Please try again...to request them...I believe they did indeed have a glitch last night.

Thread: New Content Download Problems | Forum: DAZ|Studio
9.7.8 was released to the public last night. If you go to the DAZ|Studio page and the appropriate links for your system, the new links to the program and base content will be given to you. From what I could see (on my own accoun) the links were for the old version and I think that's why they got wiped out.
There are also some bundles in the store which may be of interest to you. Among other things is a starter pack which further enhances the faerie base content and adds more stuff.

xantor, Version 0.9.7.8 is now available to the public. You can do the request for download links, per usual, though the front page to DAZ|Studio page. The base content will include some of the Faerie content and environment. You may also wish to look at some of the bundle starters that DAZ is offering as they include more content, Bryce and othere things that may be of interest to you. Cris

Understood about P5. For me, though, there are other aspects that make me like it for the way I work. As for lights, I hate the way you work with lights in Poser from a physical standpoint: namely the lightball. I want a better representation of where lights are, an easier way to position them and that's what I get. I can multi-select materials and apply textures/settings to all of them. I can select any part of any object in my scene and say frame that selection and it fills my work area with that selected part. I can select a body part to rotate and i get circles which show me the actual direction something is going to bend, twist or move side to side - something that makes me absolutely mad in Poser (especially if the hip is no longer in a zeroed position on the axes). Open GL lets me see what I'm going to render better...oh, to SEE the transparencies. I can make a library of anything I want and have it contain all the parts to it...if I create a Goth Girl, the same folder can have her material settings, her clothes, her poses, her lights, any cameras. It can be all one scene or broken up into its parts that I just merge. There's more, but I'll stop for now. :) As for a public release of 0.9.7, keep watching for word from DAZ. It will either be this build or if they find they need to fix enough bugs, it may be a slightly different build. It is a beta, so it is still changing. Cris

Byrdie, I forget that there are a few things to tweak because of the lighting models (in the advanced tab of the Surfaces Tab). If you take a look at some of these threads, you'll get a better idea of why you're encountering some of what you are and what you may be able to do to change things for a better render. http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=6060 http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=6518&highlight=first+renderThread: New D/S Test Render In Gallery | Forum: DAZ|Studio
It will read MAT files. If it involves materials for P5, there is a difference in the way the two programs handle shaders, so they are not interchangeable. Although there are ways to simulate similar shader types...it's a matter of settings in most cases. Remember that for the best "quality" render, sliding all the way to the right is best. If you need a good, fast render, then sliding all the way to the left to "speed" is the one you want to try. Cris

Actually, as I said, as long as it is large enough. A 3000-4000 render will give you a fairly good quality image to print at....anywhere from 8 inches to 16 inches depending on the type of printer, inks and paper. I've done printing for years. If you mean you are clicking open GL in the settings, that is not the same as using the Speed/Quality slider. Slid all the way to the left is Open GL rendering. Slid all the way to the right is 3Delight. I don't use anything between. Open GL rendering will not do any raytracing.

This is a little star made in C4D. Pointlights are used to do the lighting. Others have posted their own experiments in the thread.Thread: Exploring Raytracing in Studio | Forum: DAZ|Studio

Default lighting is not meant to be anything but an adequate overall lighting of the figures in a scene. IMO, the Studio default is nicer than the odd beigy default lighting in Poser.
When you use default lighting on a figure such as this and then include a very sunlit background, it will make the figure flat and dark in comparison.
You do not mention what your render settings are. Are they set to Open GL render or 3Delight or something between. What render options do you have set?
I do not quite understand why you can't render higher than 800x600. I have successfully rendered 4000x4000 without a problem for a while? What version of Studio are you using? (By the way, if your image is large enough, the 72 dpi is rather irrelevant.)

I haven't seen the Shade manual, so I can't speak to it, but among the many I have seen, the C4D manual is among the very best ever written, IMO. Cris

![NewBeachBabyFaces.jpg](http://www.elektralusion.com/download/girl/NewBeachBabyFaces.jpg) These four new faces are made with the Girl Moph Pack (available at DAZ) and are saved straight out of P5, so I have not stripped out all the other morphs. That means it works best if you apply the face first and then a pose and any other expressions. My tester said they applied fine, but please let me know if you encounter any abnormalities. Thank you and enjoy.Thread: The girl has arrived? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I took her into C4D and looked at the object information and it read 32,438 polygons. Cris

MC, now you know that we all use models that are Poser-compatible in way more programs than Poser. I use mine mostly in Cinema 4D, Poser 5, Lightwave, Bryce, and Studio. Studio is DAZ's program...it only makes sense, to me, that they would want people to see how their program handles models. There are enough people who will be showing the Girl in Poser. Cris
