Thread: DAZ3D down? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Still doesn't work for me. I keep getting the login screen. I've tried deleting cookies and logging in again and that didn't work. Tried Firefox and IE and neither one worked.Â

I hadn't seen these before, they're great! Personally I don't have a use for them on the Mil Kids but if there was a version for David I would snap it up in a second.

I very highly recommend Advanced Network Hosts (see link). They have some really great packages and I've been very pleased with them. Their basic plan ($6.95/month) provides 1.5GB storage space, and 50GB/month of bandwidth. In addition they have all the goodies. Unlimited email accounts, PHP, Flash, streaming audio/video, MySQL databases, password protected directories, subdomains, etc. etc. etc. And better yet, their technical service is *very* good. When I set up my site I emailed tech support three times with questions and they got back to me within 30 minutes (10 minutes in one case). (P.S. I'm not affiliated with them in any way other than being a customer)Thread: Heads up, new Image thief. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"DMCA litigation Under section 512 of the controversial DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act), a representative of a copyright holder can send a "takedown" notice to a university or other Internet provider requesting that copyrighted material be removed. Anyone receiving a false notice can sue for damages and attorney's fees, but only if the sender 'knowingly materially misrepresents' information." I wonder if invoking the magic phrase "Digital Millenium Copyright Act" would make Lycos perk up their ears? As far as I can tell, ISPs are running scared of the DMCA because it can have the effect of shifting liability from the copyright violator to the ISP themselves if they don't act on a takedown notice. Just a thought. Anyone want to weigh in on this? Matt
Thread: Michael's Disappearing Hips | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This same thing has happened to me (...okay to my poser figures). I don't think its a memory issue as I have 1GB of RAM. Interestingly it happens intermittently when I load two M2 characters, even when I use the Millenium Null to ward off cross talk. I'd say it happens maybe 5% of the time when I'm using two figures in Poser, and I've never been able to see a pattern or figure out why. Usually I just treat it as the fluke it seems to be and continue on, although it would be interesting to hear if anyone has figured this out. Matt
Thread: Insufficient Disk Space to Render at the Current Resolution?! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Jay, I have the same computer system you do, and windows XP. It sounds like you've gotten some great advice on the swap files, etc., but I wanted to offer one quick and dirty trick to try first. When I get the error regarding not enough disk space to render, I go the folder: Document and Settings->(username)->Local Settings->Temp, and delete all the files. Then I'm able to continue rendering without having to shut down Poser or change the swap files, etc. Not sure if this will fix your problem, but its really easy and worth a try. Matt

Hey Raven, I had a friend who had a Penny Black. He pointed it out to me rather proudly one day (of all things it was framed and hanging on his living room wall) and I did my best to look impressed. Then he told me the significance of a Penny Black and it suddenly became quite an incredibly beautiful thing to behold! (LOL).

Oh rats! And here I thought CL was going to go public with their secret testing facility deep in the Nevada desert.
Thread: 2 Hours to render this? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Shawn, Thanks for replying. Actually I was just using the default lighting. I have no idea why it was taking forever to render, but I suspect that it's just my inexperience. So... back to experimenting! :-) Matt

Hi Black Cat, It's no consolation, but you're not alone. Yesterday I tried several times to render a very simple scene: Michael w/hair, no clothing (was using one of sturk's hero MATs), standing in a small room, default lighting. In production mode, even with most options dialed down, it was incredibly slow. I never did get my render because after 40 minutes I lost patience and canceled out. My system is a P4 2.4ghz, 1GB RDRAM, etc. I was thinking that it was just me, and that I was obviously doing something wrong. But from your post I'm thinking maybe the firefly renderer is just very, very slow. I'm not going to cast judgement and slam the program, its way too premature for that and wouldn't be fair. But... I do know that I will be using the P4 renderer for a little while longer until I figure out what I'm doing. Matt

Hi, Just a thought. Is the Michael file you're importing the base model without clothes, hair or any other figure/prop attached? If I recall correctly, it needs to be just the base model.
