Quote - I have been buying from Daz3D for a while and have lately been buying from Renderosity, too. Lately I bought an item for use with Daz3D that, for the first time in my experience, came with 3 version codes (V4, Genesis, and TX). I can use the first two, but what is TX all about and is it something that should interest a DS 4.6 person? Thanks.
If this is what I am thinking it is, do you mean the zips were called V4, Genesis, TX? If so, the V4 zip would have the V4 version (I'm assumign this is a character), the Genesis zip would have the Genesis version and the TX zip would have the Textures (as in, the actual textures for the Textures folder which would be shared between the V4 and the Genesis versions). I've seen this setup before quite a few times, and that's what I've found.

In the DIM, once you have downloaded and installed, RIGHT CLICK on the product line (under the "installed" tab) and choose: show installed files.
A little box will pop up showing the exact path everything was installed to. You can also click on one of those paths and it'll open up the folder it is installed in.

ah! i've only just noticed the new [download from S3] link. Was really curious about that.
So I take it if the original file is in two parts, and the S3 link is only ONE, it's still the full product? Non-descriptive filenames don't bug me too much as I rename them before saving in the download, but I was really curious about this S3 thing.

thanks Tina!
I dont' use download accelerator/managers (not even sure I know what they are). :D I just figured that i'd redownloaded that product so many times due to so many different computers over the years. :D

Quote - @jakiblue: Go to your "My Gallery" page and from the "My Gallery" dropdown menu, select "Manage Albums". That's where you create them.
thank you!! :D

how does the "album" feature work? there's an option to "choose an album" when you upload....but how do you create the albums?

i'm seeing black text on white background, plus is that really an option so we can reply to a comment? That is AWESOME! thank you for the changes!
Thread: Is it Normal to Have to Apply Certain MATs made for Poser Manually in DAZ Studio | Forum: DAZ|Studio
ok i finally found a fix to the issue i had where a poser mat pz2 wasn't apply to the outfit piece. I've had this happen to me twice - once on a texture addon for an outfit, and once for a full skin mat for a character.
I hope this shows up properly in the message here - if it doesn't, or if I have confused you, pm me and I can whip up a pdf and email it to you.
Open up the .pz2 file in a text editor - Editpad Lite or Notepad++ are good, I don't use the Notepad that comes with your OS.
At the top, you should see something like this:
{
version
{
number 4.01 }
figure {
material sole
(this is for a pair of shoes, hence the "material sole" - the sole will change depending on what the mat is for)
{
version
{
number 6
}
figure
{
material sole
Note how the formatting was changed - an extra line was added before that } after the number 6.
Save the .pz2 file to the same place as it is (obviously).
That SHOULD make it apply now.
(oh, i change the number 4 to number 6 as I believe the number 4 can cause issues in later issues of Poser....something like that. I don't use poser but that's been ingrained in me so I just do it automatically now, I don't know if it affects DS)
That's just one possible reason why a .pz2 mat may not apply automatically in DS. It's not a fix for every reason - as I don't know ALL the reasons a mat would not apply. :D

Quote - Thanks jakiblue & bbost, I truly appreciate your input here~ I'm still learning myself, so I'm glad it's not just me imagining things grins
@jakiblue~ are you the same jakiblue who provided the tutorial on organizing runtime files? I downloaded that about 2 years ago & have been using the format ever since =)
oh i missed this, sorry! yep that's me. :D You can still use that for DS4, but it WILL bork your metadata if you have MD for a particular product, as the MD is based on where it is in your runtime. So if you use MD, then either don't use the tut OR you can always fix the MD yourself.

try a gen4 pose on genesis in the new DS 4.5 release (if you have it) - no stretching of feet or hands, although you may still have tweak the feet to get htem in position properly.

Quote - One I've noticed in particular that has more of a layered or stacked shader effect is Cloth FX. I'm still trying to find where it came from, but it was a freebie and one you can use to turn a material into either a leather or spandex look.
I think the cloth fx was from this:

I used his for a long time, they are excellent -the chrome one in particular I loved.
