Thanks everyone, You certainly are all right about the lighting. The composition is what has been bugging me the absolute most. Flak what you have said has helped me a lot, I think the angle of the camera is what's throwing off the distance and creating that bright white haze at the botom of the foothills. The image is portrait size, I think if I do it in landscape and lower the tower it might help with some of the depth. I agree the characters need more randomization. Bryster, I may have gotten it wrong from the movie's interpretation, but what Bandolin says I think should be taken into consideration. I actually read Tolkiens books when I was 8 years old. I am 36 now. That was long before the movie was made. So I did choose a little artistic license here. However I may have to sit down and watch the movies again and get some inspiration just to finish this piece.

@ Aldaron No actually I didn't know that bit of info, but I didn't mean anything disrespectful at all. I just would like to know what the benefits are of owning both programs. I think if i'm gonna shell out $400.00 for the software I at least would like to know the benefits of owning them both. If MW simply makes terrains... even if it's whole worlds, doesn't Bryce already do that? Plus you can import people into Bryce as well as all types of models. You can model objects with Bryce's terrain editor and metaballs. Can you do that in MW? I can import terrains from MW but I already have terrains in Bryce... So what I would like to know is what are the benefits of owning them both? I'm not trying to be hostile at all. I'm just simply curious. ;-)

I wouldn't exactly say it was like Bryce on steroids. I mean sure it has some pretty spectacular terrain capabilities. But lets be honest here. That's all it really does. I would say it's like a really expensive terragen more than Bryce on steroids... If doing just landscapes is your thing then go for it, but remember you aren't gonna get the same things as you get in Bryce. Which are to many to list here. This is only my humble opinion.

I was just wondering you said it doesn't neccesarily need to be a scene from the movie, as long as the flying machine is pre jet engine... So I'm assuming that the scene doesn't really have to be that era? Can it be any type of scene as long as it includes that type of machine? Like sci fi, fantasy, etc. etc. Or do you want it more along the lines of that films era? Secondly in response to CrazyDawgs concerns, I am wondering since it doesn't matter what application the model is created in is it acceptable to use various parts of other models combined in bryce to make a new model? Example wings from a plane, wheels from a bicycle etc etc... That may help solve some concerns about the modeling. Sorry for all the questions I just like to know my limits before I get started ;-)

Yes I agree with Orbital, and if you would be so kind as to date and time stamp when each was uploaded that would be great as well... :-}

Actually their addy should be the same once it's back on line, they are just changing servers, to something more powerful.

Epilogue is in the proccess of moving their server. It should be back soon. I display there so I'm waiting on them as well.

I honestly think I sound more upset than I am. I'm pretty hard to get ruffled actually. Also I am down sick with the flu. You all know how that can make a person Just kill me now and get it over with... :-P

That's why I was asking ;-) I wasn't sure what they meant.I guess it was the fact that he remarked (Overdone!!!) I mean what else could that mean? BUt at the same time it doesn't really matter what he meant. The point is everytime someone submits a piece into the Bryce section there is almost always some issue within this forum about it being there. Be it mine or someone elses work. Whatever happened to just doing the work because of the enjoyment you get from it.
@Ang I'm not upset... I am merely utilizing my right to free speech. ;-) If my opinion differs from everyone elses, then so be it. That's just how I feel.
@Sambucus I'll just have to wait and see what I will do. Maybe things will calm down here. I just like to do my art without the extra added benefit of having to listen to all the whining. I joined this forum to learn about Bryce. Not to learn about how this person is not really an artist...Just popular.

"Whanfried said...3 pictures in the Bryce Hot 20, ( on Monday, February 7, 2005 1:26 CST), are it worth to be there. (overdone!)"
I'm not sure what the issue is here. Are you saying that someone has 3 pictures in the H20 at the same time? The reason I ask is because I had 3 in there at the same time. Believe it or not I did try and space them out so that didn't happen. I don't ask for people to vote for my images. Believe it or not I haven't been here all that long on Renderosity. Maybe I'm not understanding the way things work here, but I assumed that being in the H20 was a good thing. I thought it was a testament to your work.
@Zhann If you look at my gallery you will notice the views on my images only range from about 300 - 600 views per image. When I submit on Epilogue my images get 5000 - 8000 views per month. My point is I wouldn't exactly call the exposure you get on Renderosity Popular.
@Robert J. I'm just curious about Rochr...Do the people that ask him to do a commission piece pay him for his work because he's an all around nice guy? Or is it because of the professional quality to his work???
I upload my images here because when I first started doing Bryce I really enjoyed the environment of the Bryce forum. Somehow It just doesn't seem nearly as friendly anymore. Since I almost always do post work in Photoshop after I do an image, I think I'll post in the Mixed media gallery, that way The other Brycers can submit thier works without fear of me cluttering up thier H20. You know I understand why Pogmahone and others feel the way they do. The difference in me and her is I won't give anyone the satisfaction of pulling my gallery. Instead I will post in another forum. Maybe after all the good people on this forum have left then maybe things will change around here.

Try this it may help. Otherwise do a search for more tutorials on importing poser to Bryce.Thread: Shhhhhh-moking | Forum: Bryce
If you use Basic triangle in the DTE change it to a volumetric. Then in the DTE change all 3 components to alphas change color mode in 1 to multiply and color mode in 3 to blend and randomize you can get some very interesting smoke effect. I hope that made since. :-) Bah Just experiment with Basic Triangle you'll figure it out :-)

I think the deadline is already past for spectrum. The deadline was Jan. 21. They will be taking entries again in October.

I think it's not unusual for there to be a fee for these types of competitions. Wether or not it yeilds you any real exposure... That's the question. I wonder how the artists did exposure wise in the last competition... All published artists will receive a FREE hardback "Collector's Edition". See Volume 1 below ....at the "Special Offer" price! That's the part I'm not getting. Where's the free part???
