well i agree with all of you but that doesn't solve my problem. here is my problem. sometime this month im getting a really nice scanner, and i have a lot of non-computer artwork (and no its not tits and temples) that i plan to post here on renderosity. but its going to take me forever at the 7 posts per week rate. other than that, i agree with you 100%

i jsut rendered this really quick to see what the sub would look like in the scene. i also changed the water and tried to get it as close to the way it was before but still using the same sky

oh yeah... and in space... who needs to see? its not like there is much out there to watch out for except a few galaxies every few hundred thousand lightyears... so... not much to worry about :)

ok well here is what i think. get rid of the star feild... go look on the web for pictures of space... preferabbly big ones... the bigger the better. maybe even some taken by hubble. then stick that picture on to a spere... and make the sphere encompass your scene. you will now have a much more realisitic looking (mainly cause the picture is real) starfeild or space background. this is what i am attempting with mine and its working out nicely i think... also... those planets are awfully close together.

I know exactly what you mean. Although as of yet i have not done any texture mapping. I was just making a 100% bryce spaceship and the model was pretty descent but i just couldn't seem to get the textures to work right. I dont know what it was. Eventually... after many hours of playing with textures I finally got something that was semi descent. I'm about to post the model in the free stuff section and put in a new post telling people about it in just a few minutes.
