"So how do you redo the .bum files"... The easiest way (once you have realised there is a problem) is to open up the offending source files (.cr2, .pp2 etc) in a text editor, search for ".bum" and replace it with ".jpg". If the jpg is in the same directory as the .bum file is supposed to be, all will be ok. If not then either edit the source file to point to the correct directory, or else let Poser search for it (which can take some time..) (Be sure to save any edited file under a NEW name - don't overwrite the original. Wait until you've successfully loaded the new file; then you can delete the original and rename the new file to the original name.) Alternatively, if you have an object that you can eventually load (after locating the files manually), save that character/prop or whatever back into the folder it came from (with a NEW name again). Thereafter it should work.. (BTW: I use Poser 5 and run on a PC. Things might be different with other set-ups) Hope this helps.. Cheers, Diolma

Thanks for that tip, Foxx! I got exactly the same problem (hanging with "loading textures" displayed) with a light set I got with a product that I bought which had been developed with P4/PP. I found after much experimentation I could get it to work if I loaded things in a specific order, but it became a hassle trying to remember to do that (and anyway, I like to add lights towards the end of a project so I can do lots of quick renders to check everything is in the right place and textures applied properly etc.) I'll forward your tip the the product manufacturer.. Cheers, Diolma
Thread: what is the definition of a rem-inj-mat daz content component ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Errmm.. Be careful about moving the Inj/Rem files to another directory/folder. V3 has an "Inject all" facility, which adds ALL the morphs from the other directories into your figure, -- BUT it expects the files to be where they were installed. If you move them, Poser will try to find the relevant file (tum-ti-tum-ti-tum --- go make cup of coffee), fail, then ask you to locate it. Then it starts searching for the second file (tum-ti-tum-ti-tum --- go make cup of coffee).... and there are probably about 100 files, if not more, that it can't find! (That's a lot of coffee..) But if you think you're only going to use a few of the morphs at any one time - well, go ahead and move them. I moved all of my V3 MATs into a folder under the pose folder, which helps LOTS when I'm not using V3 'cos I no longer get finger-strain while scrollong down past all the extra folders :-) (BTW - I use Poser 5 (which DAZ doesn't support) and am running on a PC. Things might be different with other set-ups..)

ernyoka-- I bow to your superior knowledge! I only have Poser 5 (I used to have Poser 3, but that was years ago), so didn't know about the RSRs in the geom. folder. I'll shaddup now! :-)) Cheers, Diolma

James, Ignore the .RSR files - they are not your problem. The .rsr files (and/or .png files, depending on which version of Poser you are using) are the files that provide the "thumbnails" when you open up one of the libraries in Poser. Without them you just get the "shrugging man". The PZ3 files contain complete scenes and can go anywhere you want (Personally I use a folder called "+++MySaves" under the Poser directory; the "+++" prefix is to kep the file near the top of the list when the "Save As" dialogue opens.

(for both Drake88 and xoconostle), I confirm that P5 still works the same way for saving characters in figures/library folders

I reel back and wonder with awe and amazement at the reply posted by "geep" (and, no, that is NOT sarcasm!) I really am impressed!!
Thread: Got P3dO Explorer? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I consider p3do an excellent program (especially at the price:-)) although it occasionally dies if if file-switches are too rapid. My main uses for it are a) to to trawl around for a relevant texture, and b) to see what files are referenced by a poser-file (so as to correct them and speed up loading in poser). With respect to the latter, I'm working (s-l-o-w-l-y) on an app of my own to do this semi-automatically :-))
Thread: Continue looking for missing files? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Coo! More interest!! Hogwarden -- I don't want to try to compete with you, but I do want to try to complete this project (anything to keep me sane-ish) xantor - if anything ever comes from this (no promises) - it'll be PC + Windows 2k only (and probably need LOTS of refinement) -- but thanks for the support!! Any further suggestions welcome!! Cheers, Diolma
Thread: Continue looking for missing files? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the replies, folks :-) Any beta-version of the "PoserFileFixer" (must think up a better name than that) would be free; if ever completed then the final product would either be free or sold for a minimal cost - depends on how I feel about the program. Thx too for the "Correct Reference" link, but I'd better not download that in case it causes me to lose motivation to complete my own version... This is the 1st time I've tried to write a fully-fledged Windows program, so it's a bit slow going. If I'd written it as a command-line program I might have finished it some time ago... The idea I have for the final program is that it should be able to scan all the Poser libraries (character, poses props etc.), extract any file references, try a quick attempt at finding them, then if not found allow the user to locate them. Once all files for a library file found allow the user to either overwrite the original file or write a new file. Also, to be able set all file references to be relative to the Poser directory (which might be of help to anyone distributing their own files to other users). However, I'm a long way from that yet - really all I wanted to know was "Is there any interest?" Cheers, Diolma

LOL Phil! But the word you were looking for is "Drawers":-)) "Drawers" = the things you pull out from furniture chests; also "Drawers" = an old term for "Knickers" (ish) -- so it works both ways!!!
Thread: poser 5 question - don't know if this has been asked yet | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As far as I'm aware, Pro-pack has, in effect been incorporated into P5. (I jumped straight from P3 to P5, but so far everything that has been labelled "P4-pro-pack" has worked perfectly in P5)
