Understood. I didn't know you were doing comformed clothing.
The mesh is unsuitable because the mesh itself or because is made of traingles ?

Quote - "PropViewer doesn't change the number of vertices and its position"
So sad, because that is what I want.
You have requested a tri to quad converter and this what PropViewer does, but this is not you want. You need something to do remeshing as decimation, simplification, gridification, etc and not conversion of tris to quads. If the final mesh has trinagles or quads is the less important thing. In most cases all the quads will be converted to triangles at rendering time.
Quote - It is better to work piece by piece instead of taking on the whole mesh at once.
This is correct. Any mesh processing method will fail if your mesh is not two-manifold. In your jacket there is a button that will complicate all, you must sepparate the button from the cloth. Sepparate as two groups or slit into two meshes and process each group/mesh alone.
Some remeshing methods also requires that the mesh cannot intersect itself.

The mesh to the right was changed, it was decimated, simplified, some kind grid parameterization, Poisson ???, Laplace ???, (don't knw the correct names). PropViewer doesn't change the number of vertices and its position, neither UV. It only combines two triangles into a quad where is possible.
MeshLab has a lot of tools for editing and correcting meshes or scanned range data, sometimes crashes and the output is always a triangle mesh. This doesn't matter because once you have a regular grid of triangles in the way you want you can convert into quads using PropViewer

Download PropViewer and convert it to quads, it converted the V4_jacket pretty well.
Remove the txt extension from the file

The most important thing is to have the knowledge. Many people study and receive a paper called "diploma", but they know nothing, so unless they are politicians or son/daughter/relative of someone important they go from place to place and in the end they end doing other things or secondary and less important thing with less payment.
On the other side, if you have the knowledge but haven't the piece of paper called "diploma", sometimes you have problem and you are barred because you haven't this piece of paper. Even so, you can manage pretty well and have a good and well payed job, after all you know how to do, and this is what is important.
If you have the knowledge and a also piece of paper called "diploma", it is a perfect combination and all the doors are open for you.
Knowledge is for free, you can learn by yourself and today with internet is very easy, the only thing you need is the desire, dedication and discipline to learn. If you don't want to learn you will not learn.
If you want the piece of paper called "diploma" then you must pay for it or someone else pay it for you, it is not free!... Well in some countries it is for free....
PS. Before you think anything, I have the piece of paper called "diploma"

In one scene I put several props + Vicky with one million polygons.Other scene had a prop with 1.5 million polys.
Poser refused to load a prop with 10 million polygons.

If you want to convert triangles to quads or quads to triangles you use PropViewer and it does more things too. http://www.ShareCG.com/v/47408/view/11/Poser/PropViewer-3.2Stupidity also evolves!
Thread: I know what color gold is - finally | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As you can see it doesn't look as gold and as I said before I haven't the appropiate shader for gold. What made look as gold were the reflections even if fake.
The second interesant thing was that in the second image where the gold look much better I used instead of Phong (left) the Lommel-Seeliger shader (right), nothing to do with gold and metals, this shader is made for rendering the Moon!!!
The Lommel-Seeliger shader produce a strong illumination at glazing angles, so if it made gold look better it means that gold has strong reflections at glazing incidence angles.

What makes gold look gold is not the color itself, the illumination effects makes gold look as gold.
I did some quick experiments, as I have no gold trimmed shader and no raytracing I did it with what I have.
In this image I used standart Phong for specular channel, a modified not Lambertian for diffuse channel and a modified environment mapping and three directional white lights.

Quote - Yes Kawecki! You describe exactly what I did. I measured the color at low and high incidence angle and use the single Fresnel to blend between them.
Good, if it worked this is the way to solve the problem.
All is a big confusion, I am working on different models for metals, there are so many models, Beckmann-Kirchoff, modified Beckmann-Kirchof, Cook-Torrance, Sparrow-Torrance, He-Torrance, Ward and many others, and you can add several different shadowing functions, but ..... which is the best ??????

Quote - After building the 3-channel IOR and seeing it produce pink at the edges of gold,...
He,he,he. Here is the problem. Pink is red + blue, two colors of the extreme of the spectrum and are subjective colors. In physics we measure and tabulate the parameters by wavelength, but we don't render by wavelength. We render using only three primaries and a red primary, for example, it is not only a red light, it has the peak in the red spectrum, but has also orange, yellow, green and even blue colors, even with smaller intensities. If we change the R intensity we are changing also the blue intensity. We are not able to change the red color without changing the other colors that makes part of the primary. The same thing happens with Green and Blue primaries.
I don't know how to solve this problem to create images. Maybe use two gold colors, one for normal incidence and one for great incidence angle and then use the Fresnel as the blending factor for these two colors.
ADDENDUM: Use for refraction index glass and not metal for the blending Fresnel. In metals the Fresnel factor changes very little, so the blend would be useless.

Quote - but who the hell decided that metal is refractive
It is not, but it is a way to solve problems. A perfect metal will have an infinite index of refraction and in metals or conductors the refraction index is a complex number (real + imaginary part). Ok, something imaginary is something that doesn't exist, it is only an abstraction, but this abstraction has the physical meaning of how much is reflected and to where and the imaginary part produce a phase shift of the incoming wave (polarization efects and blah, blah, blah)
