Diogenes (Mike):
Glad that you are recovering. Take your time and take care of yourself. I have Type II DM also, but losing 60 lbs. helped with my blood suger levels. High glucose levels can blurr the vision, and getting that under control can restore visual acuity. And, being diabetic, one must always eat on a regular schedule.
Sorry about your friend. It is hard to lose people we are close to. We are never ready for the loss but tragedy makes the experience even more difficult. :(
Antonia~WM and V4~WM were developed at breakneck speed (faster than the major business could have done it), and we wore out a lot of people. If M4 can be WMed good, if it doesn't happen the sun will continue to rise. You are more important than a virtual figure. :)
Friends,

Welcome back tony9031.
If you think you might want to use Octane Renderer (an external render engine with a plugin for Poser 9 and Poser Pro 2012), you may need more than one video card so get at least 2 PCI-E X16 slots.
There are recent threads here on Renderosity about Octane, and the plugin. It is a pricey option, but further development may make it very irresistable, especially if the developers of Octane itself program in options to make better compatability between the renderer and Poser's lights, cameras, shaders, etc..
I agree, get as many cores as you can, and a hyperthreaded processor. Also 16GB of RAM and a motherboard that will allow 32GB of RAM (if you can).

Thread: Opinions on Custom SSS Shader vs Default EZSkin SSS | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ooops:
I missed a node. The Color_Math node (the second Color_Math node in the colomn beside the PoserSurface root node) has a second value of (151,151,151). That one was hard to see.
Sorry,

For those who would like to recreate this shader, as it is, the blacks are black, and the whites are white. But, let me give you the RGB coordinates for the colors used.
PoserSurface - Diffuse_Color (251,251,251). Diffuse_Value is set to 0.0, so this probably doesn't matter. ks_microfacet (236,240,251). ColorRamp is white, (205,205,205), (49,49,49), and black. Custom_Scatter - Surface color (193,193,193), and the other values are white and black. Marble - Base_Color (122,60,39), and Veins (139,159,36).
All values not mentioned are black or white.
Again templargfx, thanks for sharing. :)

templargfx:
You could always save that shadder out as a material, add ".txt" to the end, then post it in a message as an attachement. Then one doesn't need to find all the connections to replicate the sahder?
Thanks for sharing.

Thread: Whats wrong with this picture | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
With raytracing turned on FireFly will render the number of bounces that is set in the render settings. Raytracing will trace or follow the rays of light through each bounce that is specified at render time. BUT, each bounce increases the amount of time the render will take. Too many bounces will make a render take prohibitively long. Objects can be excluded in their properties tab.

Thread: OctaneRender for Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Does anyone have advice on a reasonably priced external PCI-E X16 expansion box? The ones I could locate thru Google cost more than a new computer. I only have one slott for the time being, and I don't think I will be buying a new computer anytime this year (my car's transmission just went out).
Thanks!

This is probably not the one you want, but might do.

Sometimes you can import a corrupted PZ3 file into a new blank scene, and problems with corrupted figures or props go away. I delete to lights in a new scene, and import the old PZ3.

Thread: Looking for a BELT prop | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It would be great to have clothing props. Not cloths to wear, but as props to hold, hang, drape, or cast around.
There have been times I wanted a coat to sling over a figures shoulder, or cloths drapped on a chair. These could be dynamic, and they would not have to have morphs or fit any character.
How about some shoes (men's and women's) to have under the edge of the bed, or around the house, or at the side of a pond. It is really hard to use conforming clothing this way.

Thread: Looking for script to change shading rate. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There is a free script to set the rate to zero for the whole scene (and you would then control the shading rate from the render settings. I am not at home to check and see who wrote it. I will look that up after work if no one else can think of it.

Thread: turning a texture sideways | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If I understand the Poser Surface Node rightly, the end result of any node setup will still be applied to a surface, and so it will be 2D.
I think that Poser needs an Orientation Node, that will allow rotation, vertical and horizontal flips, and maybe some other distortions or adjustments.

Great work! :)
And, a great incentive for others to begin working with weight maps.
