Now my turn for my two ( uh, what is the slang for euros? ) Is there a equivalent phrase for the American ( Yank? - egad is that a sexual based slang? =:-P > ) Anyway is there an equivalent for the phrase ( two cents. As in LET ME PUT IN MY TWO CENTS ). Marshmallo, camel either refers to the humped things because of the feel of the image reminds one of the interior some bedouin tent or it means a camel ( cigerette - have a smoke ). I personally like that you managed to capture the smoke comming from the candle. I think you can capture the flame by using a flash. Personnally I always have problem with candles. Hey Alpha or sombody isn't there a filter which you can use to remove the yellow. Look around I think you want to remove the same wavelenght of light which comes from sodium. So anything which would work well for flourscent lamps should work. Now that I think of it. Kodak make a program which can make allowances for flouscent lighting. It's called Photoenhancer. Personally I think it's better this way you have a wonderfull mood here. But just my opinion. Bsteph

Yes have a differn personality for each name! That is so fun and cool. Welcome aboard Jart. You made coments about the medication I take. Look at you. You already have MPD ( Multiple Personality Disorder ) =:-{ ) > Good luck with this. I have about 5 different handles I use depending upon where I am. At least I hardly use two of them. But a couple of times I have forgot and used the wrong one. Remeber when I signed a comment with my real name! Are you always going to use this name everywhere? Nice name buy the way. It is more professional sounding than BIGB or RGBguy ect. Sincerely, Bsteph

Perfect pic. Guttsy person to edit a photo using that program. You used the PHOTO EDITOR FOR WIN 95!! WHY? I mean seriously.... WHY? Ok, now that I have that out of my system. My version of win95 has a program called Imaging it's created by WANG. I use that in a pinch if I'm doing something for somone on a system which is not mine. Plus it about 10; make that 20 times better than Paintbrush. ( What a snob I've become. I remeber when I used to use to use windows Paintbrush all of the time! ) You mean that you use the windows thing all of the time? Finally, why do you torture the dog this way! You are going to have horrible dreams filled with gnashing teeth and rubber deserts. =:-B >

Opps. I already added some more stuff. ( Actually I originally wanted to but I couldn't think of a way to make them fit at first. ) Hmm. Too sharp. Thanks for the tip. I think I could have used one sharpen filter on the face ect too many. Ok I'll soften the edges some. I was trying for a forground and background effect. It's hard to tell I think my moniter may not be long for this worrld. Then sometimes it seems fine. Your coments are valuable. MJSheperd and always appreciated. that's why I ask for them. I often am too close to the work to see it objectively. Now I'll read your next coment. Bsteph

Thanks. It still nees some work though. For one thing I want a much larger picture. Which may mean that the resulting picture could be roughly four times large in memory space. =:-P > I'm not too keen on such large files if I can avoid them. I'll give it a try later tonight. I started off last night with a full head of steam but fell asleep at about 2:00am. I decided to give my project a break and do something easier instead and post it. Since I haven't posted in quite a while. Hopefully I'll get it right tonight. Bsteph

I am glad your mother is in relative physical health. I understand what it is like to live with physical reminders of our brush with motality. Voting will be tough. I assume we don't vote for the winners of what ever group we are presenting within. Or do we and everyone assumes that we can be objective? Bsteph

Thread: Please explain the contests. | Forum: Photography
Hello Jimmi, Here is what I dug up using the search for contest in this forum. I hope this helps. Jack, I spoke with Tammy at RR about how to set up the contest. Any input here would be greatly appreciated. We thought what would be maybe a good idea is to post here first, narrow it down once all the entries are in, and post the entries on the front page for a voting poll by all RR members, giving the photography forum and its talent a chance to be seen by the entire community as well. If this is not agreeable, I can only think for us, here in the forum to vote first, and then send that group to the front page. So post away, and for all who read this I think maybe just to caption the image as: March Contest: Industrial (level)or something like this. As I mentioned before, we are working on getting sponsors, so please, all, to your benefit, beginner or advanced, we could really develop this into something special and worthwhile, so dont be shy, dont be concerned over your level of expertise or not, just enjoy yourselves, and begin. Syyd and I have been giving this some thought, and would like to make a comment (OK it's really a suggestion, but because I am still new to the forum, I want to make sure that I am not offending anyone). From the images I have seen, the people posting here appear to have wide range of experience and skills. Because of this, I think it would be unfair to have everyone being judged by the same criteria. I think it might be wise to consider splitting the jugding into two categories. Category One would be for people with intermediate to advanced skills. Category Two Would be for Beggining to Intermediate skills. The choice of which category one enters their work into would be up to the individual. Overall, I think this might be less intimidating to some, and actually work to level the playing field for all. However, this is just a suggestion and I am just one person who may have it all wrong anyway. Alpha101 Great idea, now why didnt I think of that ;-)? Or do art like you do LOL????? Okay I am going to post this as an addendum above, (last time I wrote "see Below", to find out we move up, instead of down Syyd Syyd, I like the idea of the our group doing the voting, and then presenting the results. I say this for three reasons. First, by limiting the voting to our group, we can be relatively sure this does not turn into a popularity contest as you mentioned in an earlier post. Second, by keeping the voting limited to members of the forum, we are providing greater impetus for others to join the photography forum. Third, if you view the images listed under photography art gallery "Whats Hot" the number one photo is actually a poser file. In addition, the majority of the images there seem to be viewed and rated on sexual content or inuendo rather than their artistic qualities. All of this is just an opinion that I am putting out to all of you as food for thought. Alpha101 So to recap. You post to one of two groups. Beginner or Intermediate-advanced. Then you vote when it's voting time. The voting is limited to the forum members. Then Syyd posts the results. I may have missed something. If so would someone please fill in the spaces. Bsteph

Ahh. Thanks. I suppose I should bother to use the dictionary I own. Figures that biological creatures would have a different spelling. I'll try to watch my grammar I know I often type bye instead of by. I try to keep a sharp eye out for it but... Thanks. Bsteph

I agree. Photoshop can be a real witch to use. In fact I frequently don't use it because it's easier in PSP since I am better aquainted with it. Of course I think Photoshop ultimately is better. Usually what I can currently do in photoshop I can do in PSP. Except there are no paths function. Using the lasso on a picture larger than my screen size is a real pain. Bsteph

No. No. I meant is it your own rose. I figured that this was your picture. Actually I assume that everyone's post is their picture. Poor rose. I'm sure after the excavation it will be gone. sob. sob. It will be missed. Bsteph
