Oh yeah !! The movies do show out nicely the possibilities and the still images at the bottom were really sharp. What do you think about the Training CD offered by Eovia? Is it of the quality to make it worthwhile or would I be better off to do the various tutorials that are on the web? By the way, I registered at 3dxtract this evening. thanks, Louis

Many thanks to all .. the answers you have provided are the answers I had been wanting to hear. Two software companies that I have dealt with in the past 4 or so years have all but driven me mad; so hearing how responsive Eovia is, well it makes my purchasing decision much easier. The workflow and UI feel very good to me and makes sense to my feeble mind. When Eovia updates their 'promotion' page and I see what the next offer is, I will be buying CS4 Pro. Hexagon was mentioned as a modeler, will this replace the modeler in CS4P? thanks to all, Louis

Actually, this might could be viewed as a threat to the President of the U.S. I would think that if the R'osity powers that be had a bit of sense they would make mention of this to the Secret Service. My two cents ...

Yeah I know, I have to read the DAZ adds about 5 times to fully understand what I am buying. :) I did email Next Limit this evening about format plugins for Bryce, Vue etc. I was quite surprised to receive an email from Victor Gonzalez of Next Limit, they are considering plugs for other programs. Sooooo, if we have any developers here, they may have a chance to write a plug for Bryce or Vue or whatever. :)

Actually it looks like you can get in now at $395 dollars for the 'Alpha' version, you will then receive updates through June of 2005 where at that point you will apparently have the full 1.0 version. Not a bad deal actually and especially if they follow through on their development to 2005. I would not have understood that had it been marketed by DAZ :)

BigGreenFurryThing ... thanks for the link. I will take a look, I have enough geek in me that I might just maybe understand it. :) I had mentioned it because of the problem that Dale_B was having. Some folks were having problems installing and running programs because of this new technology. I believe those being affected had XP sp 2 and a later Intel processor. thanks

thanks war2, the rendercow issue is something that I am keeping an eye on for now and I am glad to see that folks are having less crashing. I have systems with Win2k Pro and I am sad to say that VUE 4 and World Builder are the ONLY programs to have died a gory and horrid death. I believe that I shall give the VUE 5 demo a shot this weekend. :) thanks

Thanks all .. I understand there will always be bug issues, having once programmed in C, I really understand that. I assure you that I am not trying to incite a riot or flame war here. Apparently, from reading some other threads, there seems to be some animosity about 'critiqueing VUE'. I really do not want to be involved in those matters. :) I have clean systems that I run other graphic programs on and these programs run with out crashing and that was the problem I actually had with Vue, the constant crashing and freezing. I suppose if VUE 5 is running much more stable for most people without crashing then I would be satisfied and would feel safe about purchasing VUE 5. Of course I will try the demo first. :) Sooooooo ... bugs aside, are people experiencing less crashing and freezing ? thanks

I dumped the Symantec Firewall, earlier this year, after using if for a number of years. It did its job quite well, never had an intrustion...but it was a heck of a hog and with each subsuquent update I began to have more and more problems with Win2k Pro.
I now use Agnitum Outpost Pro and have been quite pleased with its performance. The best part is that all the unusual software problems I been having when I had NIS installed have now disappeared.
Like BigGreenFurryThing mentioned, you can not completely unload the NIS or NAV process. You can stop current activity but if you look at running tasks you will see that NIS and NAV are still very much alive and eating up resources. With Outpost you can kill the process completely.
My next step is to get rid of NAV. The Symantec products have become registery gloats and for me, they seem to make the OS a bit unstable.
edit : I do not know much about this DEB, "disable extended bit" that is all the rave with Intel, but I do understand that it is causing some problems with XP-sp2 and the Intel processors that employ DEB. If someone knows more about this please enlighten us all. :)

Well, I gotta eat CROW, CL did respond to my email this evening .. so now I know the answers to my questions. After I posted my first reply, I thought a little more about your problem. I did have the same trouble with a Dell laptop at work. I do not recall what the graphic was but at any rate, the problem occured because I was using a combination of refresh rates, color depths, and screen size that just was not going to work. Hope this helps.

I have seen something similar to this before, do you have any USB devices, graphic tablet/mice combinations attached to your computer? I have NEVER gotten a reply from CL, most people seem to, but not me. I am still waiting for a response for question that I emailed this past Friday. I must be on their poopy list. :)

I see your point... if there is any one thing that DAZ can do really well, it is market their product. Reminds me of the TV commercials where 'if you order now, we will send you not 1, not 2 but 3 self sharpening pencils for the price of 1 !!' :)
