Thread: Half ton of Poser in Vue6... It CAN be done! | Forum: Vue
I can tell you this method works fine for still renders, but try it with more than 2-3 animated millennium characters. Vue 5/6 Inf. will crash, every time, even when only using 1.5 gig RAM. My rendering machine has similar specs as yours - Dual Opteron 270, 8 gig RAM, XP64.
I don't think Vue has problems with large meshes or large textures, but it cannot handle Poser animation worth a damn, unless it is instanced. I'm sure this is related to the Poser SDK somehow, but the point remains that with 2-3 animated millennium characters (with full clothing, weapons, etc.) Vue will crash every time when it gets to 1.5 gig memory usage.

He really needs some weapons but I love the armor! I'm going to have to pick it up tonight.

Nice animation Leo. I look forward to the next installment. I really like the depth-of-field shots. What software did you use to make this and how long did it take you to make this episode?

Thanks nemirc,
Anyone, anyone? Bueller? I really like what I've seen so far of the Garic Starr project and Aurora Trek, so if anyone has seen any projects like these, please let me know.
Thread: Stupid Premiere 6 question on editing | Forum: Animation
I've switched from Premiere 6 to Sony Vegas, but I used Premiere 6 for many years. You can use the razor to cut out the parts you don't want, then just delete them (select them and press delete on the keyboard)Â and move the rest of the clips over (using the laso tool if you need). I think 6 or 6.5 had a feature to automate clips to the timeline, but that was more hassle than it was worth. If you just want to export a clip from a section, you can use the yellow selection bar on the top of the timeline to select an area to render out. The display on that was always buggy for me, but just make sure you have the start and end points right and then export movie.
The manual should go over all this. I think Premiere called it "make movie" or something for exporting movies, or you could "export" it as an MPEG file (in 6.5) that would open the MPEG encoder.

Thread: OutSource RenderFarm, please help. | Forum: Animation
I've considered it, but two issues always get in the way:
Copyright. If you're using poser models in your renders, you cannot send copies of your poser models to third parties, even just to render for you.
Price. For the price, you can usually build your own render farm. Obviously this depends on the scope and budget of your production, and your computer knowledge, but I always build my own render farms.
Thread: DIY Motion Capture for Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yoshi, it looks like your program is working very well as it is. I saw the videos on your site and I'd say, even if the motion capture was limited (have to manually track some trackers when they move fast), it would still be an awesome piece of software to have. I'm really looking forward to seeing it released, if you choose to do so. You could release it under a beta program and then move to 1.0. I'd be very interested in beta testing this program or buying a copy...I'd get the cameras from optitrack tomorrow if your software was available for purchase or beta!

Interesting article on the facial animation on Delgo. Dated 5/26/06 so they are still working on it ;)Thread: delgo anybody? | Forum: Animation
I first heard about this movie back in 2000 I think. I also read that production started in '98? So it has been in production for a VERY long time.
I'd kinda like to see it to but the story looks very cliche and boring. Animation looks nice though.
Thread: Vue Xstream and Poser | Forum: Vue
As far as I know, xstream WILL NOT import poser characters, either saved in the Vue scene or directly into Max. There are other plugins that do this...but they are expensive. Then again, if you can afford Max and xstream, they are not that expensive. To import animated poser characters, you'd have to use Body Studio by Reiss.
Thread: Animation help needed: Time splines? | Forum: Vue
The only way I've been able to animate a camera in Vue is by using the synchronization plugins with 3dsmax. Vue animation by itself is almost impossible. Once you get an animation down and start tweaking it, it will almost invariably get corrupt by vue at some point...duplicate key frames, keys missing, all sorts of nonsense. If you have a package that Vue synchs with, save yourself the headache and use that.

Thread: Vue5 Poser import jpg "unsupported file type" error | Forum: Vue
I think you can save .jpg files with different profiles. The most common one is "baseline" profile I think. This is NOT the compression setting, but rather some sort of profile. Photoshop has 3 options. Baseline, progressive and some other one. I think Vue (and actually a lot of applications) only supports baseline profile.
