not sure what c4d has, but i do like the render facility there, but it does not render any faster then firefly really on our macs, unless i put up a render farm in c4d, then it gets a little faster. i have yet to read anything good about poser pro vs. 7 (which I think they finally got right after v5 and 6) so I guess I will stay put there. like i said, it's all working okay kinda...i think what's causing a few problems is all the mac os upgrades, but not sure...cheers!

thx croc. i think i'll stay put then. if they changed the runtime stuff then interposer will no doubt break or require an upgrade too. i render in C4D; not sure if that's any better:)Â

hate to but in, but I am a poser 7 user. what is the big + if thinking of upgrading to poser pro? I am just a casual user creating characters then using C4D for placement in scenes...ie, interposer. It's all working now so not sure if I want to mess things up...thx for the advice!!!

Hi i just tried Talk Designer last week and well, it works, but not very realistic. Is there a way to use papagayo and talk designer together? i guess it would have to spit out a vismeMap.xml or is there a converter from papa output? anyway, timely post as I am preparing to get into this big time with poser 7 on a mac. I remember using mimic on a pc platform and perhaps it was poser 6, and that seemed to work very well...heck, that was years ago now. cheers!

oh, i just saw ur attachment. the file you are looking for is the one called "Poser Prefs" located in the ~/Library/Preferences/Poser 7 directory. Learn something new everyday!

svdl, pretty sure macs don't use the filetype of ini. we have preferences and plists and all the other stuff in that screencap, most of which i don't understand nor want to. i think you are going to have to look inside those files to see what it is you need...or there is surely someone here that knows more about mac then i do...i'm pathetic when it comes to that kinda stuff...

Thread: Backlights in Poser. How? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi cobalt, this is hard to explain...but I create scenes and export the characters independent of the background for further work in Photoshop. I like to work with elements on their own layers, and until Poser supports the export of layers in a PSD file, I don't know of any other way. So my confusion is this: I had already exported the characters lit one way, so now I have to redo that if I change the background lighting, or perhaps it makes no difference, at least not for this still. But I like ur idea about working with one thing at a time and that's what I will experiment with, to see how lights change the character and the background. cheers!

thanks for that. i was just using Linda's Heart of the Jungle scene which came with a light set that did not look so hot, so I used some IBL set that I installed, lagoon or something like that, and it all improved dramatically. But I compose the characters separate from the background, ie. I don't render them on the background, so I am wondering if I have to have all the characters in the scene and re-apply the IBL to them all, then export them all over again. As u can see, I really don't understand poser lighting! the scene url is attached.Thread: Any way to sort all your libraries? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I never install a package directly into a runtime. I unzip or install it into a new folder on my desktop. Then I look through it and inside the library sub folders IE: camera, character, hair, pose, props, I go in and give the folders for that particular package the exact same name.  Doing this will let me see at glance when I open up a sub folder in the library, the files for each package that I have. How? Simple. All I need to do is look in the character folder for a clothing item. Then go to other library folders like Pose and Props and look for a folder that has the exact same name as that one in the character folder.
That's a good plan! I guess that's where 3DPO comes in, cause once unzipped, a potential runtime can be examined in context with all of it's parts. Then I even think there is a way to manage all of that in 3DCPO (automated moving of things around?) but I have not figured out that part of the program yet. What drives me crazy is that seems to be no strict convention followed for poser models, or any that i can figure out:)

There is a nice tool called 3DPO that is a file browser built with Poser in mind. I just got it and I am sorting out my runtime as we speak. It's a really cool tool but for the PC (although it will work on a mac runtime say on a mac/intel box or over a network). Give that a shot! ps. I gave up on multiple runtimes too.

Thanks infinity. I am sure to overcome...but it does seem to be a big problem. If u do a straight copy with a lot of files over a network, and something goes wrong, it seems a mac will just wipe out the entire PC directory. Those two boys don't like to play nice. Cheers!
