lol - well actually I was looking for individuals from the Poser forum here. As in: If you discuss 3d on facebook, send me your info, we can discuss together :)
But thank you for suggesting the bigger stores anyway. I will look them up.

to add - another idea that might up the sales would be to find a few ww2 backgrounds to include that do not have useage restrictions.
just tossing out ideas that might help.

I personally think that if you feel it is worth your time to put it up for sale (includes a lot of runaround) then go for it. Hopefully you do some work on the textures, at least, first though.
However, I can tell you from personal experience that something like this is probably not going to sell very well. By that I mean you will be lucky to sell 20 copies. I know all the buyers beg for venders to cater more to the niche market but in reality that just doesn't make money. To my opinion the only way that works is if you are actually capable of pumping out tons of products in short periods of time. The niche market would actually do well with a group of venders contributing in collaborative efforts.
Now if it's just a hobby for you and you are perfectly fine spending that time to make just a few bucks, as I said, go for it.
I do think you would do well to possibly add a few items to the set. If it's a war helmet, maybe blood splatter possibilities for the textures as well as the dirt and grime that others have suggested. Even so I'd consider reducing your price to $5 to increase your odds of selling more copies.
Someone else mentioned the Japanese WW2 Helmet. Perhaps you could model a full set of helmets for that war? That could increase your odds of selling as well.
My comments are intended to help your profit margin - no offense intended, at all. I admire the abilities of anyone who can model anything resembling real life. :)

"im very impressed with your work , and even more impressed with your willingness to listen to others opinions.... :O)"
Ditto!
I worked with a guy before who would ask opinions, and then argue against every one of them. What the heck is the point of that. It was super annoying....
Anyway watching with lots of interest. There is quite a lot to be learned here :) I think this model looks fantastic to start.

Thanks for this info, it has saved me frustration of finding out later that I was going to have trouble with my v4 installs.

Thanks again for the new replies. I'm sorry I have been so slow to say thanks I am not getting notifications from this thread and searching on this forum is...../sigh.
I come back and after about 5 minutes of looking for the thread, I'm like pee on it, I'll go do something productive lol.
I did get poserpro2012. It feels like a whole new program to learn. Well not so bad I suppose at least I am familiar with the controls. But there were a few things that were not so easy.
Like installing - I download about 10 zips with the install, no info where to put them. Then when I install it kept telling me that it didn't find those zips. So I tried putting them in the same folder, extracting in the same folder...etc. Reinstalling each time. They are obviously content, and now I see it seems I am suppose to install them after installing. Why not say that instead of giving me an error message like I did something wrong lol.
Then I'm not sure if I'm just stuck in my old ways or if I don't like the content tab. At least I finally found it. I guess I do too much of my work without enough coffee. Either way I seem to remember liking being able to see the thumbnails right to the right of what I was doing. On the other hand maybe I will like this better once I get used to it.
Now I have to spend time today wading through these forums, trying to learn everything about weight mapping. Aparently that is the new 'Ambient Occlusion' (read: the new 'OMG must have')
As for this thread, I suppose I'm going to book mark it. Even though it's nearly run it's course - that way I can at least be polite and respond when someone responds to me :p

Thanks again for more of these informative replies - ESPECIALLY the sale link for the Posers lol :)
Just a small clarification - I have actually only been gone for about 2 years, but I had said "If anyone has been around for the last 5 years or so" because I figured those people would be aware of both what was going on before I left as well as what happened while I was away.
I was just going to leave that one, but so many say "Whoa, five years is a long time" lol, felt the need to fix that one. :)
I really really do appreciate all the advice and opinions. Makes me very nostalgic for the old community days here.
Thanks everyone!

/waves Acadia, Gareee, Dustrider - very happy to see familiar people still around
There have been a lot of very informative replies, thanks so much for that. That is the community spirit that I have missed.
3anson - your post was actually very helpful and hit directly on the type of information I was looking for.
I agree with Laurie, there was no need for a sh*tstorm lol
I really appreciate all the feedback, based on this I think I am going to stay with Poser and Poser based models. I am more familiar with that and it seems it is still the more popular option.
My goal is primarily to get back into the marketplace so knowing what people are currently using and buying for is great before I make the investments.
Last question: When people say those programs are half off right now...Is 249.99 half off for Poser 9 ? and 499.99 half off for poser pro?
And if I am interested in creating for the marketplace, is Poser 9 still gunna do the trick for me? - I really really don't want to spend 500 on the program, knowing darn well I probably have another 500 I have to spend in utilities and items anyway. If so, well I guess it is what it is, but I'm gunna keep my fingers crossed until someone replies to this last part, lol

This thread is almost as nostalgic as Dork/Judy themselves. Who would have figured I could take this long of a break and come back and the same thread would be on the front page?

Thread: Marketplace reviews dishonest? | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Wanted to take a moment now to thank Debbie for resolving this issue for me in a satisfactory way. There does appear to have been some miscommunication between parties which explains part of the confusion. Unfortunately the Vendor remained adamant throughout - but Debbie pulled through for me.
I appreciate the quick resolution and concern for the issue. Thank You.

Thank you.
I am still getting site mails from the vendor demanding that I delete the set from my library. I don't think this is right. If they wanted to give me store credit because I was unhappy that is their decision but it is not right for them to Take my purchase back from me, and unless I am forced to - I wont do it. They should find better ways to deal with unhappy customers than this.

Thread: Marketplace reviews dishonest? | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
*""A refund was issued at the request of the vendor, and usually when that happens, it's assumed that the vendor and customer have been in contact with one another.
Once a refund is issued, reviews are removed since the buyer technically no longer owns the product.""*
This was NOT the case. I did not contact this vendor and I did not request a refund. I wanted to, and still want to keep the package in my library - and make whatever use of it I can. This is why I DID NOT ask for a refund. I believe it is my right to keep something I purchased - right?
This vendor took it upon themself to issue a refund after my review of the product was made. Then deleted my review. Then sent me a site mail demanding that I delete the product from my library. This is not the way a free market and honest review system works.
This vendor is obviously trying to make a deliberate attempt to deceive potential buyers by silencing anyone unhappy with their products. I truly hope this issue sees its warranted attention.
