In Carrara, don't think about the softness of shadows as in Poser. You have to set them up way higher, around 100 or even 500 with some lights. Give it a try ;)

The checkered pattern, i had the same provlem some times ago. And i haven't find any solution :(
It seems to occur when your texture has very small repeated patterns, like your actual texture.

Instal the first zip into your Runtime, the second one is the VSS2 Prop only, and should go into the VSS Prop library. Hope it helps :)

Perhaps you have some body handles or dials to move it. Some cloth like this skirt could have this instead of beeing purely conforming. Try by selecting the body or the hip part.

There are some texture maps in the RSS for the Unimesh, so i guess it won't apply correctly on a figure that doesn't share the same UVs. But it's not possible, as you could still make yourself a similar map for the desired figure. So it's really really handy :)

Sorry for the render, but my computer is actually in the store for some upgrading, so i have none of my tools to play with :( ... since Monday!! iirk!

There is also that great addon PicLens that allows you to scroll through pictures on a 3D wall.
It works with Goolgle, Yahoo, DeviantArt, PhotoBucket, SmugMug, Flickr and Youtube.
I've made my gallery in my site PicLens friendly :)

It sounds strange to me that adding hair will turn the AO off Oo
I already used this hair in some scenes with AO without any problem.
