Hello everyone. My opinion on the Blender interface is that it is very powerful, thus it has a very steep learning curve. I try and retry that flexible GUI. I hope to eventually get a handle on the GUI. Video tutorials... hummm.

Thread: Long LONG render - help? | Forum: Bryce
When the render times are too long... 1) Look for objects which can have the anti-aliasing turned off. Select said object, click in the 'A' box, hold down Shift & Control keys and then click on the checkmark. The fewer objects to be anti-aliased, the less time for the render. 2) In the render options, use Superfine or Premium and reduce the 'rays per pixel' count to 9 (if color accuracy is not critical) and the 'maximum ray depth' to 3 (if you do not have a lot of reflections in the scene as this setting affects reflections) 3) Stuff listed above 8-)

Spacecraft Lighting? Perhaps some lights like on Star Trek (first Movie where Enterprise is pulling out of Space Dock) -- kind of like a self-lit billboard 8-)

Thread: Render Times? | Forum: Bryce
21 hours; 7 minutes; 47 seconds Estimated rendering time
27 minutes; 31 seconds Actual rendering time
Fair enough?
The numbers will converge as the rendering is completed.

Thread: Suggestions for learning Blender? | Forum: Blender
I have tried several interfaces, Bryce, Amapi, World Builder, Terragen, Wings, Blender, etc. After an adjustment to the flavor of the interface, I have found the Wings 3D to be the easiest followed closely by Bryce. My 2 cents worth of opinion! While Blender's interface is a toolbox approach to modeling, it requires too much memorization. It is not "intuitively obvious". What does it take to be "intuitively obvious"? Not use the program for over a year and to be able to jump into the program like you never stopped using it.

What separates an ordinary Bryce image from an extraordinary one?
Detail!
One normally sees a hanger or two (in the background) where mechanics would work on the planes. What about an air control tower? Ground is too flat for sand, try changing to asphalt/ runway (with markings). Lastly, you may want to watch "Top Gun" and look at the airstrip /airbase scenes for those details like a fueling point near the aircraft, etc.
BTW, Good image!

TIR, or Total Internal Reflection, adds more realism by simulating the reflective properties of water on the underside of the surface. Caustics are the lighting effects on the bottom of the underseas caused by the movement of waves on the surface. Since the waves are distorations of a refracting/reflecting media, they cause light patterns on the bottom.,

What can I say except the members of this honorable forum have great imaginations. bandolin and pauljs75 have it right.. fuselage frame piece. I am attempting to build the aircraft from the inside out using wings 3d.

Are the lighter areas at the bottom part of the material or are they caustics? Did you turn on the TIR option before rendering? Just some thoughts...

xenic101 - Great Chairs, those viewers who got side tracked by the Poser Model, get those blinders off and see the bigger picture. Heck, an ORC could have been posed instead... Obviously, xenic101 just happened to use whatever model was handy.
