if you are looking for a place to discuss poser and making your renders better, you already found it. the forums here and at rdna are the best place hands down. I've never encountered a chat room that stays on topic with a focus as narrow as something like poser renders.

I have never even looked at the poser manual - everything you need to know is in these fourms or the people her can answer it - try search it works great and expand the dates - some of the stuff that will really help is pretty old.

dumb question, what parameters should I change to adjust the color ?

Perfect thread for me to chime in on - as one of the mysterious ones.. I'm not quite sure how I got started with poser, awhile back I ran across DA and saw some amazing artwork created with poser, I didn't end up buying it until about a year later. I'm the type when I get new software I want to know 'everything' about it, so I bought a handful of stuff from DAZ and started playing. After a few months and I couldn't get a render that looked better than something my 4 year old drew I was about to give up - then I happened on rendo.. I bought stuff, and lurked in the forum for months - no gallery, no posts, just soaking it up. It was at least 6 months before I had an image I felt was good enough to post.
Anyway, I think I'm starting to understand poser, realized I'll never know everything, and continue to follow the forum ( I may be more addicted to learning from the forums that actually using poser ) . So - us mysterious ones are out here, sooner or later we'll come out from behind the curtain.

Thanks hborre & IsaoShi, I think I'm going to have to grab it as well.. the interface looks great and all the settings in one place will just be way too cool.

Benboom, let me give you a quick bit of advice from a reasonably new poser user - find everything you can in these forums that Bagginsbill has posted - my poser bookmarks folder is full of links to his stuff from these forums. I started out, like I do with most new software reading the books and experimenting, I wasted a ton of time ! days spent reading thru the forums ( especially BB's stuff ) is like months of trial and error.

I won't even pretend to undersatnd poser lighting, but, assuming you're using the auto settings in Poser 8 for Firefly the really low setting don't cast shadows or use ray trace - so when you crank it up you are completely changing the way light is rendered. For poser 8 preview renders I never go below the half way point on the slider - this will keep cast shadows and ray trace turned on.

Thanks for the comments. The hair is the main reason I added the dof in PS, the straight render looked good but the hair took it down a notch - had to blur some of it out.

JWFokker, yes its Milan, its the only really good texture I have, as I'm finding out good textures are hard to come by. Any other good textures out there you guys recommend ? I'm searching thru promos, but the quality of most promo renders is not that great so its hard to tell how good the textures really are, any suggestions would be appreciated.
