Thread: Mac user problem with 4.03 upgrade | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hmm, I too have never had any problems with installing any of the numerous updates.I'm on a G4/OS 9.0.4/320 ram and a G4 Cube/OS 9.0.4/320 ram and neither has had a problem. I did however have a problem with one update while still running OS 8.5, but it cleared up with the latest Poser update. By any rule, turn on every OpenTransport extention you have. It seems that the OS wants all of them to run these things corectly. Also make sure you have the latest OpenTransport files. Get them at Apple.com updates. Other than that I can't place my finger on what might be going wrong. James OR trade in all those socks and sweaters you got for the holidays and update to OS 9 giggle OSX looks nice but is far from ready, a TON of bugs in the public beta.
Thread: Texture Question, please answer | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is indeed puzzling, for I agree with Jon. This doesn't look at all like the correct texture map. Even with different lighting the "Girl Next Door (GND)" texture as Jon noted, has different colored eyes and freckles. Please make sure that you have the correct texture loaded in the materials requester. It looks like it is rendering with the default P4 Female texture which gets loaded when you open the figure. And double check that all parts are pointing to the GND texture. I.E. The eyebrows, lips, iris etc. James

Bijou, Thank you so very much for that insight. I really did not know the cost of international web browsing. Very informative. On that note , I can't stress enough to all who do put up free items, to compress them as much as possible. Things like a large BMP should be avoided where a smaller jpeg will do. But that's a whole different thread, so let's NOT start it here giggle Again thanks, because sometimes we here in the USA forget that there are other methods and other members from across the seas. ;-) James

Good to see you finally post here Dan ;-P I know that when the dust settles that DAZ 3D will be a boon to this community. I'm also sorry that you have to wait for your purchase Bloodsong, I know the feeling. I'm a person who hates to wait for anything. I want it now! giggle James PS: Dan, tell everyone that the Calander is up for sale and if they didn't get an e-mail, give them the particulars.

Thanks so much for all the feedback. I don't think any of it is bad. As a matter of fact, all of it is good. I have struggled with the whole idea of the store for awhile now. And this certainly gives me a good tone to what as I thought the forum thinks. The reason I asked, is that I agree with a lot of the sentiments here that a lot more attention here has gone the way of commercialism. But as always, the die-hards and regular members still keep this forum alive and well with plenty of FREE stuff also. I do agree that if you plan to SELL something, that you should also be an avid follower and contributor of the forum. Whether it be helpful hints, good constructive criticism, or a few freebies thrown our way. This way to me is always the best advertising and first step towards trying to sell something to this community. As always I will continue to contribute to this, and other forums as I have always. By inspiring and helping where I can, and of course the occasional freebie. So Tribe, for you hobbyists, I have not forsaken you. For you are the backbone of many forums. And as for a more complex item, well that's a matter of taste and opinion. The hat is (trust me ;-)) of the highest quality, and is in my opinion a much needed item for a lot of fantasy renders. BUT, I agree, that the public demands more. giggle So I will, if I even decide to sell, will combine this with several items of the wizard genre. Such as My "Gandalf-like" morph for the P4 Male (including the texture map! And maybe one for Michael), a wizard staff, a lantern, and some other items. I'd like to get an opinion on this too. But this would increase the price (still dirt cheap though). I'm so happy at the outcome of this thread. Thanks so much to ALL who took their time to answer. Sorry this message is so long, but it is something I needed to know. I look forward to contributing continually to this and all the other forums. James PS: The very best to all for the New Year!

Thread: MAC guys, help with website please... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My suggestion is to take a few days off and really immerse yourself in the manual of GoLive (You might want to upgrade to 5.0 also). It is a great program, and the manual is not to bad as manuals go. You can also set up GoLive to be your site uploader. Or you may want to get a free program like "Fetch" or "Anarchie" to do your file transfers to the web. Creating a downloadable file is quite easy as dcourt touched upon. Just create a file folder on your site (any name will do, but keep it something that makes sense, like "poserfiles"). Upload your files to this folder and they now are accessable to the community. The link should now be something like : http://www.mynewsite.com/poserfiles/texturemap.jpg Remember that the internet likes certian files like jpeg, gif, zip and sit. avoid files like Pict, Bmp, etc. If you want to create a page that shows the available files, you can just create a page with the appropriate links (again read the manual). Hope this helps. James
Thread: I've seen the Calendar and it Rocks! DAZ (Zygote) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Bloodsong, I can only speculate when DAZ/Zygote will be acepting orders.I'm hopeing that when they see how eagerly everyone is chomping at the bit, it will expidite matters. But you can only move so fast. I don't know if DAZ/Zygote are back from the Holidays. I'm sure the wait is almost finaly over. Just hold off just a litte bit longer. I can't speak for DAZ/Zygote, but I can only say, that you all have been exceptionaly patient and your patience will be rewarded with a high quality calendar worthy of DAZ/Zygote. James
