Yeah, I really want them to be rounded. It is indeed whats proving to be a challenge. I did try boosting the surface fidelity more, but alas, to no avail. When I start using words like alas and avail, maybe its time to take abreak. :o) Thanks for your help though. Max

Thanks kix, I gave that a try but it did strange(almost arcane)things to my model. I wouldnt mind the facets so much except that I need to line up some other pieces to this one and the facets are going to make it difficult. If you have any suggestions on how to make something like this without resorting to a boolean operation..feel free. :o) Cheers, Max

Hi folks, I ran the updater and it appears to have fixed my problem. Thanks. Actually I had updated Carrara awhile ago when I was still running in 9.2 but then I kept crashing so i reinstalled my original Carrara2.0. But in Jaguar eveything appears to be running smoothly. Thanks for the tip. Cheers, Max

Thread: Carrara, Scratch discs, and ram , oh my! | Forum: Carrara
I just recently installed extra ram and allocated 500 megs to carrara. It appears to make a very noticable speed difference in everything except rendering which Im assuming is perhaps because rendering is more cpu dependant, whereas the other operations (modeling and what not) are more ram dependant. I havent tried installing OS X yet. Cheers, Max

I have a related question about Carrara performance. Right now I have 384 megs of ram on my laptop. I think Ive allocated about 200 to Carrara. My hard drive probably has no more than a gig of spcae left on it. 1) does Carrara work a little like photoshop in terms of using a scratch disk? i.e. do I need plenty of free space in order for things to go as smooth as possible? Would i see an increase in generel performance if I had more disk space? 2) Would it really make a difference if I bought more ram? Right now I have a 128 and 256 in my pismo and was thinking of swapping the 128 for a 512. Im going to be using my laptop more in the coming months and since I cant afford to just buy a tower I was wondering if it would be worth while to make the above mentioned upgrades. Thanks for the advice everyone, I appreciate it. Cheers, Max

Thanks Mark. Im also impressed by the possibility of exporting to illustrator. So It actually works well then? No bug issues? Max
