Too late for that for me.  I needed that about 25+ years ago, when everyone I met kept asking me what the heck I or anyone else could ever possibly use a PC for. (Sheesh, I really just wanted a word-processor. Veritas, et al, I'm getting up in years and maybe I'm just getting too cynical, but I've seen so much deceptive advertising over those years it makes my head spin.

Being donquixote, I would love to live in a society in which false and misleading claims are appropriately punished, but I honestly think that there is so much of it that the FTC must be too overwhelmed to deal with any but the most blatent and harmful violations ... 

As a matter of fact -- not to bash capitalism or "the system" or anything -- but the need to sell something just to eek out a living (or sometimes in the hope that one might actually get rich) makes inveterate, professional liars out of an awfully lot of what would probably otherwise be fairly honest people, from insurance agents, to software developers, to politicians, to advertisers ...

You name the profession. You will find plenty of liars.

I don't like it any better than you do, but things are the way they are ... at least until they are not. Fight the good fight, and good luck with it. But just keep in mind that there is a very good reason that the phrase 'caveat emptor' is from a long dead language and yet remains such a cliche.

I have a 64bit system with 4gigs ram and even with everything I can possibly get out of memory, Firefly in P6 locks up on me sometimes with (relatively) large (or complex) renders, i.e., say 2400x3000 or greater. I have to use the P4 renderer some of the time. Is that just me?

timefighter, the rule I see is that entires "may not be previously published," and I would guess that not everyone agrees on or knows what "published" means. Apparently, some took it to mean published in the more traditional sense (by a publisher), rather than simply posting it on the net, whereas I took it to mean (as you apparently did too) not previously posted anywhere.

Okay. Spoke to Tom and think we have things straightened out. Looks like the first order did not go through. I had a valid pre-order number but it did not show up in their database. Hopefully, I won't get billed twice or get 2 orders now ...

I don't know if it matters, but I did not order it trhough CP, but through the e-frontier site. In any case, I did not see anything to click labeled 'search all past orders ...' and the orders listed did not include the Poser 7 pre-order ...

I'm not sure where to post this, but I can think of no better place than here to receive a timely comment ...

I succumbed to the marketing and ordered the Poser 7 upgrade Wednesday and have never received any email confirmation as the order page indicated I should. Also, the system seemed a little glitchy at the time, i.e., after I entered my user name and password, I was taken to the 'forgot password' page where I entered my email address thinking I might have entered the wrong password. I never got that email with the password either. And as I noticed after the fact that I was indeed logged in, I went ahead and placed the order, but now I'm wondering if something went terrribly wrong ... ?

I've emailed e-frontier twice now, once yesterday and Wednesday night, and have still received no response.

Has anyone else had this experience? Anyone think I should worry, or am I simply too impatient?

And if the former, does anyone know how to more effectively contact e-frontier to discuss and hopefully resolve this?

But it was not my intention to convey that these are my products, and I thought that forum was for that purpose, i.e., for merchants to showcase their products. I am not a merchant in the sense that others here are. I am simply selling a couple of graphic tools I purchased myself some time ago. If I were more specific, it would be clear, but I did not want to use this forum, or renderosity, to promote their sale, but merely to inquire as to recommendations as to where might be a good place to do that.

I will look at the product showcase forum, though, and try to determine whether it is appropriate after all for my purpose.
