P1 Beta. I'd like to find my critique, suggestions, and bug finds. Even after 11 years I know I'm still making some of the same suggestions that Larry and staff ignored oh those many years ago. The manual and disks from P1 release are sitting on my shelf to the left.

Thanks for the info voodoographix. One slight correction... http://www.booksforsoldiers.com/
Thread: get dressed before or after posing? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For me it depends. One thing to consider is how complicated the scene will be. Posing without clothing leaves memory less crowded. SamTherapy is correct in 2, but isn't that a sad statement? You shouldn't click on something to select it? Way back, I suggested to CL that once clothing is conformed to a figure the default when clicking on the clothed figure should be on the figure's segment to be moved and not the clothes. ...but what do I know?
Thread: Can anyone suggest a good Poser 5 book? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you do a search (Link at bottom) using the search terms "Poser Book". You will find many threads on this topic. Also, most recommend that you see Dr. Geep's tutorials. A search for "Geep" will prove useful. There is also a tutorial VHS tape http://www.3-axis.com/default.asp available that has received favorable reviews.

Thread: Question about DAZ's Platinum Club | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Buy for what is there now, not for what MIGHT become available. I gave up hope that they would get into a genre that was of interest to me. I also invested hoping to support and then benefit from the release of DAZ Studio 1.0. I've given up waiting.
Thread: Poll: How far down is dead? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't think that it can be done here, but I have always thought that a useful option would be to allow members to view only the subject of a thread and the number of replies instead of the subject and all the replies. That way, more could be viewed at once. I think that would facilitate people going back more than 50 threads.
Thread: Clearing things up. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Perhaps the artist's family would be honored that their loved ones work was so appreciated. It would probably take some work but you may be able to contact them and ask permission to have the work released to you. You might try this or other Poser communities, or the internet at large to see if contact information can be obtained. Wouldn't it be great if you could be responsible for obtaining permission to release the model to all of the Poser community in perpetuity?

Having read what I could in the previous thread (I hate that people can delete their messages and cause a thread to lose continuity) and in this thread I think this situation was handled better than most I've seen over my many years at Renderosity and what came before. It is always hard to read tone in a message. Perhaps it is better not to try. I have seen hostile messages here from both members and moderators. Believe me, your responses were not hostile and if members wanted to virtually "burn you at the stake", "fuck you", or "shot in the streets" they would have. Perhaps the rude way to handle it would have been an outright and immediate lock and ban. It seems to have happened before. Perhaps the rude way would have been for members to jump in with either choice or nonsensical words. That has definitely happened before (I'm guilty). Instead it appears that people responded directly, but respectfully. With as much yelling as their is about the inconsistencies and problems with this site one thing that seems to remain clear is the goal to protect someone's work. "I now realize that I should never ask for people to do things for me. I can't model worth jack in any case. Do you think it's easy to make a 3D model when you have cerebral palsy and poor spatial awareness?" Please don't over reach or over analyze. We all have challenges. Do you want pity? This has been and is a generous community. Look for available freebee substitutes or perhaps politely request that one of the very talented modeling members help you out.
Thread: Poser's Interface: What to keep and what to change? (no gripin'...) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Place body parts in cascading menus. Have a "meld" function where clothes are melded to the body so that when you select thigh you always get the persons thigh and not their pants Use L & R arrow buttons to switch body sides

I agree with ynsaen. It is different and has a learning curve. Be prepared for a slow down in productivity that will pass as you learn more.
Thread: New PC is Built! Prepping for Poser 5 now... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use it for teaching movement analysis. For example http://www.georgiasouthern.edu/~bmunkasy/3131/Elbow2.xls At times I have tried to make things more "realistic", however, it seems to take too long and, due to my limited abilities, really doesn't appear much better.

Here's my 1/4 cents worth. They're bringing back the deposed CL management, programers, and writers to give them another chance to get it right!
Thread: What is it you want exactly from the Poser Forum here at Renderosity? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know where these suggestions fit but I hope that these along with the others are compiled and sent along. Set flags such as nudity on and have the poster uncheck as appropriate. That way people who want/need to be protected are at the outset. Have collapsible threads. Number messages within a thread (on the thread page) so that when a thread is accessed it is easier to find a particular message with a thread. Provide rewards, such as advertisement latitude, to those people who post in freestuff Provide rewards (advertiesment or otherwise) to "gold" members. That is those who are consistently helpful to the community (e.g. geep, PhilC) Decrease size of top banner Allow readers to highlight (in preferences) certain people's names so that their posts are easier to find Prevent post deletion once there is a response to the original post

I am not someone who does "art" with Poser. I use Poser for functional reasons. I found a steep and as yet unconquered learning curve for P5.
Thread: Poser 5 SR 4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, there are threads on this with a solution. http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1677865 If not sufficient do a search on background I hope I've helped.
