Clearly upon visiting this viewpoint website, I find that it is all about profit, and has nothing to do with art, in anyway. The "vision" here is $$, and if people are naive enough to fall for it, so be it. But I digress...yes, many of us have modeled better than this with rhino-at-3a.m.-and-3-pots-of-coffee-on-a-lonely friday-night-right-when-you-run-out-of-cigarettes. Bryan
Thread: ChaoSlayer98 & Libussa should learn how about constructive criticism... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'll have to agree with blackhearted on this one. Even though we expect constructive criticism (and deep inside we all want justification that what we are doing is "good"), when we post to public forums like this we either consciously or subconsciously know the ramifications of doing so...and if someone doesn't, then he/she is naive. I personally think that the image is fine, and with more work, it will be an excellent image, but if we are to get heated about the overly negative comments, then perhaps one should also be upset about overly gracious comments. Both are a hindrance to helping/coaching someone to be a refined artist, whatever the medium may be. Bryan
Thread: WIP-comments welcomed | Forum: Bryce
thanks for the comments...the image only took about an hour and a half to render at 1024x768. The file is 446megs. I use a Duron 650 overclocked to 900 (running at 200FSB), and have 768megs of ram. When i do a final render after adding more vegetation and trees, and rendering at 3000x2250 and having high space optimization and fine art antialiasing, it will probably take ~18+hours. Will post one more wip in a bit. Bryan

I agree, great first start. I'd watch ambient settings, usually ambient settings set around 5.0-8.7 have a more "real" feel within an image where you are looking for realism. Sometimes ambient settings for objects that are set far apart from each other will look pasted or "odd." Other than that, I'd say you got a nice beginning. Bryan

Thread: Need help with BAD Media. | Forum: Bryce
The SR1 for PPP doesn't address this problem...though I tested uvmapper with the original file that I was having problems with and it seemed to work. The obj loaded into bryce without error and the textures were unaffected, though I didn't scrutinize once I it loaded into bryce. Bryan
Thread: Need help with BAD Media. | Forum: Bryce
I had this problem as well...there must be a prop that is attached to the character that bryce cannot load properly. In my instance I had a p4 character, armor, a shield, and a sword. The shield was the only thing causing the error message...however, when I imported the shield in its normal 3ds format, everything was fine. I highly doubt that any props in poser format or textures etc are causing the problem. check to see what all formats make up the sum of your posed figure in poser and start deleting unnecessary props that you can always add after the main figure is imported. You might also check to see if you are using Grouper 1.1. Very rarely does it create a corrupt obj file, but it can happen. Hope this helps. Bryan

Ok...I moved my swap file to another drive and that helps, however, bryce still uses windowstemp for its spooling, which grows very large...is there config file that determines where bryce places its temp spool files? If I could correct this, I would be in the clear. Otherwise, I have to move my main drive to another with more space. Thanks for the swap file info though...and i'll probably buy another 128 ram chip as well today. Bryan
