Well that hair was a waste of money. There is nothing there. 2 hours nothing loads, drag and drop on a skull cap, everything I can think of, nothing works. The dynamic hair that comes with cararra load fine, but the ones I just bought from DAZ will not load anything.

But this is typical DAZ for me, Ive always ended up returning every 3rd or 4th item because they were broke, wont load, or wont load right, ect. Just have to wonder how much of DAZ's profit is handed to them by timid people that wont ask for a refund, and blame themselves fro DAZ content not working.

Before you start DAZ still sells the dynamic clothing control for the defunked; no longer work in studio, Optitex clothes. Hell DAZ still sells the clothes that haven't worked in Studio for years.

Shader rests took a bit. But I like working with the cararra shaders; they have logic to them lol The quick bumps I made with photofilter, french freeware app. I basically just made the color maps black and white, adjusted contrast where needed, and inverted a couple; made negative. But I can use the model and texture map in Genetica to make decent normal maps.

I'm watching DAZ for whats on my wish list. As far as the western scene I'm trying something I haven't done before, a large set, apx 1KM X 1KM. I'll toss up a "working on it" render. Appreciate the heads up.

Ya, well, people see what they are looking for. If you're my age you remember the suntan billboard, add, ect of the puppy pulling the little girls swim suit bottom down to expose the tan line. it was cute, it was innocent, it was a very effective sales add. Gone

When I was ten I took a months worth of lawn mowing money and bought myself an 8'X2' blow up ring pool. I was in it as much as possible, my fronds were over all the time to be in it. Most of the time they would show up strip down to their under wear and jump it; girls and boys. I could not do a render of it now, but at that time no one thought anything of a bunch of half naked kids playing in a pool in a back yard. Oh I could dress every one in boxers and frilly skirt swim suits, but then that isn't my childhood memory any more.

I like it, it's a fairly timeless set. but it begs for a night scene. Stonemason has it half set for one, most of the buildings have individual rooms.

After. I reset all the shaders; made note of textures to replace, Not happy with my quick bumps. Moved the sun for a better scene, and added an HDRI sky. E2A: It screamed for water.

For some reason white was added to the texture in the shader, no highlight or bump. Glad I can make a reasonable bump map, just take a bit converting texture in Genetica.

Not so much a steam punk fan but i like the idea, rather see some future retro; think Firefly.. But really, some steam punk items can be retextured to look "future retro".

Was trying K4 clothes on Genesis. Except for the way autofit craps out on dresses, a couple looked nice on Genesis; the strapped summer dress for instance.
I do have one render up with Mat, he is helping David unload untaxed beer in my smugglers keep render.

Eons ago i spent several months working out an animation in cararra. A nude Sp3 ballet; couldn't get the BVH to work right on any other figure. The point was the jiggle physics; which worked quite nicely. With in 24 hours it was flagged as depicting an underage girl. I used a V3 pubic hair prop that made her look like she'd never hear of trimming, but still...

Like tsarist, I bought era specific clothes for period scenes, and downloaded some cute kids clothes. But after that I was leery to use them. Hell I even hesitate using petite character morphs.

Oh, don't make me look again I spent $30 already; couple of wish listed scenes were on a too big to pass up sale. Expect stonemason set steampunk scenes soon lol

Depends what it is. I have no issues with props and buildings. But G3 or clothes for G3 is an insta crash for me. My grudge for DAZ would be a bit less intense if DAZ had just kept carrara up to date with DAZ content. Maybe fix what they broke too.

Some one needs to tell DAZ you can only invent the wheel once, after that you are just putting new tread on an old tire.

The issue I have is the majority of those items are simply shaders for textures/skin sold separately. In order to actually use the on sale shaders you have to have the not cheap or on sale textures/skins. I can build my own shaders if I have the textures. And at this point I doubt you'll find a beginner carraraest. Now, as far as I know DAZ content stopped being compatible with carrara quite some time back; with the release of G3 many new DUFs wont open in carrara. Same with Poser. Carrara stopped being compatible at P8 I believe.

The real kicker is DAZ is still selling the clothing control for the defunct Optitex dynamic clothing. Surprised DAZ isn't still selling the optitex dynamic clothing... oh wait DAZ is.

The best thing for cararra and us is for DAZ to sell it to a group that would do something with ti. But that would be too much like handing an enemy a weapon. With out ever thinking if that weapon uses the ammo they make they are still making a profit off it. Carrara never was a competitor with Studio for content; no cararra never used DAZ content better then Studio, right lol But DAZ never really quite got the more apps that are compatible with Studio content the more customers you have; till very lately.

It was easy to work with in Studio, the problem was run time, calculations took ages. Hell I got the entire Bettie Page clothing collection. But it has been lost over time. I still play with draping in carrara using the soft cloth bullet physics.
