I'm sorry to say that my free time this week has just been taken up with lots of little jobs and and real life problems, so I just haven't been able to have much of a go with this yet. I did feel I should do something though, but have to apologize that it's only very simple as I only had lunch today to work on it.
Apologies for the pun also.
I'm looking forward to working more with dynamic dresses - this pose doesn't do justice to this dress though but I intend to try out some other ideas with it later. The handy thing for me is that you get the natural wrinkles and folds which make life easier for working on a faux paint effect.

I'm happy to see a lot of dynamics appearing, as I'm keen to start using those more at the moment - will that red dress in the Blackhearted promo ever enter the store? - that is exactly the sort of thing I would like to put on a book cover.
Yes - I'm working on tweaking it to get it just right and then I'll put it up in Prime or something. I don't like to just rush things in the store.
I'm working on that and a major morph/character pack that I'll have done by the middle of the month.
Fab! I'll look forward to both of those.

I'm just having a quick play with the new figure now and have to say that it looks very promising to me. The HD morph pack is, as I'd expect from Blackhearted, excellent and I'm very happy to see the morphs split out, which makes it a lot more versatile for me - thank you for that (I imagine that was rather a lot of extra work, so I do mean that thank you).
I was initially unhappy with the face but as noted, it really is the generic base and I found that it requires very little tweaking to get a look that I like. I think the only thing that is going to take getting used to for me will be the expressions - working with the chips looks like it might be a fun though.

Well, after a play, I'm going to pick up some shoes and a dress and when I've some time later this week, I'll try and put it all together.

I sometimes think that us Poser User's are our own worst enemies :( OK..so LaFemme ISN"T perfect..given the limitations of Poser itself, NO figure can be perfect. People are loosing sight of the fact that LaFemme is marketed as a BASE figure..it's still a work in progress. She's only been in the market place for a week or so, there's already a good amount of "extras" out there designed especially for her. I, for one am happy with the potential she has for the future. Congratulations to all those who've worked on bringing her and her extras to the Poser world. :)
To model a lot of detail into a BASE figure would be a big mistake. It's a lot more difficult to morph detail OUT than it is to morph detail IN.
Yes, the G2 figures were very good figures in their day, I especially liked Miki and Sydney. BUT ... and this isn't a "dissing" but, but a "real fact" but .... it was hard to un-Miki Miki, and ESPECIALLY difficult to un-Sydney Sydney. For that reason, it makes more sense to make a base figure as generic as possible.
Yes, La Femme is somewhat stylized. And no, she's not perfect. No doubt about it. But her shape is a style that has become very popular over the years and is pretty much Gabe's trademark style. Look at GND for Victoria 4. Similar shape. GND for Alyson. Similar shape. Very popular add on for those figures.
I'm not sure how many in this thread were around when Victoria 1 first came out. I'm not talking V4, I'm talking V1. OMG, she caused quite the uproar. The reactions were very mixed, some saying "Posette 4 evah!" and others snapping her up with zeal. The addons didn't come all at once. At the time of her release I think she had a bikini and a ponytail. If I remember correctly, the total was around 135 for the base figure (no morphs), the bikini, and the hair. The rest came over time. Support for V1 didn't build up overnight.
Then there was a V2, which was basically V1 with morphs added to her.
Then V3, which really expanded her and IIRC that is when additional character variations started coming. Stephanie and Aiko ... I can't remember if The Girl came with the Mil 3 or Mil 4 generation.
V4 was when things really took hold, though, and even then she came out in three releases. First V4, then V4.1 and V4.2 as later updates with fixes. And the rest is history.
The community appears to be embracing La Femme, which is a good thing. I hope to see it continue. And I thank everyone again for your enthusiasm, it's greatly appreciated.
The original Stephanie and Aiko were second generation figures and built from the Michael 1/2 mesh but they didn't have much of an impact. Strictly, we could also class the first round of kids as variations - I believe they were built from the V1/2 mesh. The GIRL was not a variation though - she was a figure designed by Kim Goossens who sold her to DAZ under the initial condition that he did the conversion himself. She was contemporary to the third Generation though and with the fourth generation, she was integrated into V4 as a base morph.
You are right though, every new DAZ base figure has had its detractors.

2 Ways to Rome.
Regroup externally, and use the fitting room to transfer rig and morphs.
Do not regroup, and open the Joint editor.
Select the left thigh of the dress => Goto the Joint editor and go to "Bend" and in the right upper corner you will see a box called : "add element to deform". There navigate and add the left shin. Now you can repaint the weightmap for the thigh and if required also repaint the bulge maps.
You will have to do this for Bend, Side-Side and Twist to get the dress following completely.
Best regards, Tony
Thank you for these suggestions - I've been a bit snowed under with the holidays (and a project for a friend) but I'll have a go at these in the new year as I'm really quite keen to have this one working. I've just been watching some of your videos on YouTube, which have also explained some of the weirdness that happens when Poser has oddly saved an obj file when I've re-saved some cr2s in the conversion process.
Thread: Looking for advice to fix rigging problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know - it all seems to be there for the thigh joints - just nothing for the shins.
I may have to do something a little more drastic - perhaps if I re-group and use the fitting room to apply it to the figure and then use the morph transfer to salvage anything more from the original item. I've never tried rigging clothing in Poser before, so it will be something new to try I guess. A bit more work than I had bargained for though, so I'll hold out a few days in case anyone can suggest something better here. Maybe there is something that I can do on the Daz Studio side.
Thread: Conversions from DAZ Studio to Poser (Genesis, Clothing, Hair, etc) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The method I've used creates and object file - you could always save out the clothing into a prop, which would preserve your material settings, and then try to use that as dynamic item (I'm sure you could also just export and obj from Studio, though you would then have to assign the materials to it). I've not really tried it myself but I know others have used clothing figures as dynamic cloth, they they weren't made for the purpose, so you might need to do some work on the mesh first.
Thread: Is Poser development dead? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This all seems a tad premature to me and I would need more information before I'd be happy to make any judgement. Until anything significant changes, Poser is still my tool of choice and works just fine for what I want to do, there's still more in my wish lists than I can afford to buy this lifetime, and I'm adding to them now that I'm converting some studio content to Poser. I've been around to have seen Poser development stall before, so I'm going to wait and see and not worry - life's too short.
Thread: Thanks ! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My Renderosity account shows 1,003 items in my product library, my DAZ account shows 4,960 items - and I have no idea how much I've purchased from other stores (some long gone) over the years. My Poser Runtime folder is now 333GB - a fair chunk of which has been converted to compressed format, so quite a bit of stuff, all said and done.
And yet, my Renderosity wish list is worth $9,552, with I don't know how many items, while my DAZ wish list as 840 items, not to mention the lists of things I still want from various other stores. In short, more than I can possibly afford to buy in the foreseeable future.
If I am saving money by spending less on Poser products, it is not because of a migration of vendors from supporting Poser to Studio, but rather because I have reached a point where I can make do very well with what I have and don't particular fancy re-buying all the same looking dresses for V8 through to V999 again and again. Poser and even V4/M4 have been around for a long time now and I suspect that a lot of Poser users are in the same situation as myself and feel that their Runtimes are hitting saturation point - of course, we still spend our money, but not like we used to.
Now I'm not saying that I wouldn't like some vendors to resume making Poser products but they don't owe the software any loyalty, nor do they owe that to me. They are, as has been pointed out, trying to earn a living - can't we allow them that?
Thread: Project Evolution, fun and the future. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm only an occasional visitor to the forums these days but I have dropped in now and then to follow the development of this figure over recent years and have seen the project change a grow but have never felt misled at any stage. Nor did I ever expect not to pay for it in some capacity - loss leader figures only work for creators who can either churn out large amounts of content by themselves and/or who are in a position to profit from the supporting work of other creators. Like DAZ3D - it's a great strategy for them but for an independent, not a realistic one.
When it was released, I noted that there was a free version but considered that at $30, the full package was a bit of a bargain, so I happily paid and as it is a good product, I feel the creator has earned any money he makes. To put the price in perspective, it's only $5 more than I've paid for some individual Blackhearted morph/textures sets when they were on sale - which I still consider very reasonably priced. So $30 doesn't seem like much, even on my limited budget - a couple of books, or a cartoon show.
I don't know about greater goods or saving the Poserverse - I just see a product I like at a price I think is fair and that I can afford. Unless someone has suffered harm, life is a little short to get upset about it. Maybe try a private conversation to work things out?

She really is looking fantastic! I've been without a workable graphics computer for months now and it looks like her release will happily coincide with my buying a new machine, so now I've something extra to look forward to.
This has been an extraordinary project to see unfold - I'm really happy for you to see all that work come to fruition.
Thread: Tutorial : How to create High res meshes for your Poser figures. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have to admit that I had never thought of using the morph tool this way. A very welcome tutorial, thank you!
Wolf359, honestly, I think you might be underestimating the intelligence of some users. That some knowledge of a sculpting program is needed is fairly obvious - fortunately there are many tutorials out there on how to use them. Relax, this was a nice tutorial that does what it says on the tin.
Thread: seriously considering going back to Poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ah, while I use Poser Pro 2014 on my Desktop and Laptop, Poser 5 does still have its uses. I use a little netbook a lot these days and I like to illustrate emails and the odd blog post with cartoon figures - as a program designed to run on a big PC with the same power as the netbook now has (acutally less, the netbook is running 2gigs of ram), it runs just fine there with a small runtime of toons, animals and low res humans. I did try running the old version of Poser Debut - it worked but was very, very slow. So long live P5. The really handy thing is that it can run from a USB stick along with a bunch of other portable programs that I use, so if there it is on my keyring!
Thread: Is the Poser user base shrinking? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've not been visiting the stores (or really using Poser very much) for quite a while now. At the moment, I'm in need of images again and so here I am but I'm still not buying much.
The truth is that I've been buying for so long now and have so much material in my runtime that I just don't need to buy much any more - if I'm asked to make a book cover or illustration, then the chances are that I have something that I can use to get the job done. I did buy a bunch of Dreamlands models when they were on sale and then there have been some odd little models like the Russian Dolls that turned up at the store recently.
I'm sure that I'm not alone in the community in having reached this point. If I can do the job with what I have, I need a good reason to part with the money for something new. That reason could be that nothing else will do or that I see certain possibilities in a model that are worth my time and money. Unfortunately, much of what is new in the store is just a variation on stuff that I have already purchased before and probably more than once.
Perhaps if I had taken up Genesis then I might feel the need to buy more, though I suspect that would just involve buying much the same as I already have for V4 & M4 all over again. But there it is.
