Quote - It would be interesting. However, I see that you have quite a bit of AO artifacts in your demo render. I'm wondering if you correct for that, will the hair effect not work afterwards.
I think it will. My somewhat outdated PC takes a while to render on, so these are pretty low quality. I'll try a higher quality render over night and see how it comes out.
Thanks
Thread: Saturn 1B for Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I found a Saturn 1b model here:
http://www.the3dstudio.com/product_details.aspx?id_product=64604
Not cheap, but there is an obj version that you can import into Poser. I've never bought from the site, but it's all I could find. Might also try turbosquid.com. I got some hits there but the command module looks wrong.
If ranman38 takes the time to build one, it will be worth the money.
good luck
Thread: Latest in My Poser8, V4 Saga... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Can't address the missing pz3 issue, but the missing hips on V4 has been in past posting here. Here's my post on it from last time.
I've have had this problem a lot and posted the issue here on Renderosity's forum before. You might look for words like "missing hip" and such and you'll see others have too.
One suggestion that has been made to me is open the scene file (pz3) and look for "actor hip". You'll probably find it is missing two simple lines of code as shown below. You can add them back in and re-save the file (I'd give it a new name) as text.
actor hip:1
{
}
should look like
actor hip:1
{
storageOffset 0 0 0
geomHandlerGeom 13 hip
}
This can take a while if the file is big, and sometimes Notepad won't do it. I use Word to add in the missing info (save back out as text but be prepared for a long wait if the file is big). Sometimes the hip comes back distorted. I usually have to play with the body morphs (like waist width) to get them back into shape. Sometimes after losing the hip, I'll lose the abdomen next. Really weird. I use P7 but see where this has happened in P8 also.
One other tip (as you noted, but I'll repeat). If you catch this immediately upon opening the file, try "revert" which will reload the file. Sometimes the hips re-appear. However, if you saved the file already with the hip gone, this will not help and you have to do the trick cited above.
Good luck.
Thread: Dynamic Hair Renders Thread | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Thought I'd revive this thread. Hopefully more folks are doing dynamic hair renders now. This is She Who Must Not Be Named wearing one of Adorana's free dynamic hairstyles (for V3, IIRC). I didn't do any styling, but I did replace Adorana's materials with mine.
Can you explain a little more what your material settings were? That's really nice.
Thanks

Thread: New (Japanese?) Character!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello,
For those of you who own her, I looked at the web page advertising her and did not see many body tone or muscular morphs listed. Are there any for her like the ones for V4?
Thanks

Thread: Snowmobile for Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the suggestions. I think the one at ShareCG is closer to the type I wanted. I was sure somewhere I saw one of these a few years back, but I can't find it now. We'll see what else turns up.
Thanks again...

Could someone put up a image one one of the BAUM3D trees? I'd like to see what they look like.

Thread: dynamic towel? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
While not really dynamic, there is an A3 Towel Set at Daz. I've used it on other figures such as V4 as can be seen here.

Thread: V4 hips is gone?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
To add one point. I have had this problem a lot and posted the issue here on Renderosity's forum myself. I agree with the above link about going into Word and adding in the missing info (save back out as text but be prepared for a long wait if the file is big). Sometimes the hip comes back distorted. I usually have to play with the body morphs (like waist width) to get them back into shape. Sometimes after losing the hip, I'll lose the abdomen next. Really weird. Thread: a weird one. A3's hip disappeared ??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have this problem all the time with V4. I did a post on it awhile back asking for help.
(http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?message_id=3465646&ebot_calc_page#message_3465646)
I have never solved the mystery of what causes this, but I've had it for months now with P7. The best explanation was one Madrigal sent me which I repeat below:
*"I've had this problem with Mike 4. Usually the hip disappears, sometimes abdomen, on one memorable occasion his chest vanished as well.
I've found it works to open the character's cr2 - from the figures library - and edit it to replace the missing lines in the invisible body part by copying and pasting from a part. that isn't invisible. And changing the actor name of course. If you look in the cr2 you'll see what I mean - it's obvious in the list of actors that some have a couple of lines with Geom in it and some have it missing.
Of course, you shouldn't have to do any of this - and it doesn't explain what's wrong. I only get it when I use characters to which I've applied 3rd party morphs, not strictly Daz ones. Not sure if this is the reason or not, need to investigate it further"*
This is about the best remedy although I agree some times reloading will fix the problem. It seems if you load and then do not reload to fix it and then save, the hip actor disappears for good.
I think this is a Poser problem, but when I wrote them about it, I got the "it's a V4 problem" response. I really wish someone smart could tell us what's wrong here.

Could you post that item in the freebie section? I'd like the Sombrero too.

You're not the only one confused by that. I wrote SM and asked what the hybrid was and got this answer:
"The "Hybrid DvD" is the physical product with an installation for both Mac and Windows.
When purchasing the Hybrid option you do not get a downlaod for the program.
If you need to purchase the Hybrid CD and are still having problems, our sales team can take your order over the phone.

Thread: Custom morphs not loading in poser 8 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
TrekkieGrrrl,
Thanks for looking into this and posting your findings. Can you tell, if the custom morphs are already loaded into a figure and then stored in a pz3 file, does P8 read the morphs correctly then?
Thanks
Mark
