Oh I haven't had a chance to test it yet but here:
Someone has found a way to 'hack' past this error and get geografting to work.
The method is to load the genital prop twice: A and B.
Fit A to Genesis, but fit B to A. Then hide A. B will, they claim, render properly.
I need to get an idea for a project with a nude figure and try this out... :D
(or just mess around and try it).

Thread: DAZ carrara forum | Forum: Carrara
Quote - http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/44601/P15
That is an issue with the way carrara reads ivygen's leaves. Quite a few people have found Ivygen doesn't work with carrara any more. Some change DAZ did borked it.
The only fix it to reUVmap every leaf.
Note: worked/s fine in C7.
Thank you for that comment. Yeah you'll note by the end of that thread I just deleted the ivy's from my scene. The Ivy was from a non-carrara prop, not make in Carrara. Googling Ivygen I see it is a plugin for Blender, is that correct?
Carrara Pro 8.5 was $65 for me this month, so I jumped in instead of budgeting in Vue or rebooting my machine everytime I wanted to use Bryce (I'm on a Mac, and Bryce no longer works in Mac, so I have it on a windows partition).
Becuase I've used both Carrara 1 and 5 before - I'm familiar enough with it that the UI wasn't as off-putting for me as for some people, and I've seen some of the quirky issues before. Now I just get to play with new quirky issues...

Thread: Why do conforming cloths rule ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - **IMHO Conforming cloth is still the most often made clothing becasue DAZ couldn't use dynamics till reciently without extra cost and hardship in varity.**Poser users have been tied at the hip with DAZ until reciently. That is one of the reasons everyone wants/wanted Genesis to run in Poser. Dynamic cloth is actually quite easy to use once you understand a few simple things.
I've noticed that there is a heck of a lot of dynamic clothing appearing at DAZ for use in Studio.
I animate. Dynamics produce great results and conforming not so much.
That is also why DAZ is making dynamics easier for Studio users.
You would think this a no brainer for merchants.
I make a lot of simple cloth for my usage. All of it dynamic. It can be refit for any figure in a few seconds and always flows correctly.
Can Daz3D use the same dynamic cloth items that Poser can?
I've been told that to make dynamic cloth that can be used in Daz3D you need a $10,000 application called Optitex?
I've not used Poser since 2006 (I left 3D altogether, only recently got back, and it was cheaper to upgrade my Daz3D so I have. My Poser upgrade is pending and becomes a choice between it and Vue or Carrara) - but i remember taking a simple flat plain and just clicking a setting somewhere to turn into a piece of dynamic cloth.
Is dynamic cloth made in Poser compatible with the new dynamic system in Daz3D?
Because if not - that is a very big reason to stick with conforming clothing if you're a merchant - so you can sell your stuff to the largest number of users.
If the same item sold as Dynamic Cloth for Poser can also work in Daz3D, and vice versa - then yes I would say a lot more items should be produced as Dynamic cloth because I remember how nice it was. Its a big motivator for me to reconsider getting Poser upgraded at some point if I find myself unable to take things from my Poser 7 back into Daz3D.

Thread: Returning to 3D after a decade - sorting it all out. Some basic Daz3D questions | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Well thanks folks.
I did also post in the Daz forum to get a good spectrum of replies.
I've since bought both the Aiko 6 pro bundle and the new Lee Pro bundle.
I'm planning to start working on learning to use the volume light and such in Daz.
My Vue copy is ancient - 6 infinite. And I'm wondering if I should upgrade it or not but that's a topic for the Vue forum - where I'll have to take stock of my needs before I figure out what to ask there.
I've got some test renders going, but not much more yet.
I'm also noticing a version of the premium club here at renderosity that looks... tempting. But I'm going to jump into that AFTER I know more about what things I'll be needing for where I go with this. :)
(Though that said... I need to identify a good genesis 2 base female model, with a realistic face - soon. But before I can get there I need to mentally outline my initial plans more so I know things like what ethnicity to shoot for... :) )

Thread: Rendo a 3d ghetto? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The real irony is that that magazine gets a regular sales boost from including some random popular female poser figure or clothing item from Daz or a vendor here every few issues and then tries to boost its cred by slapping the hand that feeds it.

Quote - *The primary market for poser and associated content has always been people who like to render beautiful CG people in various stages of undress.
- That's no true at all, the primary market was completely different then what it is now. Poser had a completely different focus when it was first released. The major shift did occur years later and the main figure to blame for this is V3. After V3 was released things started to change and suddenly everyone had to undress the poser figures.
...
The galleries looked quite differently also. When I came here first they were pretty cool and quite decent, the majority of images were very innovative, inspiring and some even stunning. Now it's the same thing over and over again
Your registration date here implies you've been here almost as long as me, and yet you don't remember when renderosity's galleries had explicity sex scenes as a very common feature?
I do.
It was before V1. In the possette days. Renderotica and renderosity used to be the same website, lets not forget that.
The work here today is much cleaner than it used to be, maybe too much so in some regard, censoring out a lot of innocent work as well, but at the same time allowing in a lot of 'trash' if it doesn't trigger certain buttons.
The work today does have a certain recycled look to it, a lot of people post nothing but simple renders of canned content, not even using that canned material in innovative ways...
But that has always been true. What differs now is that there are a few hundred times more people total, and the ones doing something innovative with even the canned models get buried in the pile.

Thread: V4 pose pack - best value and variety for cost? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Found some more partials by kawecki if anyone else is also watching this.
They're a bit more sexual in the lower body though, a lot of splits and bend overs.

Schlabber's are all for V3 though aren't they?
I did find some partials for V4 by PureEnergy and OKCRandy
Looking them over to decide if through them I could build normal looking posing. :)

Thread: Poser and Japan | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
-shrug-
Call me not impressed.
Japanese Poser works have some 'cute' looks, but in terms of technical skill the English speaking community (as in, Renderosity) is vastly better.
They have nothing coming close to someone such as Aery Soul, or a number of others we could list from here, Daz, rDNA, and CP.
All they have is a set of stylized toon looks that are popular. There are a few people that once did some very impressive work with hair, but at this point in time they have been surpassed by again, artists such as Aery Soul and a number of people who sell on Daz. And this side of the Poser world has even caught up on the stylized toon looks with figures like Aiko and Terai Yuki - figures which are based around superior technical models as well. Here is where I am not sure if TY was made by the Japanese community and sold to CP or not... but even if it was, it is not as technically advanced as Aiko.
And V4 / G2 both have potential to turn out a new generation of stylized toon looks that will be even better in the underlying technical arena.
I can look at the Japanese stuff and like the look of some of their works, but that does not mean I'm going to make the mistake of assuming they have greater technical skill or artistic vision.
There is a lot of garbage in both communities, and there is a small amount of really great art over there, but a larger pool of 'small amount' here. Over there, the best of their artists are doing the same style as the worst, only doing it better. Here, the best are all doing varied styles from each other and the main community.
Also, having lived in Asia for a decade, the 'Japanese style' is not exactly Japanese - it resembles styles found in a number of other Asian countries as well.

Thread: Ok, where can I find a simple miniskirt and blouse for V4 and Sydney? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Look for svdl's freestuff here, there is a lot of dynamic clothing for older figures. Same for 'mapps' I think. Because it is dynamic, it will fit almost any figure.
For a Sydney example, see the second most recent image in my gallery, which has nudity in it, but is also a skirt that comes from SVDL and was made for S3, but placed on Sydney with ease.
Poserworld.com also now has a V4 regular clothes set. It might be dynamic - I haven't downloaded it yet.

Thread: Another Poser piece getting the 'Elfwood pic of the day' run - my turn this time | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It seems to be going fairly kind on me.
I did have two people who felt the need to point out that they didn't like Poser art, but they were otherwise positive.
It may have helped that as soon as I found out I was selected, I posted a few more details about my process in a reply - that seems to have helped preemptively deflect some of the things that happen at times on Elfwood.

There are notable memory differences between a video game and Poser - so it shouldn't surprise if Poser hits on bits of Ram the game is never pulling at.

Thread: V4 vs Sydney Challenge | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I can't see how the V4 images have more in common with each other than the Sydney ones. Certainly mine don't.
Well they've all got similar facial structure and ethnic features, and eyes don't vary much in them either... And you know those white people, they all look the same anyway. :)
Going on the basis of the work in this thread.
The thread doesn't do Sydney justice either - as most of the Sydneys in here look to be unmorphed. Mine have some morphing, to make her look Asian rather than Caucasian. The others seem to be the default face or closer to than even my limited shifts.
Kalypso's first image of Sydney though - that pretty much still wins the thread for versatility in a model's face.
As for available morph packs for Sydney - I will semi-agree. I am very annoyed that none of the available packs have seen it as important to show many preview images of the potential face morphs. The best previewing is Netherwork's pack, and all it does is show six faces. I want to see something on the level of the kind of preview images Capces does for her Mil3 packs.
-That said, until you buy the packs, you can't fairly state what is in them, because the sellers are hiding the details from us. However due to that I have so far refused to buy them... My morphs so far have been in the face room and morph brush.

Thread: Has anyone tried the Upgraded Wardrobe Wizard in P7? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Different outfits will have different levels of success.
I tried a pirate outfit for Aiko onto Vicky 4 and the crotch was a chaotic mess - it looked like a single polygon was forming the entire crotch seam - so bad that it wasn't worth fixing, althoutgh the jacket came in well enough. But I did 'Black Lotus' from Aery Soul and got good results for everything but the boots, enough so that I kept the results in my gallery.
But it will vary by outfit and by figure. I suggest trying to convert an outfit that you converted in poser 6, again in poser 7. Get rid of you 'analysis' file from the Poser 6 conversion first - so that the entire process has to start over (back it up rather than delete it). You should see identical end results if the outfit and figures are the same.
