Rendering starts sometimes and then cuts out - but other times just hangs and I have to Ctr/Alt/Del Carrara out. it doesn't matter what rendering settings. I really can't figure out the problem - it's a complex scene - it renders in C1 ok but not in C2. - as a matter of fact - it appears that I can't even get it to render with the raytracers in c2 either. I need to do a bit more investigation into this problem - it's anoying the hell out of me!

No errors - just never starts - I have to control-alt-delete to stop Carrara. I'll give that stuff a try.

Now I'm confused - I've never been able to understand render settings - that's the settings that I have it at.

YEAH, it's the seaside image!! I can do it but only at 400dpi 1200x1600 res and only in Carrara 1.1. I really wanted to try GI on it - but I guess I'll have to wait. Thanks - I'll try to send them the file.

Uggg - I knew it! Didn't eovia listen to anything we asked for? Ahhh, man :( But I look on the bright side - right? Oh, oh, - Litst - here's maybe the all time question ..... ready ..... DID WE GET THE "NUDGE" KEYS BACK??? please say yes!

Litst - thanks for the great pics the rendering engine LOOKS fantastic! But - what? No bevels! I'm really disappointed - but I think this goes along with eovia's plans - the intergration of Amapi into Carrara (why have redundant abilities in Carrara?). I got a question - can you back load an image into the modelers??
Thread: Image Help - any ideas? | Forum: Carrara
Thanks guys - I have had some difficultly coming up with a decent lighting scheme for this pic - right now I'm using only one distant light. I haven't had much luck with the 4 elements "sun" light. Any tips on positioning or type of lights that would be appropriate for the scene?

Thread: Questions on RDS & Carrara | Forum: Carrara
I've used RDS and Carrara for a while so I think I'm marginally qualified to give you some ins and outs. I'm a big critic of Carrara, but only because I love the damn app, so no holds bared :) Carrara is a huge bang for the buck - I really recommend it. The Interface Well, if you've used Bryce or Poser you have a good idea of what Carrara feels like. Overall, I like how it looks - not so complex as MAX. Carrara and modeling - Well, there's a hell of a lot you can do with the modelers - but there's a lot you can't do. There's no NURBS or other advanced modeling tools (heck you can't even make a simple beveled edge!) although Amapi 5 comes with Carrara for free - it helps to make up for Carrara's lack of some basic modeling tools, but has its own learning curve. Overall, I'd give a so-so rating to Carrara's modeler- but when you get to know its tricks - you can do some amazing stuff. This is probably Carrara's weakest area that needs serious improvement. Will it happen? Export/Import - Carrara support obj files pretty well, but there are some quirks - I know there's a tut out there for importing Poser stuff. Rendering - I like Carrara's renderer but it could be better. It's better than Bryce's but doesn't have the options of MAX or lightwave. Carrara 2 will apparently have a new render that will knock your socks off.

Wow - great thread guys - a lot of great feedback on my Q. Sorry about the loaded question but I'm really glad to see that people are happy with the price/value of DAZ stuff and Poser as a whole. Thanks for your input.
