PapaBlue, no that doesn't appear to be the problem. Fazzel, thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it. Still am puzzled though as to why the background pic is disappearing. Never had that problem before...

...does not exhibit female breasts. Nor does it exhibit violence and gore. What it does exhibit is just the slightest bit of a male figure's generously proportioned...er--"thingy", the portion that could not be contained under a demure green velvet loincloth. I am amazed--and oddly heartened--by the fact that viewers were drawn to this image in droves. Perhaps Gypsy Rose Lee said it best: "Leave the best parts to the imagination."Thread: Poser Hot 20 AKA Popularity Contest | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For me, I've learned not to gauge popularity as a measure of my work's worth. There are tell tale signs that are of greater value than those popularity contests. For instance, my homepage just received its 500th hit. To me, that indicates that people are interested in my work and want to know more about me. Also, when I post a new image, I notice that people go back and look at my earlier work. That also shows interest. I consider this an indicator that I am doing something right. But most important, other Renderosity members who send me instant messages and emails--those are the greatest sources of support and inspiration. People like SamTherapy, Geep, Jameshunter, Karen1573 and many others who take the time to express appreciation or offer solutions, critique, suggestions...this means all the world to me, far more than being a "top 20."

Thread: Material room settings to simulate the weave of cloth | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Littledragon, that was not a silly question at all! In fact, I hadn't really known about the weave node, and I shall now spend a good part of the next few days playing wih it! Thanks!

SamTherapy--too late! When you comment that something is "not worthy of discussion," you've already engaged in the discussion! heh heh :)

I don't understand the objection to certain topics being raised more than once. To me, this simply means that the topic is of interest to Renderosity members, just as Michael Jackson is interesting to newspaper readers. As long as people are willing to discuss something, they should post it. As long as people want to know about Michael Jackson, they should read the papers. Chacun a son goute.

Nigel, I'm in P5, and the lights don't have specular settings as far as I can see. Oddly, I solved my problem by setting the intensity far above 100%, and it seemed to work, as you will see if you look at my new gallery image entitled "Eat Me" (It was the monstrous face on the left that I had difficulty illuminating.)
Thread: Gallery Images Without Thumbnails... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I like creating my thumbnails. A good thumbnail has tremendous impact on the number of hits you get. I like to play with thumbnails and see how I can influence the number of hits. It's all about marketing--crass, I know, but such is the world in which we live. If ya' can't beat 'em, join 'em, I says.

Momodot, I like your response "I'm afraid to." You're right. In addition to the other possibilities I listed in my first post of this thread, there is the option of the image being too "ominous" to merit a thumb!
Thread: Little Rant: I am a littlebit tired of it... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No need to apologize for your english--you made your point and that's what matters. Just as it takes time to skim the galleries to find images in which creators have invested time and creativity in (as opposed to flipping a few dials and simply illustrating their big breast fantasies) it takes time to find the merchants who offer quality merchandise. It's all part of "the quest."

Probably best when asking a question like this not to stack the deck by offering your own opinion up front :) Still, I pick the left.

EnglishBob, I certainly understand your disenchantment with the ham-handed TOS, and have been directly affected by that idiocy. Still, I believe that the wisdom and knowledge I get from many people around here (like Geep, SamTherapy, karen1573, you and many others) outweighs the crap.

Thanks for raising this point. The next time any one of us want to whine (and I am the FIRST to do so) about some peculiarity of the software, we should take a breath and read this post. We are fortunate that the code is accessible, can be tinkered with, and that we have a forum like Renderosity where collective wisdom can be shared!
