be coloration products that would have made it more valuable to me, but they are discontiuned.
I say that coloration products should be kept with hairstyles and that Renderosity should have a different way of searching for them each and a different obsolesence timetable. Further, coloration products are more likely to sell the older the hairstyle is and should not be judged by sales in their initial appeal.
A similar agrument can be made for some clothes and clothes stylings.
I would also like to be able to search for primary hair products (or Clothes) without having the color subset come up. There's nothing more irritating (well lots of things are actually) than going through page after page of coloration products when you're looking for a primary hair product.

Again, unless you spend the time to scroll accurately I say it is difficult to see what is going on. It remains bothersome that Renderosity doesn't show a whole picture from a vendor on a 22 inch monitor.
I feel I should be able to see a full snapshot of a vendor's picture, the price, any relevant sales data, the access to the readme file that you guys have always been so good about, the title and the vendor's name all at a glance.
You have been drifting further and further away from that simplicity.

In this instance, prices get cropped and the screen has to be adjusted by going back and scrolling the mouse manually--- just to see the price of only one of the vendor items. How long would it take to see ten? 100? Keep in mind you have something on the order of 40 on a page. And how many pages is it you have in this one category again?
More importantly, how many pages would you like me to go through in a shopping session?

Quote - I find my self doing way too much scrolling.
I used the phrase "Click-Happy." Same effect. I'm not the only one.

Harsh way of putting things. But if the plan is to only show two items at a time in a long running column for most vendor items (See my comments in the Market Support category under the thread "What happend to Prime") then I believe I can tell you (Renderosity) in advance I just don't have the time to spend scrolling down long darn columns on my desktop staring at oversized thumbnails.
I expect to do less shopping in this kind of scenario because it's getting just too hard to go through things quickly.
I can see where this architecture might be great for small screen phones or tablets, but for now my work in 3D is done on a larger screen as is my browsing for 3D items.
I very much like Renderosity, but I continue to feel you are "click-happy" (never pass up an opportunity to make a customer click his or her mouse one more time) and are making it more time consuming for me to BUY. It is a good thing I am looking for excuses to cut expenses on wish and non-essential items.
Two exceptions, however. I like the new shopping cart icon. I also like the new "Purchased" bar when a customer has already purchased an item.

I just posted some suggestions screen capts and replys under "What happened to PRIME" in Marketplace Support before coming to this note. Will post future comments, if any, as suggested.

I presume that many of these changes are being designed to accomodate shopping from a phone or other device with a small screen. I am curious as to what sort of breakdown phone/tablet/PC Renderosity is expecting.
I will likely be shopping from a desktop. I could see tablet as an equivalent alternative. I have no feel for phone at this point.

In case there is any question about the Screen captures above, these are Full-Screen windows that are a representation of what is viewed across the whole monitor. They are not partial windows ports.
Also, in the screen captures, you can see how much I have scrolled/still have to scroll by looking at the scroll bar on the right.
=>Take a look in particular for how many page downs I have to go through to see just one page of Renderosity prime items.

Browser is mozilla Firefox 28 (30 Just came out).
Operating system for this machine is PC/XP. Can check other op systems, but for now and for the foreseeable future this is the interface online. Scale on some of the other vendor pages seems better today.
PRIME page still only fits two "Thumbnail" items at a time that fill the page in a long narrow column that you have to scroll down to the bottom. Is this the plan for all operating systems or is it just mine?
A screen shot is attached of the Prime "Thumbnails" as they show up on my 22 inch screen. I would still call them 'nosebleeds' instead of thumbnails. The item location can be seen in the menu bar of the screen capture.
Some of the type colors are hard to read or harsh against the black.

**"Search Marketplace" bar at top right sometimes shows only three letters; it gets compressed.
