Some postwork is often necessary for touching up blemishes, broken joints, bad shadows, etc. And I mean necessary. But it's nice when the render comes out perfect first time, which is when people often like to draw attention to the fact that postwork was not needed. As to heavy postwork - adding filters, blurs and stuff, or even changing whole elements of the composition - well, that's very much a matter of what effect you want to create.

Correct, except once someone emailed me for permission to use a prop in a commercial render. I said, "look at the readme - it says you can". Sometimes when someone uses one of my props they put a credit under the picture. Sometimes they don't, but I don't mind that. I like the fact that something I made was useful for someone else. I think (hope) that's the main reason why people do give away free stuff. All this "I sweated hours over that mesh" talk - let's face it, we do it because we like to do it and we like to be appreciated. The only time I was a bit peeved was the time someone used one of my props and credited it to someone else!

However, if you post a picture of an aroused woman here, the picture gets yanked. Happened lately to someone I know. She was told quite distinctly that arousal breaches the TOS. That person has now left the site.

It wasn't so much a combo as Bryce 3/3.1 and any version of Poser. Really a bug that was fixed in Bryce 4.

You do have to be careful with texture names in Poser. Call them all "Preview" and they will be indistinguishable in Grouper. Many problems with Grouper can be fixed using the grouping tool in Poser to rename textures to sensible things (like "hair" for hair).

Little Dragon, since SFAIK a cr2 processed by Morph Manager is indistinguishable from one hacked by a text editor, it would hardly make sense for Mason to try and put restrictions on the resulting cr2 files. I echo the sentiments that MM is an invaluable resource, and I am extremely grateful to Mason for making it and making it available. Along with Mover and UVMapper, what would we do without it?
Thread: Anyone know of plans for Bryce 6 ? | Forum: Bryce
The feature to import a pz3 file would, I think, actually be quite easy to implement. I think it should form part of a 5.1 upgrade, not 6.0, if Corel want to keep ahead of Vue. I would like to say also that I would be AGAINST including full 3d modelling capabilities in B6. It's often much better to use the right individual tools for a job than to try and combine them. Better to have a hammer and a screwdriver than a hammer with a screwdriver stuck on the end. Try and put everything in one box and the result becomes too cumbersome to use.

The x-axis 180 rotation only applies to Bryce 3. You haven't said which version of Bryce you are using. I notice that the ridges on the sword blade seem to be continuous in Poser and discontinuous in Bryce. That is weird. BTW John, the problem is partly due to the fact that Poser only writes a subset of the MTL format.
Thread: Poser to Bryce help Loosing my mind | Forum: Bryce
You don't list exactly what the problems are and the images aren't as clear as they could be, but it seems to me that (a) the texture on the shoulder plates aren't mapping correctly, and (b) in Poser the hands have skin texture, but in Bryce they have armour texture (looks like gauntlets). In the second case it must be due to how the hands have been selected. Using Grouper (see freestuff) you can put all the skin in one mesh and that makes life easier. The problem with the armour is a bit odd. I suggest to check (i) that all the armour pieces do use the same image texture (look in Poser - render materials); (ii) that all are mapped parametricly (as in your shot, so I guess they are); (iii) that you haven't got the scale changed or the texture rotated for some reason in the case of the shoulder plates. It should make no difference if you textured all the armour in one go or bit by bit if it all uses the same image file. But if you ran it through UVmapper (NOT necessary) you may have screwed up the mapping.

BAT Lab is wonderful. Someone suggested that the move from the old site to the new one where only one download is available per week is due to bandwidth problems. I'm wondering if any Japanese speaker here could inquire if this is the case. It might be possible to help BAT out with hosting elsewhere. I'm sorry for the people who have missed out on the previous BAT Lab clothing sets.
Thread: Free Stuff - please change the default | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This topic comes up every so often. In a previous thread, someone consulted a lawyer who said that IHO any picture posted here is arguably "commercial use". You may not be selling it, but by posting it publicly you are advertising your ability and increasing your commercial worth. My free stuff (not at this site) is free. If you can advance your career by using it, I'm happy for you. It's a present. You can do what you like with it, and that includes passing the zip file on to someone else so that they can enjoy it too. The only thing I ask is that is the user doesn't try to sell my meshes or pass them off as his own work. And that's only sensible, because anyone who does that always gets found out pretty quickly with bad consequences.
