you can upgrade any version of Bryce 4.0 to 4.1 because I have a metacreations version adn the upgrade worked just fine for me

what is metatools? what can it do and the such?

get a picture off the net of hay, then apply it over an exsisting texture and adjust the bump height and the scale to you needs. if its the center piece or focus of the picture you may have to model it, that could take a while but the randomize function on bryce helps these things

another trick is to build models in sections rather then all at once and also don't do textures until the model is complete, use basic whites greys and blacks, make sure to group items together and label them so its easier to texture later

his spacecraft model design video is actually for Lightwave, but listening to him and the concepts he uses for model design really helped me. There are a series of videos put out by Desktop Images, I also have his spacecraft surfacing techniques and I have one on pyrotechniques as well, they are all for the lightwave software but like I said I found the ideas and concepts very useful. I found them at a flea market, but am trying to track down more, if I find a place where I can get them from or if anyone out there knows of a good place please tell me. Thanks = )

sorry if I jumped a gun, but it would seem to me that anyone that does not have the printed manual most likely has a pirate version of the program, and quite honestly it makes me upset when people use pirated software, I pay a lot of money for the programs I own, and software prices are quite high due to the level of piracy out there. Again sorry if I jumped a gun but a better explaination as to why you did not have the printed manual lebedevpv would have granted a friendlier response

on your bryce 4 cd, or with the box u bought it in..whats that you never bought it you pirated it off a friend/internet/other well to bad, I could easily send you the acrobat file off of my CDROM of my PAID FOR version of Bryce. I paid $400.00 for the program, so should you

ouch, no Idea dude, could be you are running a memory hog program as well as bryce or the thing you are rendering is sucking up what memory you have. Maybe if u can break the picture up into multiple renders and then throw it together in photoshop. for example render the background seperate from the foreground, if u render the foreground render it against a green or blue screen, then bring the 2 pictures together in Photoshop. I have not left Renderosity just yet, If I find a forum with as many people and with the ability to show my work then yeah I'll leave, but for now I'll stay around and see what the fallout looks like. sometimes I think that bryce has crashed, I even bring up the ctrl/alt/del box and it says Bryce is not responding, but behold if I leave bryce alone it is still working! I just finished making a picture with a volumetric world setting and wow! it took 24hours to render, half of that was antialasing.
