re. the boid - I have a problem with where it's situated in the image - it's directly in line over the house. wonder how the pic would work if the pov was moved so the house was slightly out of the frame at the left, so the picture didn't look quite so complete and enclosed? The composition seems a bit stiff, might be interesting to make it a bit more 'tunnel-ish' Re the pond-edge, I was searching back through the messages yesterday, and bookmarked this thread http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=107&Form.ShowMessage=1625181 because it looked so useful :)
Thread: Screen Resolution Question | Forum: Bryce
1024 x 768 I got a flat screen with my new pc, but chose a 15" one rather than the 17" regular screen I had on the previous pc. I haven't regretted getting the smaller screen - the active pane seems to work out at the same size as the old 17" screen.

My vote is for number 2 as well - but something's not right about the mouth (unless it's a caricature of the guy?).

Thread: I would not do that to my girlfriend | Forum: Bryce
Sheesh, I dunno.........I waited interminably on dialup for all the pics to download to see what was so shocking, but they look like photoes that any aspiring model would have in a portfolio! Speaking as a woman with adult daughters, I wouldn't be hugely shocked if I came across photoes of them like that. Maybe years of life drawing has blunted my sensibilities, but I thought she was pretty, well-shaped, and that her husband is proud of her and wants to show her off.

Hate the typesetting anyway - caps at the beginning of words made up of caps. And the N doesn't work, looks like it's made of playdo. just nitpicking.

Parkie - oops, you're right. My eye caught the 3.5 only, didn't notice 2.3 Still, it should give a good feel for the program. I looked at it longingly 18 months ago, but couldn't justify the price to myself. All things come to those that wait!

PS I just found the Back Issues page (duh!) http://www.digitmag.co.uk/backissues/ and couldn't resist ordering Issue 63 as well, with free version of WorldBuilder Pro 3.5 http://www.sharbor.com/products/DIGN0300002.html

ditto! I just ordered it as well. This month's giveaway looks good too, will have to see if I can get it locally. Thanks for the tip, Mike :))
Thread: Can someone explain something to me? | Forum: Carrara
I have to say the banner ads don't bother me, they don't even register as being there - apart from the ones for 'teen boys' and kids. What's that all about? I mainly use the Wings forum here on Renderosity, and the mod there did something or other that filters the banner ads. If you visit http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12445 you'll see the top banner ads cycle randomly, but are very innocuous. Maybe a request to the mod would work?
Thread: Examples of Vectorstyle work? | Forum: Carrara
Quote: There's no reason your stuff should come out only black/gray/white unless ........... you have your settings wrong in VectorStyle. LOL - that's a distinct possibility thanks for the feedback :)
Thread: Examples of Vectorstyle work? | Forum: Carrara
I can't get my head around Vectorstyle at all :(( Obviously, I completely misunderstood what it was all about - I thought it would enable me to export animations as .swf, looking much like the animations I'd rendered. I've finished up rendering normally (either full render or using cartoon shading), saving as gif or avi, then using a cheap little program (Flash Image Builder 16.86 Euro) to convert to swf. Anything I've tried to render as swf using Vectorstyle just comes out black/grey/white :(( I'm sure it must be useful for something........? What am I missing? I'm using it with Studio 2.1

Sorry, I can't quite grasp what you're trying to do. Does it have to be a movie? Are you using Carrara? Have you looked at Scenebuilder, which is free? Doesn't produce a movie, though, produces a Viewpoint Object which can then be rotated/viewed from all angles/zoomed etc. Here's a description that makes it sound more frightening than it is http://developer.viewpoint.com/index1.html?dev&developerzone/5-211_detail.jsp?tool_id=11 (you'll need to copy/paste that link) Here's a link to a tutorial to using Scenebuilder, with an example of what it can do http://training.viewpoint.com/training/vet_content_creation.html
