@SparrowNightmare: In french we say "coup de grâce", not easy to tell that in english "final shot"? "killer shot"? So, thank you so much for this answer. Friendly, locuSolus.

Hello mark. I like answers like that: unnecessary to print the post. I'll try immediately, unless I don't need de fire strength of mhscspo, I just re-modelized a candel. Thanks, can't wait for you C6 tut announced by your post-footer. sincerely, LocusSolus.
Thread: No product support for DAZ|Studio | Forum: DAZ|Studio
sorry for my bad english. Some vendors DO know that their product(s) work(s) with D|S, but tell "not supported" or "not tested" to stay safe from beeing submerged by basic requests from beginners unaccurate with installation processes. I guess many vendors made the test, but some rare vendors 1) turned the flag of DS compatibilty to the ON position, 2) took a fly to Bahamas beaches for at least 3 weeks, 3) Came back to visit in the psychiatric hospital their secretary (not to say to burry her). The problems come not from 2 years long D|S experimented users as people who posts here, but from several try-once-for-free-and-forget tourists. I think 90% of that phenomenon could be avoided by selling D|S, may just for one dollar, but not free. Hope what I say is not delirious. Very interesting post. Friendly, LocuSolus. (received V4.2 this morning in my DAZ download reset).

@Vincebagna: ça yest! je me suis inscrit. Passionnant. Merci pour tout, à bientôt.
@Miss Nancy: Thanks a lot for this cursive and luminous definition. In four days of hard work reading forums and tutorials, it's the first time I see so a comprehensive explanation. I feel the temptation to compare ambiant occlusion with the old french hand-kiss where the knight's lips must reach the lady's silky glove the closest as possible, but without touching it physically.
So, I kiss your hand, My Lady.

@Vincebagna: Thanks for GI. In fact Global Illumination is sometimes translated in french by "éclairage indirect" (indirect lightning) , which is inapropriate, but explains my error.

@Akkbour: Thanks a lot Akhbour! I won't miss to come with questions unsolvable by my own means. I took the Daz artists guild's URL from the ShotgunOd's post just above, where you seem log your works, I'll not fail to watch your show room at my next visit there. Freindly, LocusSolus.

I did the same think last year with a young boy, who came to Counter Strike, and my old machine was so slow that the poor kid was killed by the lags before having time to begin to play. So, to save the threaten family honour, I let him to play on the new machine and, day after day, I have been finaly relagated to check my mails in the children's room!

"There is a french language site for Carrara called polyloops with some helpful tutorials."
Vincebagnasiad:
I definitely advice you to check Polyloop. There are plenty of tuts and the french forums really are helpful.
--> Thanks for the link, Gentlemen, I just opened an account there. Its a big surprise for me to read a 3D forum in my native language, but It won't lead me to be unfaithfull to Renderosity!

Thanks to all, I won't stay without giving knews of my first steps in C6.

Thanks a LOT, ShotgunOd, you got the target of my worries at its center. I'll do exactly what you said. I have bought yet LightDome LE, Studio Light LE and Mood Master, which I use now every time, and shall add immediately all the others in my Daz collecting cart. Answers like this are extremely precious for beginners, saving lot of time lossed in straying in dead end way, and saving lot of money wasted in unusefull or inadapted products.
I got no time this morning to visit your gallery, but I'll come back this evening.
Good place, here.

Thread: Hierarchy of files for a DAZ Dummy | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I'm not sure this can be helpfull, just my personal choices for for time less loss. (I like "less loss" assonance in your language).
First I consider that in restaurant you don't lay the table for the entry, the main dish, and the dessert at the same time, but you desserve and re-lay the table between each turn of service. and so do I for my runtime directories. Presently I'm working on a Jurassic scene, and You can read in my home page the list of what I installed for, and there is no other thing installed else what I need, all what I need, only what I need for this scene. After applauses, let the play-ground of the theater will be cleaned of decorums, costumes, actors etc...
Why? Because I noticed that runing DAZ-installers of 5, 15, 30 items takes only few minutes within a 30 hours of hard work on your scenes. so hundreds of figures, poses, morphs, textures, of you previous fairy tale lovely scene for a young people magazine, will brake and bother you on your present new scene of Lancelot fighting the dragon under a crimson sky near the haunted castle.
By the way, I previously uninstalled all items after final, realy final, DEFINITIVE final render. But now, I no longer do that, because It is again time loosing. I just delete (DELETE, not EMPTY!) the Runtime directory and all others in the "MyCurrentProject" dir.
Worse, I added recently a touch of satanism in this way, by using a disk partition dedicated to the project, to avoid spending 350 times one full minute with developping
c:program filesdazDaZ studiocontentRuntimeLibrairiesDazpeopleAnimalsmilDragonposes
(from memory).
So, I've a small 5Giga bytes partition on my Hard drive named let's say H: which contains my previous work with 2500 files.
So, let's summarize:
Disk partition is an option. A good option, but an option. you can also use an external drive, memory mini-card or a usb key, it does absolutely NOT affect the rendering or loading time.
Since I do that, I'm living on a flying carpet. But what is the price of a flying carpet?
There is one: as I install DAZ's items each time I begin a new project, I am obliged to be extremely rigourous in the management of my intallers. As I downloaded quite all free DAZ, (200 items) a lot of platinum oldies (a treasure! some jewels could be found among a lot of old towels), and each week one or two more freebies, I cant feel authorized to be laxist not imprecised in the organisation of my installers files. so I invested some hours to build a clear, steady, explicit, and knowledge-full tree for my installers files. All buildings together, interior subdir, exterior subdir, all animals together, flying subdir, aquatic subdir, domestic subdir, jurassic etc...EACH product ALONE in a separate directory, meaningfull named and containing: - The ".EXE" file
I must admit that costed me efforts, but now, when I download an item from DAZ or from everywhere, I always save the product page ("Save as" in IE with MHT option. NO off line reading), I always save the 3-4 most significant pictures, and then download the EXE file, save all in a comprehensive place in my collected items Directory. Doing that I never need more than 1 minute to find what I need.
Bye-bye, the hell!
Friendly, Locus Solus.
ps1: Never try to partition your hardrive, even using quaterdeck's "Partition Magic" if you are not easy with that manip.
ps2: Are you free for Valentine's? Alalaaa...those french guys, they have not changed!
That's all folks

Thanks RHaseltine, Effectively! I tested and got many different lightnings with "matte", "plastic" and mainly "skin" model which is very bright. I think 90% of good renders come from the artist's skillfulness, and 10% only from the software features.

Sorry I don't know how to put the image DOWN to the text, so I use a fake reply to continue.
Specially have a look at the light on the Nanette (it's her name) shoulders. Night and Day. Cloudy and sunny. Dull and brilliant, Sad and happy. just go to the market page, and type "Nanette" in the search engine to get the full size pic, and you will be convinced.
So, what about or poor D|S? Waste basket? Personnaly I'd prefered to spend (If I have had) $249 with nice stuff rather buying P7. After having notice that the $249 price of Poser7 in Europe is... 249€ (not $!), after having lurked all around the Daz forum about this subject without finding the most little topic of worrying, after wondering that, even here, (a class upper forum regarding the level of consideations) there was not really a lot of warning, I was about to decide the killing of sweet models from Santa's gift, and to buy Poser7. What a pitty! But, but...
but just I remembered a good old Software I got last year for $35 in a DAZ-promo bundle, CARRARA5, a software I never used, but which I upgraded for free to Carrara6 in my downloads room at DAZ, just because I like what is free.
And innocently, I opened the momified box, installed, registered, and loaded the software, and opened the "materials" room. In less than ten minutes I had got the answers to my questions:
Oooohhh! Here are they, my inescapable skin-shaders nodes. Why not build my figures (not full scenes, figures only, separatly rendered) in D|S as usual, and make final render into Carrara6 with these enhanced, rocky, killer, killer functionalities of the C6 engine?
So here is my question: Is it reasonable for me to spend time with learning the use of C6 to work around the terrific Lack-late-lag of D|S, or should I immediately renounce to a lot of my purchases for the price of Poser6?
Thanks for Your answers. I post this on booth Rsity's Carrara Forum and Rsity's Daz|studio forum simultaneously.
Good place here. Friendly, LocusSolus.
