Actually you can load the cr2 in MAT Pose Edit (with the "Open character file with props" menu) and all the attached props will be loaded also. Then just delete the character ("figure") and save the hair MAT. Of course it's also possible to make a MAT which affects both the character and the hair.
Thread: Quick tutorial for MAT POSE EDIT... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks a lot Stormrage for this excellent tutorial. I'm too lazy to write proper tutorials and I probably even couldn't make them logical.
However, I'd like to add something to the 7th and 11th messages: You don't have to ctrl-click on each head or body
material, at least not when working with Victoria.
Just click "Victoria.cfg" under the "Material group templates"
title and then select "Head" or "Body" from the "Select material group" combo-box. This way the right materials will be automatically selected. This method works with all Victoria (1 and 2) based characters.
And a note about the 10th message: If you load the texture with the browse (...) button there's no need to press the "Apply" button, only when you've typed the texture by hand in the text field.
These are just minor points but still worth knowing at least if you're making tons of MAT files.
Thanks for helping me. If someone asks me how to use MAT Pose Edit I'll point him/her to this thread.
Regards,
Ilari Pihlajisto

Only 172 mornings left! Good news Ajax, the army isn't stopping me, just slowing a little. I'm creating a new major upgrade to MAT Pose Edit with plenty of new features and a faster and easier interface. The kind of poses Little Dragon mentioned will be supported but please post also your own requests. I'd like to know more about those ERC poses.
Any one can drop me a mail to ilari.pihlajisto@mbnet.fi to request new features. I'm available every second weekend (Friday to Tuesday) from now on.
Regards,
Ilari
Thread: Kind of OT: Goodbye members! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Joerg,
Fortunately I can use my own socks. All the other equipment except underwear is the same for all recruits. I change socks about two times a day but that isn't always enough.
Thanks for the tip, socks really are that important here.

Phew! Finally some free time. Thank you people very much for your supporting comments. I think I'm going to sleep the whole weekend, I'm so tired. In the army I get up at 06.00, wash my teeth in 30 seconds, take a shower in 2 minutes, eat my meals in 8 minutes and so on. Always in a hurry but still I have to stand still 1/3 of the day. I'm now very familiar with my new best friend, 7.62 RK 62 (upgraded Kalashnikov AK-47) assault rifle. I've been told it's still the best in the the world though it's a year 62 model. Actually all my equipment is from the sixties (except some clothes from the 80s and 90s). I can take my rifle into pieces in 5 seconds and join the pieces in 15 seconds. I just love my gun. Next Tuesday I'll have to march 25 km with all the battle and camp equipment. In total the weight will be about 50 kg. It will be a doomsday. Only 6 weeks left as a recruit. BTW: One of the most important things in the army are clean socks. Sometimes I feel like I could kill for a pair of socks. I'll be back, Ilari
Thread: Create a MOR File with MAT Pose Edit (Tutorial) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Wow, you're fast Ron. Thanks for making this mini-tutorial for MAT Pose Edit.
Mazak,
Possibly the reason why the full body morphs didn't work is that you used a pose file as a base. Poser can save also morph channels in pose files but not full body morphs. In a CR2 the full body morphs of course exist.
Here's how to add FBMs to a MOR file: Open the MOR in MAT Pose Edit, Import BODY actor from a CR2, Delete all pose channels and finally set the right values for the FBMs.

I understand that you don't have much free time because I'll soon be in the same situation. My compulsory army duty begins in the 8th of July (only one week left!) and I can only get home for weekends (not every weekend though).
Most of the Finns spend their holidays from the army in a pub but I think I'll just sleep and surf the net. So I'm ready to work with you on the tutorial but only during weekends.
I've noticed that you've been very creative recently. Keep up the good work, this community needs you. And when you have the time, e-mail me about the tutorial project.
This is going to be a real pain (the army). I'll probably get back to civil life after 362 days of serving my country. I hope I'll stay alive and get used to being bald.

Congratulations Ron, Dodi looks very good. MAT Pose Edit can't properly handle pose channels extracted from a CR2 if the character has IK on. But fortunately there are no problems with morph channels.
I'm not very good at making tutorials or help files so I'd appreciate it if someone (especially you Ron) made a proper tutorial for MAT Pose Edit.

You could also try my free MAT Pose Edit utility. It lets you control all the properties of the materials and saves a lot of time. No more text-editors.Ilari
Thread: how do i use mat pose edit?!? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There's a MOR tutorial in the MAT Pose Edit Readme but here's the easiest way to make a MOR (without full body morphs):
If you're willing to make a MOR with full body morphs, or a MAT+MOR pose I recommend reading the MOR tutorial.
BTW: I'm going to release the next update of MPE in a few days.

This is kind of my mistake. The required components should be included in the package but the download bandwith of the server is very limited so I decided to make separate download links for the components.
Check the Troubleshooting page in the Readme. It will help you out.

If you have Pro Pack the window shows up if you click the "Setup" tab and then go back to "Pose" tab.

It's working!!! Thank you brycetech for the quick update and the very useful tool. I always greatly respect people who offer their hard work for free.
I think lmckenzie's point was that the runtimes (the dlls, not the ocxs) make the package bigger. And since most people already have the dlls you could just provide a link to the runtimes download page for those people without the components. Of course the full package is easier and most people have a fast connection nowadays (I still have a v90 modem).
Thanks again,
Ilari
Thread: Creating new Mat poses for Cleopatra hair | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I may be the one responsible for this problem. I can't tell anything yet before I get some further details. Open the hair file in a text-editor (I use UltraEdit but also Notepad will do) and search for the "Tail" material at the end of the file. It should look like this (of course there's "Tail" instead of "Hair"):
<font size="+1">material Hair<br></br>
{<br></br>
KdColor 1 1 1 1<br></br>
KaColor 0.499992 0.479408 0.435004 1<br></br>
KsColor 0 0 0 1<br></br>
TextureColor 1 1 1 1<br></br>
NsExponent 30<br></br>
tMin 1<br></br>
tMax 1<br></br>
tExpo 0<br></br>
bumpStrength 1<br></br>
ksIgnoreTexture 0<br></br>
reflectThruLights 1<br></br>
reflectThruKd 0<br></br>
textureMap ":Runtime:textures:Zygote:Hair:MMWedgeCut.jpg"<br></br>
0 0<br></br>
bumpMap NO_MAP<br></br>
reflectionMap NO_MAP<br></br>
transparencyMap
":Runtime:textures:Zygote:Hair:MMWedgeCutTR.jpg"<br></br>
0 0<br></br>
ReflectionColor 1 1 1 1<br></br>
reflectionStrength 1<br></br>
}<br></br><br></br></font>
Mail me this part of the file to ilari.pihlajisto@mbnet.fi and we'll probably get this problem solved. It's easier to use e-mail and I may have to send you a "debugger" version if this proves to be a bug. Ilari
