On limiting movement, don't forget to turn limits on after your set the min/max on the dials (another one I always forget).

Very nice job -- you got the atmosphere down, that's for sure. It looks like you added all the walls and other scenery into one .pz3 file and just had your figure walk through the scene? Did you run into any RAM restrictions? That looks like one of the more extensive scenes (in terms of 3D objects) I've seen. One suggestion -- you might insert a brief close-up headshot with your character exhibiting a suitable creepout look. (Perhaps you have one immediately before or after this clip)

I second that suggestion to try and find Ulead Mediastudio 5.0 for $99. It was originally over $400 I think when it came out several years ago. I got my copy for $99 at egghead.com surplus last year. Timing is right, because they're about to put out version 6, so you could be in line for a pretty cheap upgrade (if you can find the $99...)

You can also spot Posette during the video/animation montage at the beginning of "The Full Nelson," a dumb talk show on Fox News Channel.

I fixed this problem by finding the file on the CD and manually copying it into my Windows/System directory. The program opened up and seemed to work OK after that (all I've had time to try is a test render on some primitives).
Thread: new P4 patch | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had a problem installing the patch. I got an error message -- my poser.rsr "is not valid and can not be updated." My Poser 4 is the original, unpatched version 4.0. There's nothing wrong with my current version (that I know of). The only variable is that I installed it in its own directory on my 2nd hard drive rather than in the default folder, but the installer found it OK (just wouldn't complete the upgrade). I also still have Poser 3 on my system, if that matters at all. I'm emailing these notes to Larry as well.

Thanks for your quick replies! I got it to work using the "Poser file library editor." What a nice little tool. Thanks, John Stallings, wherever you may be....

One more reason to use CD-R/RW for backup (which I use): Adaptec has just put out Easy CD Creator 4, which is their software you use to burn your CDs. It now incorporates their Direct-CD product. If I understand correctly, Direct CD is supposed to allow you to treat your CD-RW like a floppy, i.e., you can write, delete, rename files directly to the CD rather than having to actually do a full burn. This floppy-like flexibility is one of the attractions of Zip or Jazz, but I keep hearing about their instability. Anybody have any experience with Direct CD or care to comment? If it does work like this, its enough to get me to upgrade from version 3.5 (which works very well). Street price for CD Creator is about $99, with a $20 rebate for upgrades.

Wow - I really like the lighting and the reds and purples. Very different than anything I've seen here. I also like how it leaves a lot to the imagination...
