Thread: V4.2 Arrives! Problems and issues shared here. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've had the new v4.2 in my runtime for a number of hours now and see no advantage to it at all. In fact, I still have issues with fingers that don't bend and other minor annoyances that won't get fixed untill i go into my alternate runtime and delete the alternate V4.1 I have there. The pain in the butt is not at all worth the hassle this lemon seems to be causing.

Cimarron, that's a good idea about the supported products thread! Funny bit is that the first UNSUPPORTED & UNTESTED product would go to Daz3D and it's new Victoria 4.2....
Yes that was a shameless poke...heeheehee.
But seriously, there are vendors who do take the time to test, it'd be nice to have a listing of them, as well as untested products that work, and those that don't.

I installed V4.2 according to the instructions [ here](http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=77545&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0) and the only issue I have is the creature morph for toe claws and the male morphs do not work, plus she loads with all the basic morph++ data the same as V 4.1 did. I take it this is because i neglected to get rid of a V 4.1 I have in a separate runtime, and there is a conflict. If this is the case, Is there a list of the files for V 4.1 and her morphs that should be deleted so I can do this manually, as I also have no uninstall for the second runtime copy?Thread: No product support for DAZ|Studio | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Personally, I could care less if the content is in Daz format or not, all I'm concerned about is will it work in D|S without too many issues. Most D|S users know and expect certain things won't work as expected. A simple warning that the product uses Poser specific lighting say, or shader node textures would suffice I think.
But the point that is being made is one that should be considered...there is a growing number of Daz users, especially as the program develops and improves. Since I started posting here (since 2005) I've noticed the Daz gallery grow quite rapidly. I don't suspect it will cease to grow any time soon either unless Daz does something really stupid. The fact of the matter is that poser content can be used by several programs and this needs to be considered in content development....man it must suck to be a vendor some days.

I have the V4 bodysuit and it's quite versatile with all of the standard V4 morphs plus some style morphs as well. It has a lot of material zones as well so on its own its very versatile I find. Combine that with opacity, displacement and bump maps and you can do quite a lot with it. For armor padding, I'd fiddle with displacement maps in the texture, that should get you the effect you want.

I wonder if dual processor makes a difference or not?
I never entirely trust the manufacturers specs, especially when it comes to 3d related apps. I found the recommended specs are often minimum.. (maybe I'm fussy too, but that's another story)

I found one for V2/V3 for sale at www.contentparadise.com/us/user/sanity_product_3286
That's about all I could come up with though.

I also had a brief look in freestuff here (and came up with nothing), but you may need to get creative in searching. I know I saw one somewhere...but that was over a year back. I'm sure it was here.

Thread: Mirror question. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I'm not sure what you mean by the "ray trace shader node" - are you thinking of Poser? Oops, I meant the advanced surfaces tab. Been playin in Eilir again.
Not true. the renderer needs to be set to ray trace (that is, 3Delight rather than OpenGL) but the lights don't require any particular settings.
Well, ok, that's true enough, but if TrickE76 wants shadows he at least needs to set the light parameter to shadow mapping. I recommended raytracing out of habit, as I use it exclusively.
Thread: Mirror question. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Your scene lights need to be set to raytrace first of all, not shadowmap. The raytrace shader node also needs to be set to any color other than black, and have a value higher than 0. I usually use 30-50% for most surfaces, and maybe up to 60% for something very reflective like window glass. It's also good to set the reflective color to a non-white value, like a very pale gray for instance as most surfaces are not perfect reflectors.
A bit of a warning though, lots of reflective surfaces can bog down your system unless its fairly high end.

I'll have to admit the only thing I'll ever use poer for is in making rigged characters, props and clothing. At the moment I have no way of doing that. Although, There is a program from Daz called Greenbrair that does rigging, for $99 or something like that. What I'm waiting for is the release of DS 2, I'd like to see if it goes from being a free program to a purchased one.
