I think that may have fixed it. But aren't you supposed to have that one for about 95% of the stuff out there?
Thank you. I was going to try that but was afraid to!
Thread: Why Still Victoria Products | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I liked Genesis, but for me Poser Pro 2012 just worked better than Studio. Plus I dropped a ton of money on V4 improvements. I like V4. Especially with the :
If you are just starting out and didn't have a ton of money in V4 and M4 Genesis is great...but I just showed up a little too early to the party. She was free when I started on this journey..so for me I'm sticking with V4. (Now if they make Daz Studio render faster for me then I might pull poor V5 out and use her....)

Ok crisis averted. Not only did the vendor agree to a refund, but then in the third email they showed me exactly what I needed to do. Clear as a bell. I tried out the textures and they worked great. I just need a little guidance I guess. And no you can't convert the .DSF is what I learned LOL.
I had the "mapped" files so all I had to do was texture the dragon white and then add the files in the material room and save as a material preset myself. I wasn't saving the critter as white to start with which is why it looked ucky I guess.
I successfully got all the parts and pieces of the green dragon added all the way down to tongue and teeth.
I'm so happy and I've learned something today too. I might even be able to make my own MAT files b/c a lot of the "huhs" that I had were answered today when I had to do this myself. Now I just need to put all the files where they need to go and do it all over again for each color. UGH. :)
Makes you appreciate MAT files LOL.
See I told you all I had no clue what I was doing. LOL. It's a wonder I can make art in the program sometimes. This is why I'm the queen of ADD.
I'm just happy that it worked. Now if I cold only get the free morphs to behave on the dragon he'd have a cool new head :)
Thank you all for your help.

Quote - OK, just and FYI...when you are purchasing products at Renderosity and have questions, the first thing to do is open the ReadMe file. They provide this file for you to read before purchase on the main catalog page, just below the main promo on the right.
Thank you. I did read the readmefile, but it doesn't say in there or anywhere else that it won't work in Poser. I am an average user so file extentions don't always scream at me hey this ain't gonna work. Usually somebody will point that out so people will know upfront.
I already tried to load them into the material room and while they did load, they didn't render well at all.
I've spent most of today tweaking and working on them, but it is beyond my ability.
Thank you all for your help!

I can't get the files to show up at all in the Poser runtime, even when I have them installed there. So, I wouldn't know how to get them into the material room. Poser can't "see" the files I guess.

Unfortunately I didn't get it at DAZ or I would have asked for a refund. I actually got it here; so, it is a working product. I have Studio 4 and it works just fine in it. It is one of those products that has to go into the "my studio" folders. It is a texture set for the subdragon. Loads just fine when installed where it says to install it in studio, so it's not that it doesn't work..it's just that it doesn't work in Poser. I would guess I need to convert something somehow....
I didn't want to post the product because I'm not trying to cause any trouble. Renderosity doesn't have a refund policy so I think I'm just stuck and from the email I got with the "my page shows studio and not poser" I figured they wouldn't give me one anyway and just blame me for the confusion...which is what usually happens to me LOL. It just makes me mad that the description doesn't say doesn't work or not tested in Poser like other vendors do and I looked at it like 4 times. Everyone else here that I've run into makes it very clear what it will or will not work with. You would think if it worked with Studio it would work in Poser, but it is always nice to have that extra knowledge. Oh well I digress. I'm still mad because I really like the product...but I just have no love for Studio anymore since I got Pro 2012 :)
When I load the product in Studio it works just fine, but all it seems to have is .jpg in the folders for texure. I don't even seen any .DSA that I'm used to seeing for Studio. It does seem to have .DSF files though. The product is supposed to be DS3 and DS4 compatible, but I don't have 3 anymore. Works fine in Studio Pro 4.
So I guess what I need to know is there a way to take the texture files I have that work in Studio and then convert them to show up in Poser to be applied b/c as they are now they do not show up in Poser at all. I know there has to be a way, but never having to convert anything I don't remember retaining that knowledge!
Thank you all so much.
Thread: Opinions on where to install Poser (any version) in a Win 7 system | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I just stuck mine in the dreaded program file for 64 bit programs on Win7 and if I had an issue I just right clicked on the folder where it was installed and said "run as an administrator". I don't have my runtimes in poser....I have external ones unless it's like a material file and only can be used in Poser. I have little to no problems. However, I would think that you could just install it anywhere. I used to back in the day put programs on the D drive....I think it's just a matter of the computer finding it.....
Thread: PP 2012 or DAZ Studio 4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I preferred Studio 3 Advanced to Poser 7.....when I got DS4 it sped up and I was happy UNTIL I got Poser Pro 2012. I have not looked back. I think if you are new and want to use Genesis go for the free Studio it's great to learn on and you can make beautiful stuff. However, If you are like me and refuse to let go of your V4 model and all the crap you just bought for her less than a year ago and don't want to buy it again....and want 64 bit support that IMO goes faster than DS4 I would get Pro2012. Poser 9 was slower than spit for me. Took it back.
I prefer the interface of Poser 2012 to DS4. But all your stuff should work fairly well for studio if you go that route. I mean it's free....get it! Why not?
The program is just a tool and whichever one you think will help you with your art more is the one you should go with.
I just couldn't get Studio to render as fast for me anymore so I moved to Poser.
And Poser lights will work in Studio 4....I experimented with all kinds of set ups that said they wouldn't work in there...they did anyway LOL.
I had Reality...I never once got to make a pic in there b/c the darn things would never render fast LOL.

Thread: SSS is amazing! I just love sickly, pale, diseased looking skin! Wax is so attra | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hum. Well. What a post opener. I never had a problem with SSS. I just buy skins with SSS shaders made in...no problems cause I ain't getting into all that apply stuff and being advanced :) Works best with the IDL lighting IMO. I bought PRO2012 for a few reasons..to by some SSS shader skin characters I saw here, 64 bit support, and use the fancy lights. (Dang sparkly make up on those models!)
Sure all those selling points were great in the promo about tweak this and add that when they rolled the program out, and Pro2012 was a super upgrade to me from 7....but I haven't a clue how to use most of them; I barely knew how to work Poser 7 LOL. Maybe one day I'll try to learn how to do all the stuff myself, but if you want to use SSS and don't know how to do it yourself there are several very fine textures out there and a lot of them are even in the PRIME store...and they come with readme files that tell you how to set the stuff up for best results....sadly most of my works are not done with SSS as I found I prefer the less realistic look for my line of work/post work. I still like the SSS though :)
Thread: Poser Pro 2012 not finding files all of a sudden | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well I finally just ended up cancelling out of the "want to find this" box and then clicked on the dome and applied the problematic pictures from the mat files from the add on package. That worked. It's not a one step process, but it allows me to use the product with minimal problems. Yay!
I'm just glad I only have 2 things with problems!
Thanks everyone.
Thread: Poser Pro 2012 not finding files all of a sudden | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well I've done all that suggestions (most I've already tried before with no luck). I can't even get the basic sky to render now. I'm tired so I'm just gonna call it a night. Thanks for the help.
What exactly would external binary morphs do? Is that under the "save" part where it talks about saving. I tried checking and unchecking this but no luck. I try not to mess too much with those settings if I can help it.....I read a few tuts on what to turn off and what not to mess with and what to increase to get it to go faster....but that is about it. :0 )
Thread: Poser Pro 2012 not finding files all of a sudden | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm running Windows 7, PoserPro2012 and the runtime is one I made myself; an external one stored in my user area. The program is installed in the regular old windows program file area for 64 bit programs and ran as an administrator. It runs wardrobe wizard and other things just fine. However, it doesn't matter if I install the terradome and expansion it into Poser 7 or Poser Pro 2012 in the Poser "runtime" or the external one I made...same issue, but only with the expansion skies. Syyd over at RDNA did try for several weeks to help me figure it out, but nadda. I figured it was just me. I have no idea if it uses a phtyon script, but that could be it since it's gotten even worse since service pack 2. It's not a big huge deal, but it has the prettier skies LOL.
Well at least I'm not the only one with problems with it :)
Thanks everyone
Thread: DAZ to make a "game-changing" announcement | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well all I can say is if DAZ Studio wasn't free I would never have gotten to learn or use Poser and I think it's great that it's free....maybe not earth shattering, but still very nice that people have a chance to get the "big" version for free. And if you are new to 3D free IS very good and to get the top product version whatever you want to call it is also very nice. I've had better luck with DS4 than I did with 3 as far as render times. However, I've pretty much switched to PP2012 b/c now I prefer it and the SSS option and I have all this V4 stuff LOL. But that doesn't stop me from going back to DAZ and getting free stuffs when I can...genesis or V4. And one day I will use studio again...whenever this upgrade downloads :)
But this year I definately won't be renewing my platinum membership and won't be scurrying to buy stuff during those sales. I have found that the changes to their club aren't that great and I prefer the PRIME membership this year. But I hold no grudges because if it were not for that company and website I wouldn't have half the stuff I do. I started doing 3D right when they started giving away V4 and all those models for free. I remember getting a refund on Aiko b/c she was free the next week. If it wasn't for their site I probably would have never clicked over here. I made the mistake on clicking on a free link for ironman13's actual webpage in a forume and down the rabbit hole I went. Daz was a great place to learn and get stuff for next to nothing/free. It's great for anyone that wants to try out stuff too...or at least it was when they gave a bunch of stuff away for free.
However, I've grown in my abilities to do 3D renders and have upgraded here and there....
Thread: Background Images and Rendering in PP2012 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I also found that if I resize the window and import a picture that if I scale everything up I don't have all those pesky problems with huge background and iddy bitty V4. It was a little rough on me figuring it out...but my pic turned out great and exactly what I wanted. I also got the single prop prim and texture to work and was able to scale that up and down with the information here and at the Poser site linked here. You all have made my work much easier and me much happier :) I can't thank you all enough!
Poser Pro 2012 just freakin rocks.
