There will also be a limited Full edition called Vue 7 Complete for us 3D artists that has a bit more than Pro Studio but just short of Infinite, and should be about a $200 upgrade over Pro.

YEP! 10 years is an eternity in this business. It will be interesting to see where 3D and Vue go in another decade. I hope Artists will still be around??

I would agree.
If I remember correctly a fellow from England invented the Transputer more than a dozen years ago, but was kept out of the market with law suites as it had 4 cores at the time, and the big Chip makers did not want to hear about it.
Have not seen any tests but would certainly like to know how this machine would process 10 billion polies.

It is all about to be a mute subject. The Gov is about to pass a new Copyright Law that basically says, you are at your own risk unless you Register each and every image with a New Internet Registry Service like Digimac. Big brother wants those fees.

Determine market value, for your work, send them a bill for use of your art work. If they fail to pay, send it to court for collection. Do you have any idea how much a Debit Collector will hound the Hell out of them to get their commission.

On installation of my Vue content, I was not asked to install the content that was on the CD, it installed basics without content. I had to manually install the content later to get it all to work. A reinstall did not work and Vue did not ask if I wanted to install the content. Do not know if that happend to you.

maximumpc is a good location for imput on the AMD against Intel quad cores. Checkout the 02/08 edition, February.
Personally I would wait till mid-year as the Intel X48 DDR3 1666 Mhz screamer will be coming out and knock the x38 1333 off the shelf.

You realy cannot rely on the "estimated" it is based on what the software sees immediatelyor the area it samples, in relation to the size of the image.
That means that if the software samples a small protion of the bottom of the scene and it is very complex only half way up the image with a standard none complex sky it may overestimate. Which would usually indicate a long time and then process in real time much sooner that estimated. This can easily occur the other way around, short estimations and long processing times.
Proceduaral terrains and lighting are often the culprits that extend the processing times.
A better method of spot sampling areas all over the image might give a more accurate time of processing.

Sometimes I can't get the upload to go over 490k either, and when I look the Gallery says it wants to post as 509k. Perhaps it is a conversion or processing of some kind that is added to the image.

This patch is one that is finally working for me. Using the NVidia 169.29 drivers with the 32 bit Vista OS.
