This guy must be really dumb! He didn't even changed the names of the images. Right on the bottom there are also links to the artist's gallery here at Renderosity (e.g. Morris, linwhite,ToxicAngel, turtle...). This seems to get worse...I don't understand why people steal other people's artwork. Phil

Skye, great job! I won't be able to see your booth since I'm from Germany, but like the others I'm very happy to hear that finally 3D art is getting better attention these days. Congrats for being accepted. I also agree that "Dragon!" is you best one - might be because of depicting a dragon... ;) Made a similiar dragon pic myself a few days ago. So if you're interested take a peek into my gallery while clicking on the little dragon below. :) But your other works are great stuff, too. I'd be really interested how the exposition brought you foward on your career. So please keep us other 3D artist udated how your story continues. :))) Keep up the great work! All the best, Phil
Thread: problems converting bump maps | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Robert,
have you tried the Graphic Converter for Mac? It's the best proggie you can use for these "missing BUM-file issues".
Just go to this webpage:
http://www.lemkesoft.com/en/graphcon.htmI use it all the time to convert my *BUM.jpg files into *BUM.bum files. There's also a batch utility included which helps you to convert several files altogether.
If you have further questions just send me an IM or email me under nonhuman-being@gmx.net
Hope this helps,
Phil

Sorry to hear that. :( I made the same experience several years ago. That's why I backup my data on regular basis from that day on. Whish you luck, Phil
Thread: Poser 4 into Vue 4, Quality of Rendering. | Forum: Vue
Paul, regarding the "plastic look" there is a very easy solution: Just open the texture editor, choose the appropriate texture and decrease specularity. Regarding the lightning IMHO it's not too bad that Vue doesn't import the lights. Wiht Vue you can get way much better/natural lightning results and it's much easier if you are used to it, since the lights can be positioned and edited very easily. You can do things that weren't possible in Poser with a lot of fiddling with the lights. Hope this helps, Phil

Just to add my two cents... I'm on a Mac as well and Vue does make use of my both CPUs while rendering a still (G4 MP500). But I think it also depends on the OS Vue is run under.I did a little test with my latest image and rendered it with the same size (1400x2100 px in broadcast mode) on my mac and on the pc in my office (AMD Athlon 2.16 GHz with 256MB RAM). The pc needed only half the time (8.45 hrs). But it's processors is about twice as fast, since my mac is nearly 3 years old. ;) To agree with the others...get as much RAM as possible and if you can afford a double-cpu machine get one. To forester: I have to agree that Vue runs better under a pc, but you shouldn't forget that Vue runs on pcs for quite awhile. The mac version exists since version 4, so there's still hope. No need to say, that there are new chips for the mac around the corner which might blow away the new pcs someday... ;P Yes, I'm one of those macaddicts. LOL. Best regards, Phil
