Thread: HELP! No shadows | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If this is happening with spotlights, it may be that the distance from the light to the object/figure you want the shadow for is tooo far away ...just my two cents jen

Thread: memory low message | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I agree with everything that's been said here. I'd only add that there is an additional update that CL has regarding memory issues...think they call it Poser Pro Pack Memory Updater and it's for Poser Pro Pack users with greater than 1GB of total memory (RAM + virtual memory = more than 1 GB.) to run normally. I use XP also and I've had the problem when I'd do a "new window" render and it fixes the problem immediately. just my two cents jen

Thread: Help on how to distribute freebie | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
oh my, that hurts!! I've had the same difficulty with not being able to check the box for "save as morph target", which is what the tutorials say to do. So I'm also interested to hear what solution someone comes up with for you. sorry I can't help, but good luck with this. I hope you can get it to work, because I love that top pic of your transformed sara! jen

Thread: Anybody have any stats on Renderosity members internet connection speed. . | Forum: Community Center
Hi Richard, I can't give you any info regarding the distribution of connection speeds for members here. But I use a dial-up connection and have an opinion about the bigger versus smaller files issue. Since you have your files posted at your own website, I can use something like GetRight download manager which will let me resume an interrupted download where it left off. So I would rather have just the one large file rather than multiple smaller files. I do get a little nervous about a large download using the Internet Explorer downloader (which is what gets used by default for most downloads in the free section). Though it happens very, very rarely, a download can end prematurely and then you have to do it all over again since the IE downloader doesn't pick up where it left off. just my 2 cents...thanks for being interested!! jen

It's not just you. I made the same comment when I took the survey. The navigation bar at the top was recently converted from text to images to keep the font size from shifting (due to people having different browser settings, I think). But for some reason the nav pics don't automatically load from the computer's cache on each subsequent page but often have to be re-downloaded from the servers. If that problem could be fixed, I think it would help with the page-load time alot.
I'm not an HTML expert, but I think there is also a way to code the text so that its size stays constant regardless of the browser settings, in which case we could go back to text on the nav bar to speed things up even more. At least I know I've seen other website which have the font size controlled to make the size unaffected by browser settings.
Maybe an HTML guru can chime in on that?
just a few thoughts...jen

I use dial-up and hesitated when I saw the over 9mb file download size. Has anyone checked to see if you can get the filesize down by zipping it?? I've seen some .pdf files that compress pretty well when zipped (sometimes as much as 50% reduction). Everyone's pretty used to .zip files here so I don't think it would be a problem... ...just a thought jen
