on a side note......since poser is still using inj/rem tech, does anyone know how many free channels there will be in this figure for making morphs?...I know one major problem with v4/m4 is that they filled up quick, and you ended up with weird things happening when various morphs shared the same channel. Plus when you loaded them, it caused alot of bloat on the resources.

Do you really believe there will be enough poser vendors to do that and make it succeed? The stores (here included) are getting more and more genesis and ds conent, as many content makers are converting. That is how they are surviving. They cannot wait for poser to get its act together......they tried hard for many years, it just hasn't happened....or we would have seen much greater success for figures like Dawn.

Think you nailed it Zev......In order for a figure to succeed it need to be supported by content makers and customers. The way to get content makers to support it is to make it have a wide range of customers. Not just the ones who decided to spend all that money to upgrade poser. If there is still so much talk about poser users using V4...it doesnt sound like there are many who really are into upgrading anyway. So the customer base wont be very high....which is not appealing to product makers. It is a shame...because it could be a really good figure, and it would still suffer the same fate.

If only there was a more realistic shaggy Satyr figure out. hint hint Minotaurs can only hold the battle front for not much longer without reinforcements.
It is on the schedule.....but got pushed back a little

The rock and hard place decision is that people seem to be shouting "We want new technology" and that is bombarded by the shouts "We want to keep using our legacy content".
Those two mindsets do not really work together.
At some point, if people really want software to grow, they will have to accept that the legacy content will not work so well anymore. It is time to move on. If people are happy with the quality they get out of 6yr old v4 products, then fine, there really is no need for them to upgrade their software. But the people who WANT higher quality from their artwork, should not be held back by those who dont.
If the old products work fine for you..then great, the current versions of poser will still keep running and you do not have to upgrade.

...and if you shake your etch-a-sketch hard enough you wont see the picture anymore either.
Seriously...there are many ways to imagine a thing not working, that is no big skill. But must all software be dumbed down to the lowest denominator?..that is the kind of thinking that holds poser back, and keeps people who want to use poser from having nice toys to play with.
Your line of thought makes no sense, and is doing no good for furthering poser's growth
Thread: Poser 11 Sneak Peek | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is what I am sick and tired of in these forums.
Yes, I sell at DAZ, but I have made poser content for 15 years and contributed alot to this community. I have no bias to either program. It was only until recently where I personally found there to be too much division between the capacities of the 2 programs that I decided to not continue poser support.
It is not for any dislike of poser, just a simple matter of wanting to create products of a specific quality that I am no longer able to do with poser because of its slow growth over the last several years. So when a thread comes up where some serious discussion can be had as to how to help poser grow, you can bet I will post my comments. I would love it if poser would grow into something that is up to par with the rest of the community again.
Right now the market for poser products is basically dead. The revenue I might have lost by discontinuing my support of poser is not even noticed, because there are so many new people coming in and using the new software that can handle all the really cool products. BUT that does not mean I don't care about poser, I just care about my time and where I choose to invest it.
But I rarely post in these forums anymore because there are those who try to discredit any input I can provide because I sell at DAZ. Ya know what?...without daz poser would have been dead a long time ago. I am proud of all my work, and the products I put into this market. I think people who actually contribute to this community and work daily with these programs for many many years have more than earned their right to provide input....moreso than people who just enjoy shouting their mouth off and driving people away from these forums. It is sad to see rosity die like it has been since these people have started to run people off.
I remember a time where threads here would not stay on page one longer than a day because this place was so active with productive comments, and people didnt have to be afraid of these forum brats trying to shut everything down.
I do like the idea of cycles, it is a needed improvement.but there is more I want to see...and not sure how I can let them know unless I say it. It is not whining, it is simple statement of what is needed...in my case, quality figures and tools to work with them.

BTW....how well will the materials for this PBR transfer to IRAY?...and how will IRAY materials transfer to this one?
Thread: Poser 11 Sneak Peek | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I like the idea of a PBR render engine. I am finally getting the hang of the IRAY one and digging the results. So that is one step in the right direction for poser catch up with this decade.
But rendering was not my big issue with poser, so does not really go a long way to bring me back.
My poser support slowed to a stop this year because there was no way I could dumb-down my characters to work in poser and still have the quality that I expected from them. The ability to use genesis figures natively in poser would be a key factor, the ability to effectively handle High Definition morphs. The ability to auto-fit clothes to any body shape. Also what would help create more products would be better tools for product development. Making anything for poser still feels like you are hacking code to get things to work, even after the 15 years I have been using it. You would think by now there would be some proper tools to make that aspect of content creation much easier.

I did make a simple fog camera for IRAY if that helps

Malemedia, Zev, Rawart, and Razor42/DesignAnvil (if you're lurking here) will you be dropping support for 3Delight?Â
Nope...3DL is still a render engine in DS, so it will continue to be supported. There would be no sense in dropping that support.
Unfortunatly some of the effects may be dumbed down a little bit to work in 3dl...but no where near as much as they had to be when I made poser MATs.

Before HD came out I made alot of characters with alot of detail using displacement maps.
I still use displacement maps to ad specific kinds of details.
Not having any specific tool should not be a reason to limit ones creativity.
Thread: Genesis 3 released | Forum: DAZ|Studio
It is hard sometimes to keep up with the new figures...for my creatures Genesis 1 was the best figure since it could more easily become male of female.
But that said, I really dig that DAZ is on the ball and trying to keep up with the new technologies to make sure our market has the best possible figures by industry standards.
As for things being compatible...we have to remember that this figure is used in d/s, and it is not like in the old days of poser where there were so many problems trying to get items for one figure to fit on another figure. The auto-fit in d/s makes it so that so much of the old catalog still works decently on a new figure. I am sure no one would expect things to work 100% perfect on the new figure, but the fact they work decently at all is an amazing thing.
Say what people want about daz and d/s, they are definitley dedicated to make sure we the customer have the tools we need to not only be stuck with hobby level products, if we work with it, we can build to industry standard levels. So DAZ deserves alot of credit for that.
Plus....this figure works so nice, and is the best looking figure right out of the box that has ever been made.

Thread: Asking for honest comments for my character | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No offense meant, but to me your promos look like most every other ones in the rosity library.
Girls standing in a boring pose looking at a camera. (with alot of text and boring background)
Compare that to a few of these at daz (just did a quick glance through he store..so they are not necessarily even the best examples)

They all have a readily identifiable character, but in an interesting shot that catches your eye and imagination. Through costume, and background scenery, through creative lighting and adding expressions tot he character that give them life and personality. These are the things that sell a a character more than a screen full of text on the image.
