I believe Traveller over at Morphworld already did 'sock morphs' for poser character feet among the zillions of morphs he's made - go ask him about them.

For it to work best, you also need to go into the material and turn OFF the "cast shadow, recieve shadow, and self-shadow" options in the material. Glowing things with shadows across them just do NOT look right. It's really important to do this with the material on any object that is supposed to be giving off light, such as flames, etc. In addition to the material looking more realistic, if you then stick a light source inside it, the light can radiate outward unobstructed.
Thread: My official request to Renderosity Admistrators to ban Legume | Forum: Community Center
Vive le petard! ***** P.S. - Legume, I think that translator thingy would work better if you FIRST translated your statements from your mother tongue into english, and THEN used the translator. Last I looked, the Martian-to-French translator was still full of bugs. ;o)

27 hours for "Temple of the Moon, Sanctuary" which is in my gallery. Old P-II, 400 w/ 256Mb ram. Not all that complicated a scene, but oh those reflective surfaces!
Thread: Morphing Eyebrows | Forum: Poser Technical
Ask Traveler (morphworld.com), who has done thousands of morphs and is the reigning master of morphery. I have a number of eyebrow morphs from him that work with p4dork.

Thread: A New General Topic Forum? | Forum: Community Center
I'd sure go for a new misc. discussion forum, with strictly applied rules right from the beginning. In its better days, C&D was a lot of fun for the regulars, all of whom managed for the most part to converse without the flame wars it finally degenerated into. I also don't do chat, and never will. My whole way of accessing, usually from work because that's where I have a dsl connection, is to pop in for 3-5 minutes or so whenever I have a little downtime, but as soon as something shows up in my inbox, I have to log out and go back to work. Under such circumstances, chat is simply NOT an option.
Thread: Hot 20 or Clique for Weanies.....:) | Forum: Community Center
Basing it on thumbnail clicks did NOT work at all and that's why it was changed. I often was conned into clicking on a DECEPTIVE thumbnail and then saw a pic that absolutely sucked or was mediocre, but the click had counted toward a hot20 status for the underserving pic - and there was NO way to take it back, however much you might want to. Back then, it was a "top 20 THUMBNAILS" score and nothing more. In fact, I got so incredibly burned out on deceptive thumbnails that now if I see ANY thumbnail that looks like it's just a tiny portion of a larger pic, I will NOT click on it, PERIOD. I also will not EVER click on any item without a thumbnail at all. Personally, I think thumbnails should be required for all gallery entries, and they should be required to be mini's of the FULL pic. Anything else leads to deception and fraud, not always, but far too frequently.

Kate - make that 22. However, the last time this concept was shot down, as I recall, there was a vote going on about whether people would like it, and the "yes" catagory was way ahead, and then there was suddenly an announcement that the whole idea had been dumped. Somebody in the PTB did NOT like the idea at all and apparently when the vote was going counter to expectations, the whole thing was scuttled. And whoever that was/is, I expect they'll fight and/or overrule it again.

I haven't got 5 yet but am really looking forward to it, primarily because of the user libraries.

Definitely MUST be greyscale to be imported to the terrain editor. I'm pretty sure it's 8bit.
Thread: Materialize and dematerialize | Forum: Bryce
(This assumes you already know something about doing animations in Bryce.) Use the animation controls inside the Materials editor (at the bottom). Set a key frame at the last point where it should appear solid, then go to the frame where you want it totally transparent, and change the materials so it's invisible, and set another key frame. As Bryce generates intermediate frames between the two key frames, it will change the materials, a bit at a time, so the object goes from fully visible to fully invisible.
