Thread: Songbird ReMix & Nature's Wonders WIP previews | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
Here's a bird I just upgraded from the 2010 "SBRM Australia v2" (the complete update of v2 should be done in about a month)

Yes, there are specific reasons I did those habitat sets... not just because I wanted accurate environments for my Nature Wonders critters and Songbird Remix birds, but ones that when you decided to feature those characters actually looked pretty good up close as well. I'll probably do at least one more when I get to upgrading the duck pond set.
But first, more bird updates. I'm determined to finish the SBRM updates by the end of the year (or at least get real close). I may throw in a new NW set or two-- I have a partially done Turtles v2, Frogs v4, Moths v4 and Dragonflies v2, so those may get some attention as I hit slumps in bird building. On the new bird set side, I still have a ready to rig Prairie Chicken/Sage Grouse model awaiting morphs and textures, more parrots, woodpeckers, bee-eater sets I'd like to do, but again, those updates need to get done... hopefully I'll be starting seabirds/pelicans/puffins early summer

Here's a couple more preview images from the updates;
The Ivory-billed Woodpeckers from the updated Woodpeckers v1. They're in my Big Cypress Habitat which is a natural habitat for them.
The Greater Roadrunner from the updated "Cool and Unusual Birds v1" with one of my Nature Wonders Lizards and in my Sagebrush Habitat
Thread: IK Manager Python Script for Poser 12 | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
I use Poser IK all the time with my birds... setting the IK once I have it perched then moving the hip around to get more life-like poses. Once I get the look I like, I'll turn-off IK, adjust the body parts so they adhere to limits and voila, I have a great looking pose.
Your tool looks helpful.

Thanks... I guess I can share at least the titles of my two new sets that will be premiering at the end of April...
Paridae of the World (contains 15 species of "Tit" including dimorphic male/females and some subspecies; 27 birds in all) Woodpeckers v2: Woodpeckers of Eurasia (contains 13 different species of woodpecker including male/female, some juveniles and subspecies; 33 birds in all)

Thread: Looking for Hawaiian/Tahitian Flower Crown & Lei for DAZ | Forum: DAZ|Studio
It doesn't look like they changed the store art/descriptions for those, but the "Hula for Gen4" and "Hula for Genesis" store downloads do both contain the Hibiscus flower in them

Quote - > Quote - I probably should have added the Hibiscus flower to each of the other sets as well (and in fact, that will be my project today as well as converting the older DS4 files to the newer .duf format). That should be ready and in the HW store in a week or so. The small flowers you see in the headress are Ohi'a Lehua flowers, which are a mainstay of Hawaiian culture. As far as additional headresses with Tiare flowers or other items-- I might always create more on a whim, but no promises. I did the Hawaiian clothing/weapons/plants/outriggers soley as a backdrop and support for my Hawaiian bird set.
Hi Ken,
Have you had time to work any on getting that Hibiscus crown, etc updated & ready for Gen 4 Hula? You mentioned that you were going to do that a few weeks ago.
Yes,... The Hibiscus flower add-on flower and some minor updates were added to the HW store copy a couple weeks ago.
If you are asking about the additional crown items that " I might always create more on a whim, but no promises." I wouldn't look for those any time soon. I haven't had any free time yet with feeding friends and family for Thanksgiving and gearing up/working on my 4 volume Geese, Ducks and Swans set. The creation of those 4 sets will take my into 2014, though there's a slim chance one of them might appear around Christmas. As I said earlier, my bird projects are my main focus.
Thread: Dawn's Impact on the Poserverse. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Eek! Maybe tomorrow for Dawn's morphs? That would be awesome.
And yay for the horse. Honestly, my favorite Poser horse thus far is the old P4 horse. We really a need a weight-mapped horse. That works natively in Poser.
I don't believe Hivewire3D's Dusk and Mec4D's male are the same-- but I might be wrong. I do know that "Dusk" is supposed to be a standalone male figure-- not a Dawn morph.
The horse, as with all of Hivewire3D's products, will be fully weight-mapped in Poser as well as in DAZ Studio (two seperate versions). HW's rigging team and QAV takes great care to make sure the model works perfectly in both programs-- it isn't a simple "port" from one program to the other. I'll be updating my horse racing items when the model is ready.
The expressions and body morphs the post said "could" be out as early as tomorrow, depending on when it passes Quality Assurance. The QAV team is very tough (I know from personal experience lol), so it might be delayed-- but I'd expect it by next week at the latest.

Quote - It's here, but I don't remember his name (or if he already has one...)
There are several male versions of Dawn that are WIPs. Mec4D's project that is listed above and Ramwork's Bruno. I believe that Hivewire3D is also working on a male figure tenatively named "Dusk".
Hivewire3D also has some exciting previews for Horse fans. Chris Creek is working with Cwrw overseeing his modeling to make the best horse model to date.
...and when will we see the Body morphs and expressions for Dawn? Soon.
Thread: Looking for Hawaiian/Tahitian Flower Crown & Lei for DAZ | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Quote - I have a question, I was looking at your Hula products for both Dawn & Gen4 and noticed that the Dawn version shows several colored Hibiscus flowers which the Gen4(Victoria 4?)does not. Someone on the DAZ forums showed me what he did adding those Hibiscus flowers to the crown alongside those small Baby'sBreath type flowers. Adding some larger flowers helps the appearance a lot. I was also hoping for those six-petaled white Tiare flowers to be available since they're indigenous to the South Pacific, particularly Tahiti.
But does the Gen4 version not come with anything other than those little flowers and the green leafy stuff?
The Gen4/Genesis set (when originally at DAZ) came with the Hibiscus flower as a bonus when buying the bundle. My partner on the project, Ryverthorn added it at the last minute to add incentive to get both. When items moved to Hivewire, that bundle was discontinued and the flower vanished. When creating the Dawn Hula set, I decided to add it as part of the package. I probably should have added the Hibiscus flower to each of the other sets as well (and in fact, that will be my project today as well as converting the older DS4 files to the newer .duf format). That should be ready and in the HW store in a week or so.

Quote - This is a nice gesture from them, but it hurts them financially. They do not see profits from content sold on other sites. Want to help them grow? Sell there. So you have to decide, help Hivewire, or help yourself:) Danger is if you keep helping yourself, there might not be a Hivewire left in the long run. At the same time it's a hard decision just selling there, because they haven't really been tested in the market. So it's really a choice you have to think about.
I took the risk and moved everything from my former publisher to Hivewire, knowing I'd probably take a hit financially for the next year. I obviously didn't do the move for the money, I did it on principle. I had issues with how I and my products were being treated by marketing, and I decided that artistic freedom and having my wishes respected were more important than selling a few additional copies of a product. I made the move to support Chris Creek (a longtime friend). I also wanted to send a message to my former publisher that some artists don't appreciated being treated the way their marketing department was treating them (and some might do something about it). I'm with Hivewire for the long term where my creativity isn't hampered by marketing and the management is upfront, friendly and honest.
To the thread's question... Has any healing occurred in the community thanks to Hivewire/Dawn? Yes and no... Hivewire has clearly spelled out that they are program agnostic and try to have versions for both programs in their store. People, for the most part, have tried to get along in the forums and until recently there has been no forum moderation at all-- forumites were well behaved. Sadly, a few trolls and hackers recently have slammed their cudgels disrupting a perfect record.
The real problem with the division is that DAZ and Smith-Micro have competing products. For those arguing that Smith-Micro isn't reaching out, remember that Poser is how Smith-Micro makes its money, not on content. DAZ Studio is a threat to Poser and not vice versa. I don’t think there’s any easy solution to this, other than one of the two programs disappearing. I would suggest the solution to the bridging the divide is not focusing on the way it was created but on the art that was produced. It’s a similar issue with the Maya/Max/etc universe Vs. the DAZ/Poser universe or even traditional art Vs. digital art. It doesn’t whether you used the most expensive oils or canyons-- it’s the end result,... the art that counts.

Thanks for pointing out my polynesian female clothing and my move to a new vendor.
The female Gen4 clothing will work with all Gen4 characters (V4, A4, S4) and also has morph support with Gen4 Creature creator-- the same is true with the male Gen4 polynesian clothing (M4, H4, Freak4)
I have other polynesian items; outriggers, weapon, male clothing, plants and birds available separately or as a bundle too.
