Thread: Simple Things Elude Me...Help Please | Forum: Carrara
Thread: Creature Creator | Forum: Carrara
Ok so I animate in poser...how do I bring it back into Carrara for animation? Can I make the model interact with my 3d world in carrara? Lets just say I have a car made in carrara....How complicated would it be to make a poser figure sit in that car..and then how complicated would it be to bring the animated figure back into carrara? Im not being sarcastic here..I just really want to know. Poser seems like the most ideal solution for my needs, but its usefulness appears very limited from the info I have seen.

I do have a problem with this type of program...is it useable for animations? I look @ this and poser and I really want one of them, but until someone can come out with a plug-inn its use's seem pretty limited. Come on! Lets see some news on V2.0 of C
Thread: Update on Carrara's Future.. | Forum: Carrara
Well its about stinking time he says something on the subject. I wonder how long it will take before they make a press release saying officially who the owner is? I am assumeing (I know ass+U+me) that the Poser people bought it..which I think is awesome. This makes me feel better tho b/c next quarter we are buying Carrara for work here, and I would feel bad if I found out that no-one was buying it. Looks like I dont have to go look @ truespace anymore.

Damn thats nice!! Actually it makes me sick..your "playing" just looks too good...I wonder what you could do if you where serious :) I totally dig the futuristic look of the reflection and I LOVE the fact that the lens flare doesnt look like it came out of photoshop.
Thread: What would happen to this forum if carrara was canceld | Forum: Carrara
Whats scary is @ the end of this year I plan on looking for a new package if Carrara's future isnt decided soon (publicly that is). Oddly enough the 2 apps I am looking at are truespace 5 and .....Ray Dream. Hehehe...Ray Dream looks like it has everything I am missing with Carrara and its outdatedness makes it the right price....seems so wrong to go backwards :) Of course if my plans fall thru for a non linear editor next year I will prob take that money and buy a nice high end modeler...like Miari...mmmmm ploydelicious.....

hahahaha...I like it. Very stylized. The woman poseing on the left just cracked me up. Now if only we some a bones option for you to animate and make them dance :)
Thread: Carrara 2 modelling wish list | Forum: Carrara
I just want a way to model like Nendo in the VM. MOdeling in VM should work like Nendo does but the VM really screws the pooch. I just dont get it. It may be a different product but the way Carrara interpets shapes is really odd.

lol..thanks. I don't know why I was so stupid about this last night..maybe it was the rush of haveing to get it set up and done in like 40 mins. I see it now tho :) As it was I only had 8 of the 10 sec rendered when the client needed it. Lucky for me they loved it :) BTW: No matter what the future holds for Carrara I love the whole hybrid render & light sampleing. Yes it may cause some weird errors but at crunch time you can kick at a cool animation with all those wizards for text, landscapes, etc.

Ok that didnt work out so hot...the letter now only rotates once :( The nearest I can figure it out I will need to use Clint's method (missionary? j/k) and just duplicate the letter over and over and move it so the key frames match up. I think someone should write a nice plug-in that will allow you to set rotation XXX and degrees XXX. I am assuming that I could use physics right now but this thing is due tomorrow @ 9 and I dont think the render will be done 'till at least 10, maybe 10:30. Hopefully enough will be there to make things work :)

Ok my after effects background is almost done rendering so I will give both these solutions a try...I'll let you know what happens :)

BTW: No offense intended to anywork in particular, but I have determined that I hate lensflares. Actually I have found that its not the lensflare I hate, its just anyeffect thats made with a resource. Ever look at your local tv commercials? I swear they are all using the photoshop lensflare. Did you notice that 90% of low budget 3d work is just composed of regular poser people? I cant wait till the graphics industry grows up a bit more. This will largly suck for me b/c I stink, but it will greatly improve results. Its sort of like wipes and DVE's in video...in the 70's you had crazy wipes, in the 80's some bastard created paint boxes, and in the 90's people went crazy with 3d dve's...thankfully a cleaner look is becoming popular for 2000+.....now that they have all the toys, people are seeing that simple cuts and dissolves are the best. Thats how I think it will be with 3d soon....I think they will gravitate from the weird wild shots where the effects are the scene and they will move more towards compistions where the compisition is the shot, not the shiny lens flare and lighting effects :) rant mode off...must go to bed so I can go put photoshop lensflares into crappy commercials tomorrow :) (hey smaller towns are about 10 years behind the times in video...I figure in 2010 I will be allowed to use cuts and dissovels again :)

The biggest joke in my line of work is that film makers spent millions to remove lensflares from their work. As soon as this was accomplished animators spent millions trying to put the lens flare back in.

I have seen talk like that also. Actually it has disappointed me. I sort of think that for the time Carrara's render is ok. I think they should be concentrating on their modeler rooms. I would like to see them majorly reworked. I also would like to see them dump a few hundred hours into animation...I really really wish they would get bones working...sort of dumb you have to wait for a 3rd party to do this. Actaully I am getting a bit worried. I decided a few months ago that if a new owner wasnt announced by the end of the year I was going to move on...they dont have much time left and I see that Truespace is coming out with a new version. I am guessing that I will always keep using carrara..after all some of its wizards for text, landscapes, etc are awesome. I just am ready to move forward and I want better software...COME ON UPGRADE :)
