Well, I have to add something to what I said above. My characters are fine, but I just found out my doors are MISSING. Checked the original tavern I had saved as a prop without the figures and - no doors. Webvogel, have you hidden a Norseman's spirit in your tavern?
Thread: My Tavern has an Hack`n slash effekt ????!!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I tried two figures in WebVogel's wonderful tavern and had no problems with either figure (both in at the same time). Can it be a problem with how much memory is allocated to Poser? I have 400 Mbytes allocated, on a 400 mHz G4 PowerMac. This tavern is one of the most beautiful props I have seen in a long time - truly a work of art!
Thread: Wet!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've been able to achieve a pretty good wet look by setting the skin highlight and reflection to full white. Tears, etc. can be done by adding a sphere prop, shrinking it down in the "x" and "z" direction to about 1-2%, then setting transparency to 20-25% and placing the resulting long, thin object on the figures cheek with about 2/3 of it submerged into the face. If you really want to get fancy, make a "droplet" prop out of a sphere and a cone, with the cone shrunk in the "x" and "z" directions to fit the small sphere. Parent one to the other, make it about 25 % transparent and it makes a good tear.

Another curious thing I have seen is that if I try to make, for example, a long wooden beam out of the box prop, then rotate it to 45 degrees from horizontal, then parent another to it at a right angle to the first (-45 degrees, making an "X"), I get really wierd effects. The ends of the beams become pointed rather than blunt. Haven't figured this one out yet.
Thread: Parenting problem :( | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Has anyone ever figured out how many props one can "parent" to a body part? I've occasionally had a problem when I tried to parent several props to the same part of a body, getting really wierd results. There must be some limit to the number which I haven't seen written yet in manuals.
Thread: Weird Error Message | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I generally get the "you are out of memory" message when a "cr2" file cannot find an "obj" file, with the subsequent crash of Poser. But if Poser crashes on another file, sounds like your Poser file has gotten corrupted. A re-install might be the simplest way around this problem.

I'd like to see the answers to this question myself, which has also plagued me since I began working with Poser about two years ago. I've asked the questions in the forum and gotten some answers, none of which really worked. Someone suggested grouping props and exporting to Bryce, then moving back to Poser, but when I tried that, I lost all textures.
Thread: Giving Poser its own disk... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is one of the interesting differences between Windows machines and the Macintosh. The Mac will let you put programs (like Poser) on any disk you wish with no trouble finding it. I've worked on Windows machines enough to know that there are still areas where the Mac is much simpler to use and to navigate in. Maybe someday Bill Gates and company will get there.
Thread: Poserworld ??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just to wrap this up for anyone interested, including all of you who offered helpful comments, I tried again last evening and got on PW very quickly (under 30 seconds) and got to the free stuff and what I wanted without undue delay. Guess this was an intermittent problem. Glad I kept trying, thanks to the encouragement from all who responded.
Thread: Hair not visible in Poser, only when rendering? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I ran into this some time ago and was frustrated until I realized that I could go to the 'render' menu and make the hair object less transparent. Too bad someone can't put this in the 'readme's' that come with such stuff to avoid confusing those not in the know.
Thread: Poserworld ??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I just tried the 'pwfwfree.asp' line, and after three minutes of loading at a rate as slow as 50 bytes/sec (that's bytes, not Kbytes) I gave up. Renderosity just loaded in about 35 seconds, with rates up to 2Kbytes/sec. I'm on a dial-up line, but it's usually pretty fast unless I'm trying to get on in a busy time of day. The question remains unanswered, it seems.
Thread: Poserworld ??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for your comments. Whatever the problem is, it's specific to PW, cause Renderosity generally loads in under thirty seconds, sometimes faster. And many of the downloads on Renderosity will download in under a minute, so it's something in PW that slows things down. Will try the http://powerworld.com/pwfwfree.asp that steveshanks suggested.
Thread: Clothes for Arduino's Eve Character | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I believe that Arduino's Eve has a few morphs that are different from Eve 4. I have both and they're not exactly identical. The clothing problem is not universal. Some things (even some of the Vicky stuff) works, but many do not, especially with any posture other than rigid attention.

And thanks also from me for all the good advice. The export/import is the part I had missed. I'll give it a try. I am trying out a free download of Cinema4D. I think that may help create interesting props. Can't 'save' them from the demo, but it's a way to try it out before paying a bunch of change.
