Laurie, the only displacement maps I have for anything Genesis came in skin texture sets or for clothing. When I load a blank Genesis into Studio, it comes in with no textures of any kind and I usually don't even use skin displacement maps unless I need heavy veins or that kind of thing.

Thread: Is the Genesis cr2 exporter from the Daz newsletter new? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As far as I can tell, it's a tutorial by Cliff Bowman with some new python scripts on how to get Genesis working in Poser as a CR2.

Quote - Well, you must admit a post like that won't garner too much help when Zanzo could have just asked "How do I keep my textures from blowing out and looking like wax when I use SSS? There would have been folks lining up to help ;).
Laurie
True, I just understand what he's thinking because I've been there. ;)

I have to be honest, I felt pretty much the same way about SSS that Zanzo does for a really long time. It seemed to blow out every texture it was applied to no matter how I adjusted it, and when it did work, it resulted in very realistic candle wax skin.
I can't give any advice about how to adjust it in Poser since I use Studio, but SSS will definitely take adjusting and experimentation to get it to look the way you want. I use a low value (20%) and darker colors to add just a little.
Zanzo sounded like he was being sarcastic...I really don't see this as trolling.

"Let's put it in another situation."
Can we put it another way?
You walk into a local store that you've been frequenting off and on for years.
A guy is hanging out at the counter complaining about the other local store where you and your friends work and shop.
He and his friends do nothing but badmouth the store, their service, and their products. They even go to other stores to continue their badmouthing.
You risk being jumped by the guy and his unruly friends if you try to speak up for the store.
The guy and his friends take great delight in every problem, big or small, that your favorite store encounters.
Every time you come back to the store, the guy and his friends are there.
Would you keep shopping there?

UPDATE
All of the seam guides are now available again and you won't have to go to their product page at DAZ to find them (they're not working on DAZ's site at the moment anyway). Thanks for your patience.
Also added a new free item, the INJ/REM MOR I use for the character in most of my images (the black fantasy woman with the afro, "Smacky").
Thanks,
SnowS

Richardson: Wow, that is a very complex image! I don't remember what I might have told you about rendering in layers, but yes, for something with that many figures, I would definitely combine multiple renders and use Photoshop's visibility masks (or something similar) to put the whole thing together. Glad I could help.
Thanks for stopping by my site Monkeycloud, although any new updates and images will be on my dA page long before that one. That's mainly just a storage place. ;)
Hborre, glad the guides help. :) I hope the community can still find my things useful regardless of where they're located.

"I've gotten tons and tons of use out of your battle pose sets as well !!"
Thanks, glad to hear that! Thanks to everyone else too for the continuing nice words.
Hornet, I'm not completely going away, I'll still take a look at the galleries and browse the forums once in a while. It's just that if I do make anything new, it will be on my other pages (like my fantasy character MOR or any tutorials).
"and more importantly the precentage of those that abuse the forum and remain will grow accordingly."
Indeed, I thought trying to defend what I believed and correct misconceptions was the right thing to do. Now I know I'm "in their house", so I won't bother.
Much appreciated, thanks again!

Thanks to everyone so far, I appreciate the nice words and am glad my seam guides have been useful!
"I think you will be missed here more than you know. ;-( "
Considering what I've seen over the past year and this last weekend especially, I doubt it, but thank you very much. :) I'll still look at the galleries and stuff here, and you can always contact me at my other sites if you need anything.

It's probably not open for discussion over there because you're receiving the correct answer and not believing it - DAZ installers legally downloaded from their website do not contain viruses.

"How long are we supposed to wait Snowsultan? "
You and I and everyone else are going to have to wait until it's done, like it or not. There are other places to discuss 3D (here, as people are doing) and other places to shop in the meantime. I agree that DAZ should not have sent out those newsletters that make it sound like their site is ready, but it obviously isn't and we just need to wait it out.
"There's someone from DAZ who's reading while I'm typing!"
Coldrake and I are not officially 'from DAZ', we're just users who occassionally try to reason with people over here. ;) I don't know about Coldrake, but I know no more about what is going on at DAZ at the moment than any of you.

Thread: What happened to Daz Studio 4.5 ? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Richard, you happen to know if shaders like pwSurface2 and the Visual Style ones will still work OK? (edit, just noticed you said shaders do work, duh, but can you confirm it? thx)
One feature that's mentioned a little in the locked forums is that Auto-fit apparently does retain some of the morphs from Gen 4 clothing when fit to Genesis now. If that's true, and if it works well, that's a big new feature.

No problem, sorry it looked that way. :) I'd be mad too if I suddenly had to pay taxes on 3D content...California does need the tax revenue badly and it's not any business' fault, but that's never any fun. :(

Might I suggest everyone wait until the store and site are finished before shopping or ranting about it endlessly like a certain troll?
True, DAZ said it would be finished before now, and I want it to be fixed as much as the rest of you. But never mind what the newsletters or any of last week's annoucements said, it's obviously not finished.
Why not do something else until it is finished? Try what I'm doing: check in every couple hours, see that it's not ready yet, say "aww" to yourself, and move on.
