Very Cool! You have to love robots :) I think the hips are a bit slim on both models but its still very cool. Are the robots setup with IK?

man!!! thats what it was...I didnt think to move the completion slide!!!! ARRGGG!! Did the alpha work or did you just key it?

That is one sweet boat. Looking at that model makes me think of my biggest regret with Carrara...the vertex modeler. This would be my modeler of choice but everytime I select multiple points it randomly shifts, forcing me to ctr-z about 10,000 times a project. I cant wait until the new owners update this project. Anyway...good job.

I LOVE two monitor systems. I do not have one at home right now b/c I am running windows 98 and have only heard bad things about '98 and 2 monitor support. I would move to NT but I just cant go on living w/o some occasional gameplay...and most of my games wont operate under NT :( But if your ok with your system performance a two monitor system is the best treat you can give yourself!

I love Carrara's Ik functions....even if I dont use them I usually set up my models for it just in case. I do have some quick tips for you tho. First if you are going to use a constraint multiple times, make sure you write down your settings. I hate it when they dont match up. I think I found out you could save your constraints in the browser but I have yet to try that...just something to think about. Second Make sure you save and test often...sometimes carrara will forget a setting...I dont know why this happens...but thats why I have taken to writing down the settings....it makes things easier later on. This doesnt happen a lot...but it will happen. Another problem is that b/c the IK tray just shows some markers and not numbers you dont know that the link broke until you surpass your constraints. Again this isnt a major problem, but it is one to be aware of. Lastly when animating, be aware of your tweeners....beizer tweeners make a huge difference. Also on the mech arms and head consider adding an oscillator tweener. When having a mech or person standing still it looks cool to have the head/hands randomly moving...it give more of a living look... anyway have fun...let us see what you come up with :)

Hahahaha...very nice. I dont know why but its sort of fun to do these. I really like your log axle's. I need to use carrara more...you can do so much but it all takes time :)

looks great...I cant wait for bones or a poser plug-in....I want to animate people also!!! :)

I think the best thing to do is to make a time line of your animation and then just guess as to whats going on....do peridodic quick spot renders in the assembly room...and them composite it all together in a program like after effects...this will allow you to correct a lot of smaller errors that you will make. The problem is that you never see the avi texture w/o a render..so make use of that little camera icon in the assemble room....I know it sucks but thats all I was able to figure out :(

Looks good man! For a first model its actaully great! I bet getting those balls in the joints was somewhat a pain? One way to make using it easier later on is inverse kinimatics...this process initially looks a bit tough but its really easy to do. The advantage to it is if you are going to use the soldier a lot you can easily move him into lots of poses....just an ideal for you :) If you get board...throw him into free stuff...I think hes a great model for the upcoming holidays :) -brent
Thread: What makes carrara slow? | Forum: Carrara
I bet you there is a good chance you have physics turned on? I have accidently turned them on while working on a p3 500 with 512megs of ram...it about choked the thing.
Thread: 15mn challenges | Forum: Carrara
Wow...scissors...I'll have to think hard about how to do that before I start it..I hate it when I have to waste my 15min thinking. I think the best part of doing these contests is how much it teaches you to think about the most efficent way. ON my last mailbox I did it with 3 spline objects but after doing it I can see how I should have just used one...these are definatly fun exercies.
Thread: 15min lighter and Help please :) | Forum: Carrara
I have a lot to learn about how the shaders work. My big problem appears to be I was using flat mapping and I had to choose a face. I see now that It was dumb not to use cyclinder mapping...oh well theres always next time :)
Thread: Fifteen minute image | Forum: Carrara
Very nice :)....I hope you have that all set up with IK :) I really like your textures...you make them all or do you have them pre-made? I have found that I do like to make proceedures I just dont have time...most all my stuff is just the basics. ONce renderosity gets its act together and the store works I will probably go buy Clints shader pack.

I dont know but you should remember this when importing the sequence. Avid will only take names like nameXXX. If you name it job7XXX it will be confused b/c of the 7 in the name. Carrara gives you a few different choices in the naming. I know that the Apple Version since 6.0 will take jpeg sequences and @ version 9.0 on the NT it will take both tiff and photoshop sequences. Remember to selection options, autodetect sequencial files in the import menu...then you just import the first pic ie project000... Dont know if this is all or hat to you or what but I thought I would try :)
