I guess it all depends of the DS version you're using.
For DS3 you can add a line in the cr2 that makes the handles visible in the preview but not in the render. It doesn't work i DS2 though.
My workaround is to make a pz2 that hides the handles for the render, you have to apply it before to render. Alternatively, you can also make a pz2 that unhides the handles for the posing :)

To be more precise, checking smooth polygon in the render settings activate the smoothing only for the objects that have smooth polygon checked in their own setting (which is on by default for all objects).
Personally, i don't always see a real benefit with smooth polygon on, so i first try with the option uncheck (you save some rendering time and computation). I check it only if i see a hard edge somewhere.

Generally i add another environment sphere and scale it down to 99.9% without adding any image on it, and i tick off the "visible to raytracing" box. But there is for sure a better solution :)

Hmmm... guess what? I just wanted to edit my above post and get redirected to the mybookface site. No matter what i tried (back button or the rendo link from my favorites) i get to that site. I had to close down my browser to come back. Bad bad.
Rendo should do something or they will get completely hacked.
