'gradient' is right, if you have any slices in the image, save will default to .html - no slices, then .jpg [or .gif if that's what your doing].

Thread: Pano, loss of detail.......... | Forum: Photography
Good looking panorama - doesn't need anything in foreground as it has shore line there, and well composed for it. I don't know the file format .psp is it lossless? I use .tif files for my panoramas as it is a lossless format, even if compressed. Panoramas are big, and the only real way around this is more RAM or less detail from smaller file sizes unfortunately. If you are saving and compressing for web, which means .jpg of course you loose quality as it's a lossey format. Photoshop has a 'save for web' function that many don't realize to use, it gives compression in 1% increments, perhaps something similar lurks in PSP? For print however, keep your ppi to 300 if possible and the largest size you can handle. Also one thing to check with that program is if a scrach disk can be set for images - where it puts the undo's, temp files - and if so move it to a drive that doesn't have PSP .exe on it. This is how Photoshop should be set for speed and large files so.... Cool landscape btw. tim

Thank god! Only had a moment to look thru the tut - but it appears excellent, can't wait to have time to go and really work it. Thanks ever so.
Thread: Vue on MAC or PC? | Forum: Vue
Welllll, very interesting. Somewhat surprised that there is no real data on running vue on both machines like there is for photoshop and other aps. It appears that JavaJones's work is going to greatly help everyone in the future, certainly I look forward to his results. It seems that my best bet is just to have final cut on the MAC and not bother with anything else there; and try to find someone to come out and hook up a network for my PC's (i did the pathatic xp wizard for those two days, my time is more valuable than to waste like that again) and upgrade to that platform. A friend of mine just made the transition from PC editing to final cut - and her advice is that I'll be doing lots of long renders just for final cut, so that pretty well nails it. (We both have the same background: Avid, Premiere, Liquid, Media 100). Thanks y'all, your time is appreciated - cu you in the galleries. dragonfly
Thread: Vue on MAC or PC? | Forum: Vue
Interesting that several people model on the MAC then render on the PC. That's not an option for me, as I use Rhino and there is no MAC version, nor do they intend to write one, and I have to keep my skills current on Rhino. That said, I very rarely have a crash on my PC, especially after I added the extra 2GB of ram, actually no crashes since then - about 5 months now (VUEPRO). BTW I use ATI 9800 and NVidia Quadro4 580 XGL both with 128 Mb RAM (I've two machines), the older one with the ATI has less RAM but almost never has crashed - in both cases openGL is turned off as using it seemed to assure a crash/lockup. I'm not enough of a wirehead to network my machines - tried it and that wasted a weekend, I'd rather make images or have a tooth pulled - so I have to have a single box solution.

Have you tried bringing in figures in small groups from multiple files (.pz3)? I rarely bring in more than three figures in a file, so have never seen this - multiple v3 for instance brought in one at a time have never seen this problem. Conceptually i build scenes in vue, and poser just provides some props/figures, as does rhino etc. I'm sure 'work differently' isn't vary satisfactory....good luck. dragonfly

OH Yeah! One more thing, which I totally forgot about in the heat of the moment. I did not like Jock's image - I thought the message s__ked. BUT IT BELONGS IN THE PUBLIC ARENA - FREE SPEECH MUST BE FOR ALL OR IT IS A SHAM. Now, that was all, da dragonfly
Thread: unfair deleting | Forum: Bryce
On the plus side a least people weren't indifferent to the image....Love it or Hate it they at least responded. So that's the bright-side, as an artist who continues to post here simply because I occasional get comments i can use to grow on, it is very troubling when people like Jock, and VonFranck get images pulled or are banned entirely. Personally I think this is a symptom of an America where intolerance is on the rise, and most are polarized to one point of view or another, and that is very sad to me. To end on a high note, this to shall pass. cu in the galleries Jock!

Thread: A Poser user wonders why do I need Vue? - Rendering | Forum: Vue
I thought this was and interesting questions. In generally, I have a high level of control with VuePro (I lust after the upcoming VuePro 5) and have found it easy to manuver in and get work done. For sheer polygon count this is my biggest: 42mil polys, mostly polygonal terrain gound cover, but 3 meshes of v3 and quite a few props in the "Hiking" image. For body count look at sacada's "100 Victoria Statues". At the other end is "Dr. Frankenwoodies' Monster" which has 9 lights, 7 glows, a low polygon count and rendered in ultra setting in about 5 minutes - quick and painless. I use a 3.06 with 1 gig ram, and a 64Mb nvidia card. Do you need Vue? No, not really. But you'll be addicted if you get it I'd wager. good luck
Thread: Voting on Gallery Uploads | Forum: Community Center
To come back into this - I could look at a lot more images if there was a size limit of 300 Kb say. Still I'd prefer 3 a day total. As to this subtext argument of critiques, I find that after several months when I re-visit an image I know/understand it and know whats wrong/right. Masters/Pro Gallery; just another name for the top 20 unless - caution art term coming - it's juried. Thats what happens to me in the real world, it get juried and excepted or rejected - my friends don't vote. just a couple of thoughts, dragonfly
Thread: P5 Performance Problems - serious slowdowns. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you mean run the same pz3 files in both i don't think so, but haven't tried that yet. Personally P5 is no good at this point for productivity- I'm back to using P4 heavily just because of that. dragonfly

For a wider rangeing discussion of this and other p5 problems check out the p5beta forum - link is at top of this page, and you'll be amazed it works at all. All things will pass, someday P5 will render as fast as my old amiga 2000. For now I'm sticking with Lightwave and Vue, dragonfly
