i can only speak for myself and i would never go back to v4, v5 for me is real sweet, but as wabe said, download the demo and see for yourself if it works ok on your system or not, it sure does for me.
Thread: Vue 6 | Forum: Vue
well anyhow we see it v6 wont kill off development of v5, v5 will mature and be developed for quite some time so be happy you guys know that v6 aint that far out and just enjoy v5 getting better by time.
a company always need to release new generations of it´s applications to get new users and a constant cashflow, it´s the name of the game, if they woudnt do that there would be no patches or updates or even an r&d team for your beloved application.
As for v5 in all honesty it´s come a long, long way since it´s initial release, alot of stuff to squish left in it and or improve upon but it´s still being worked on and not abandoned, so im atleast happy to see v6 being mentioned officialy.

as for lw/vue, you guys realize there´s alot more going on then partnership and alliances when you determine what application to release your plugin for first of all.
as far as i know the lw/vue bundle is still valid btw so aparently no sour grapes there, check out c3d for more information relating to the delays of the lw xStream plug and im sure you´ll find that real life can be quite simple and not always a behind the scene plot going on.
lw9 development is what caused the delay if you´re to lazy to visit c3d btw :)
Now i do not believe that e.on and newtek will merge @ the hips but it would be interesting if they did for sure :P
Thread: Graphics card performance difference? | Forum: Vue
just had to say that you realy cant get much better viewpoint performance in vue atm then what a 7800 card gives you, of course 7800 gtx is better and ati has faster cards to but all considered its a realy good card and as far as vue is concerned it wont do any difference atm.
Thread: OT (almost) - real time landscapes in Oblivion | Forum: Vue
mm its a step in the right direction having opengl previews, but its a big waste not using the same gpu for the render, of course together with the cpu, now is it hard to get your gpu to help out the cpu with the final rendering, not realy, in my humble opinion and it would for sure be worth it in terms of publicity and happy users.
Thread: OT (almost) - real time landscapes in Oblivion | Forum: Vue
well i agree with one thing, 3d applications needs to seriously start digging in on the gpu performance for more then just opengl preview, it needs to start helping out the cpu with the final renders, alot of seriously wasted performance there on most modern day rigs. make it optional if youre concerned with people without a decent gpu. however theres a big difference tho, even tho a game is real time its still like a big sandbox (a premade box with limits and posibilitys) compared to the virtualy unlimited things your 3d applications needs to handle, that sandbox environment helps out quite alot when it comes to games. but yes, 3d apps could be so much quicker to work with.

1.yep c3d have some pre animated vobs on its way to the public.
2.theres a 3dsmax plug for creating .vom files
3.not realy, not everybody has poser, and alot that has poser doesnt animate by themselves, + you can create vom files in 3dsmax. in my humble opinion :)

Thread: The Island for Infinite | Forum: Vue
as for versions not being backwards compatible that happens sooner or later with any software package, its the nature of the beast when certain features or fixes get implemented. as long as newer builds can open old stuff thats realy all thats important (and aslong as content creators stick with official builds and not beta builds), far better having your application evolve then not implementint fixes and features just to make sure that old builds can open sourcefiles from newer builds. in my humble opinion
Thread: For Sci Fi Vuers........ | Forum: Vue
nah not at all monsoon, the scene aproach actually makes it better in my humble opinion, the island was great and distributing it as a complete scene is a nice move on your part. but as phantast said, including the number of mats and objects etc in your product description will make your product more attractive to potential buyers. Explaining just as you did in this thread that it is a scene complete with x number of planets, atmospheres etc, etc will make it much more attractive in the buyers eyes and make sure you avoid any misinterpretations.
Thread: For Sci Fi Vuers........ | Forum: Vue
well it sounds interesting but i have to agree with phantast, i would have enjoyed some in depth product description and some gui pics, wip images. sorry monsoon im sure its one more realy nice product from you but theres no explanation at all as to what you get for those 20 us$.
Thread: Rendering out each frame in an animation to a file? | Forum: Vue
it do save sky backgrounds etc, unless youve opted to only render certain parts of your scene (so check your render settings)
Thread: HDRI | Forum: Vue
which would in reality be a ldri image in my humble opinion :) still usefull tho of course (i actually use ldri more often then hdri)
